Can these be used on shower ceramic tile?

Answer This Question

While the product description doesn't specifically mention ceramic tile, they are designed for sanding wood, metal, and plastics. For sanding ceramic tile, diamond sanding pads are generally recommended for best results.

Answer This Question

Hello June, thank you for your question and interest in Diablo sanding accessories. The Diablo SandNet will perform just as fast if not faster VS standard sandpaper. The video online is to show that one SandNet disc will last up to 10X the life of a standard sanding disc.

I do not find these to be any significant difference in time to complete a sanding project. They do self clean much better than the standard sand paper.

This is excellent sandpaper. It doesn't clog like standard paper sheets, cuts really well, sticks well on the sander even with extended use, and lasts a long time. If you want a really excellent comparison on sandpapers, check out Jonathan Katz-Moses's YouTube channel where he tests a broad range of sandpapers, including this one. Nets won basically every category and Diablo did very respectably, especially given the cost. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZDCRFi8dKY

I don't believe it is slower but I did not perform any tests. I do believe it is less dusty and more of the dust is collected and not left on the board

I would say that using the same grit, with the same sander, at the same speed should be about the same. I have not personally tested this but have used both and other than clogging it's about the same to me.

          By|Mar 14, 2022

It is slightly slower but the net has a much longer life and stays consistent.

Hello, Will this work with a handheld sanding block that uses hook and loop to attach the sandpaper? Thanks.

They should, you may have to cut to the correct shape

Yes, these will work on a sanding block. The mesh has great flexibility, so it can be used for contours, etc without and problems.

Yes, this will work in that situation.

                  By|Jan 14, 2021

It's recommended to use a backer pad (which comes with the 50-pack)...the backer pad sticks to your hook and loop block, and the pad sticks to that. I will likely work fine without the backer pad too.

I would not suggest you purchase these disks to sand metal. There are better products available at Home Depot for this purpose.

Yes, these will work good for metal. The mesh will not tear like paper, which has a tendency to get caught on an edge and tear at the dust collection holes.

                      For attaching disc to sander

                      By|Dec 19, 2020

You need a pad to interface between the velcro and the stickless pads of this product. It works well, but is necessary.

Well Tony, some 5" sanders take the press on sanding disks that have like a strong sticker on them. This application pad can be used on those sanders and convert them to "hook and loop". -Also it can be used to replace your application pad if/when it becomes worn out. If yours has "Velcro" and it is not worn out, you could also use it and DIY yourself a hand sanding block that will then take these or other 5" hook and loop sanding disks. - - i really like these. i recently used them working on some nursery projects for my niece. i just rinsed them out at the end of the day & when i came to apply finish the next day they looked and worked like new. I recommend this purchase, because they are different, and if you are a woodworker or carpenter i think you have to use them to really appreciate them or to decide if they are not for you. Good Luck, Lisa.

The sandnet disks allow the dust to flow through them which will wear out your Velcro on your orbital sander much quicker than the traditional paper sanding disks. If you use the application pad, you will wear out the Velcro on it, instead of the orbital.

                            (4)

They will not install over a traditional Velcro pad so this reverses the exposed Velcro so they stay attached.

Velcro. They have their own velcro pad that works a little better than the pad on my Bosch sander. They work excellently!

~ - They attach with hook and loop like, "Velcro". This configuration, sku# 1004834474 assorted grit 5" 50 pack, comes with a free hook and loop connection pad. it is great to convert a sander from self adhesive to hook and loop, or to replace your Velcro pad if/when it gets worn out. i have a brand new sander with an odd base, i can use these sanding discs no problem, but i couldn't use the free connection pad.- So... i made a little hand sanding block out of a hard foam rubber kneeling pad, i applied the Diablo connection pad so that it will take these or other 5" hook and loop sanding disks. - - i really like these. i rinse them out at the end of a day & they look like new the next day. Good Luck, Lisa

~i like these for wet sanding more than any other "multi-purpose" sanding disks. i have not compared them with any sanding products made "specifically" for wet sanding. But for applications where you can use either general purpose sanding disks or wet specialty disks; like- knocking down the grain (after raising it) on pine; or sanding a finish while still wet between coats, i think these work great. Better than the name brand paper i was using. - i don't think they will hold up super well in a REALLY wet situation but i believe even then they will do a good job while in one piece. - - if you have a particular application in mind i will try to answer. But right now $19.88 gets you a 50 pack of assorted going up to 400grit ( i've only used the 400 wet & i've used the 220 on damp raised grain). You really should get them at this price and give them a try. They are different enough that i think woodworkers & carpenters have to try them to see what they are all about.

This set is the best value I could find for high quality sanding discs, with different grit levels for all needs. The fabric disc is a great innovation, which help firmly attaching to sanding pad, which is an issue for all adhesive disc types. The discs fit perfectly on my 5" DA. I am happy with this set and will definitely buy more in future.

Ok, so this pack of variety sanding disks has everything I needed for my project which is still underway. I used the 400 to sand a plaster repair job I did and OMG it made us so smooth. I also used the 80 on some old, painted over several time, Sheetrock and all the bumps and roughness went away. I then smoothed it out with the 220. Overall it’s doing a great job so far.

I appreciate that Diablo is trying to be more environmental, but the quality isn’t there. It doesn’t do any good to be able to wash and reuse the sanding discs when they tear up and wear out just as fast as the regular sanding discs. Don’t waste your money on these.

                                                Not worth the extra cost
I thought I would put these to the test while sanding some cedar siding, prior to painting. I figured that since they last longer and "won't clog" they would be a perfect fit. As it turns out, with the heavy remove that I was doing, they did clog so I punched holes in them in-line with the sander's 8 holes. That worked for a bit until those holes clogged too. As far as out lasting their regular sanding disks, I would say that's a lie. I had far better success with their 80 grit disks.

This 50 pack assortment works with most brand 5inch sanders that have a hook & loop (velcro) style fastening system. These will not work on pressure sensitive fastening systems (PSA sticker type). The velcro held up great on my random orbit palm sander, the disks never flew off, or wandered after attaching them. I was very surprised at the strength and longevity of these disks, they do not get torn up or clog with dust. The disks have great flexibility but still are strong. I used one disk for scuffing up some plastic that normally clogs paper disks very fast, but these did not clog. The mesh did improve my dust collection, which is just the bag that attaches to my hand held sander. I am sure if you had a vacuum attachment for your sander, this would greatly minimize escaping dust. The grits this combo pack come with are 10 each of: 80 course, 120, 180, 220, and 400 fine grit. An extra velcro backing plate is also included. The grit is from Switzerland and these are assembled in the USA.

This sand paper, well you really cant call it paper. I'm not sure what it's made of. Its falls apart after a short time and it loses it grit before that. It's useless.

Doing the job. Can you recycle those after done or do they end up in landfills?
