Q:will it cut through a hot tub and roofing shingles

Answer This Question
A: These blades are designed for nail embedded wood or similar materials. Depending on what the hot tub is made of they may or may not work for you. They should cut through roofing shingles with no issues. If you have to cut a large quantity, I would recommend one of our carbide recip blades. To check it out just search, www.HomeDepot.com for either #1000049075 or #1002741227.

Great for nail embedded wood
I have been using these blades for about 3 years now. I have had good luck cutting through nail embedded wood with these blades. I also had to use it to cut a locking hitch pin off of my truck and it did a fine job at that too. This blade locks into the saw securely and just tears through materials. I don't have any dislikes about it and it did meet my expectations. Please hit the thumbs up button if you found this helpful.

3 stars because I bought it as a bonus pack, two blades for the price of one ($11.97). If it were just one blade for that price, it might be a 1 star review. But anyways....
I cut up pallets by the truckload for various furniture and décor that I sell. Always used bi-metal blades, but they burn up after a half dozen pallets or so. Finally I decided to try a $15 Morse carbide tooth blade, and it was a game changer. I can cut dozens of pallets and the blade still cuts through nails like its new.
That leads me to this review. I saw a bonus 2-for-1 pack of these diablo blades and figured I would try them. Everyone loves Freud/Diablo, I've always thought they were OK to decent myself. I cut exactly one pallet and completely broke off not one, but five teeth. Maybe it was bad luck, maybe a flawed blade, but I was pretty disappointed. And I know carbide is very hard, thus brittle, but I've had my Morse blades for months with zero broken teeth.

The blade is an average blade and cuts nails in pallets and wood at the same time. I abused the blade a lot when I cut pallets for woodworking projects and the blade gives me an average life time for this kind of application. The blade holds up to 20-30 pallets and after that I have to change the blade. I use more expensive blades and they give me 40-50 pallets but at a higher price. Overall it is a good blade for the price.

As a blade, this performed excellently to cut off old nails from a wooden pallet, that's where all praise ends.
This however did not play well with my Ryobi P517 Reciprocating Saw. After only 1 hour of use, I noticed that my guidelight was no longer lighting up...I look into the blade housing only to see that the Diablo blade has sheared the guide light into oblivion. You could tell because of the red residue left where the guide light used to be, much like a murder scene. I had to go back to Home Depot to get my saw replaced.
I will not be buying Diablo again, and take caution if you have a Ryobi P517 Reciprocating Saw!

So I had (keyword here people is HAD) a junk hot tub that was built into my deck. I bought this blade because my harbor freight ones didnt “cut” it. These babies did the job and I still have them. I cut up the hot tub into manageable bits and sent the abomination away. So I cut through the guts, foam, metal, hoses, vinyl, wood, etc in single fell swoops. I think I wound up ruining one blade bc I went to town cutting away and scraping against the concrete pad so much. Needless to say I didnt have to get more. Highly recommended for any demo project.

Quality blade for quicker demo work!
The DIABLO DEMO DEMON by Freud is a dynamite reciprocating saw blade for demolition. I used it instead of a circular saw to cut a pressure-treated 4X4 and it cut right on the line with almost no deviance! These 4X4’s were split and then repaired by using number 9 deck screws to fasten some 2X stock on each side. These blades cut right through these sections and barely burped when it cut through the screw!
I tested the plunge ability by cutting through a piece of T-111. The specially designed “finger” on the tip of the blade easily cut a slice through the sheet stock so that the blade could continue its cut through. The other day I had to plunge cut through some T-111 the other day with another reciprocating saw blade without this feature. It as difficult to plunge, and needless to say it did NOT cut as well as the Diablo blade!
Using quality blades makes for quicker and easier work. These blades will make your demo work a LOT easier.
