Q:Just tried this blade on pergo defense+ w/ 10" new blade on a table saw & it struggled through the cuts, tearing more than cutting it seemed. Does the pergo need to be face down? if not, this is going to be the biggest waste of money.

Answer This Question

A:  I imagine so since it works so well on my thick laminate floor

A:  It can be used in a pinch for wood that cuts well with 16 tooth blades. It will rip out plywood, however. There are better Diablo blades for your purpose I think.

by|May 10, 2023

A:  Hi Desperado! This blade will have no problem cutting the wood. However, for the best finish quality, you'll want to go with a dedicated wood blade.

A:  Hi Desperado, yes should be great

Don’t use on bamboo engineered flooring
Took it back after three test cuts using a brand new DeWalt miter saw. Even when going slow on bamboo engineered flooring it rips and jars the fibers from the board. Yes I waited until the motor was at nominal speed. For $99 bucks I expect a clean cut

I used this blade to install 270 sq ft of Pergo Outlast flooring in my Basement. It made a clean cut, even with the padding on the back of the Pergo. A much better option than a board cutter ( I tried that first). Used it to cut laminate moulding as well.

Blade cut like butter from the first to the last cut through pergo outlast+. Very impressed. Burned up a normal saw blade previously on a different install and ended up buying a new blade. Worth the money to buy a specific blade for the application.

            Simply Fantastic!
I’ve had this blade for a while, but I am only now starting my current laminate floor installation, and have a chance to share my opinion. In the past I was using an 84 tooth Diablo 10” blade, and although it provided smooth cuts, it required a lot of downward saw pressure on my chop saw to make the cuts, often resulting in some minor “burn” on the edges of the laminate. I tried this blade for the first time today, and WOW – what a noticeable difference. Yes, it’s a cliché often used by others, but I can think of no better phrase than that it cuts like a hot knife through butter. Because it zips through the laminate so easily, It is tempting to move the saw quickly through the stock, but doing so seems to result in tiny chipping at the edges. Taking a slow pass through the laminate completely avoids chipping, resulting in a finely honed edge (see picture). Can't say how long it will last, since I just started using it, but I love this blade right out of the box! Only wish that I had it before I started my last laminate flooring job. So glad I’ve got it now for the 2000 SF of Pergo XP that I'm putting down now.

            Super Clean Cuts
I was a little skeptical about a 12-tooth 10" saw blade, but Diablo makes good stuff, so I guess they know what they're doing. Sure enough, this thing cuts through laminate like a hot knife though butter. No tearout or chipping at all, and I was getting the same cut quality at the start of my project as I was a the end of it. I only did one 130 sq. ft. room with an AC-4 rated 8mm laminate, so I can't really testify to the 75x longer cutting life that Diablo claims. However, I certainly didn't notice any degradation in cut quality for the 24' of rip cuts I made. One side note: the whole blade is coated in Diablo's red permashield coating. It stays on the whole blade for cut after cut, but the first few will leave red marks on the cut surface as the coating wears off the cutting teeth. Not a big deal though, since no one will ever see the ends of the laminate boards. If you've got a 10" miter saw and a 10" table saw, you could even get by with just this one blade. Rip cuts are only needed on the first and last rows, and for the first row you can crosscut the last piece on the table saw before changing out the blade. If you've got a laminate flooring project in your future, this blade is definitely worth picking up!
