Does each panel come with the needed 2.5" and 5" screws?
Asked by: Milklover
No you have to purchase separately. I've used the screws below purchased from Home Depot #10 x 5 in. Ultra Guard Square Drive Flat-Head Coarse Thread with Nibs Double Auger Wood Deck Screws (100 per Box) #8 2-1/2 in. Phillips Bugle-Head Coarse Thread Gold Screws (1 lb.-Pack)

How are the panels shipped? I live in a condo complex and not sure if a big 18 wheeler could fit so not sure how these arrive.

Asked by: SteveG
The panels were shipped to my home in a large tractor trailer stacked on skids. I ordered over 50 panels and I was asked to have help available to help take them off the truck.

How can I account for drainage pipes that come directly out of the wall ? Can sections of this wall be cut out to accommodate these type of obstructions ?
Asked by: Nancy
We ended up creating a box to fit around our water pipe/meter and then building the Smartwall up to it.

Dricore SmartWall was a very good choice, even when calculating versus a framed-wall and standard drywall with an equivalent barrier and insulation R value, it looks like Smartwall is only going to be a small amount more expensive in terms of materials. When it comes to labor and time nothing beats this type of construction. I chose to install 2x4" pressure-treated lumber on floor, at halfway point of wall and near the top and used both the ramset and tapcon screws in all 2x4 studs. I chose to forgo the upper 2x2 furring strips and have plenty of anchoring strength using a 2x4 mounted high on the concrete wall. The wallboard is cut easily with a new handsaw. I cut in most of the outlets by hand as well. Overall a very good solution, I can frame and mount wall in probably 6 sections/hour.

We did 46' of walls in 2 days. The video is helpful but it glosses over some details. You need to install blocking at the ceiling where your wall is parallel to the joists to attach the 2x2. If you are not using smart floor cut a 1/2" of the bottom to keep the drywall of your cement floor and absorbing moisture. Trim will cover this gap. To go around windows and ducts you will need to attach 2x2s directly to the wall and attach1/2" thick wood to stay plum. I emailed Dricore to find the 5" screws and they sent me this link for 5-5/8" screws that are stocked at home depot. https://www.homedepot.com/p/GRK-Fasteners-12-x-5-5-8-in-R4-Multi-Purpose-Screw-50-per-Pack-96089/204837660 We used a sawzall to cut through the wood on the wall and a handsaw for the foam. If you have to cut a tongue off a section to join flush at a corner, the sawzall made this much easier then by hand for a 8'. We had 2 panels arrive damaged and were instructed to return to a store. Home Depot was great through the process of buying, arranging shipment and return.

I purchased these panels because I thought they would be mold resistant. The fact they still have organic wood material as part of the construction did not work in our application. I have a 1960s home with high humidity. This was a complete waste of over $5000 dollars not including labor of electrical. I ended up using the Owens Corning basement system to fix and do my project properly.

Smartwall saved us a lot of time putting up the exterior walls in our basement. Everything you need is included and it is moisture resistant, so I don't have to worry if some condensation gets on it. It goes up quickly and has many more installation instructions online, as opposed to other wall systems. We love the finished look!

Home depot was unresponsive to a refund since they were purchased through the website instead of in store. I might, out of principle, return all of them. (over $3,000 worth of product) That being said, the panels themselves are a good solution for a basement.

One - ensure you have help when they are delivered. I had a friend present when they showed up at my house. The freight delivery is curbside only. The panels only weigh 35 lbs. but are a bit unwieldy, especially navigating around corners and down stairs to the basement. Two, when cutting use a hand saw. I cut one panel too long and needed to remove a 1/2" off the top so I grabbed my circular saw. It made a dust cloud that filled the space. Handsaw, no dust cloud. Lesson learned. Three, I ran the main electrical (12-2 romex) while installing each panel. Sure you can use a fish tape to pull wire, or you can feed it through. I choose to feed the main run as I added each panel. It seemed to work very well. Four, I screwed the left side of starter panel top and bottom. I then added the next panel. I screwed the right top and bottom of the first panel and the left top and bottom of the second panel. By leaving out the screws that adjoin the next panel it was easy to slide in the new panel and then fix them into place. Five, laying out the 2x2 strips. I followed their directions on putting the top 2x2 at 2" from the wall and then adding 2 5/8" for the bottom 2x2. It leaves a nice air space between the panel and the wall. I was worried at first I would be giving up too much space for the wall system in a relatively small room (14 ft. x 16 ft.). However, when it was complete the "lost" space was not noticeable. The install, with wiring including surround sound and HDMI cables was a lot more complex than the install video shows. But the final product is really good and does save time over framing, installing vapor barrier, insulation and drywall. I would use it in against any exterior basement wall for finishing.

I purchased this produce to address a wet basement bathroom wall after a so called 500 yr rain hit the area. The basement did not flood, but the walls leaked a little bit. The basement bathroom wall was always a bit damp, and when I pulled off the drywall/visqueen/1x2 system there was mold. I installed the dricore system (walls and subfloor) and hope for dryer walls. The product is well made, and very easy to put up. the tongue and groove fits well and the gap is very small. Easy to cut (circular saw) and light enough to manage around corners getting into the basement.
