My patio came out great! The hardest part was the prep work. Etched concrete surface and smoothed out rough spots with 6 grit sandpaper. Applied 3 coats over 2 days.

    Beautiful Laundry Room Floor
I loved working with this paint, and am even more thrilled with how it turned out. I am a 50ish woman and completed this laundry room project myself, with the exception of pouring the new 4x4 concrete slab under the old sink. The prep was a lot of hard work - the painting was the fun part. Our house is almost 100 years old and there was old paint, cracks, holes and rusty patches all over the floor. I tested the paint by scoring an “X” with a blade and tried to rip it off with duct tape. Luckily no paint peeled off so I knew I didn’t have to remove the paint. I filled holes and cracks with Drylok Fastplug, which I applied using a double gloved hand to get it nice and smooth. After waiting 30 days for the slab under the sink to cure, I cleaned the whole floor with Simple Green and then acid washed the new patch with “Acid Magic”, neutralizing the acid wash with a baking soda wash once it was etched properly. I rinsed each step thoroughly, pushing the water down a floor drain. I waited a few days for the prepped floor to completely dry. Using a stiff bristled paintbrush, like they recommend, I worked the first coat of paint into all of the nooks and crannies of the short foundation wall around the perimeter, and painted a 6” border all around the floor. I rolled out the rest of the floor with a 1/2” nap roller. It covered the rust and all of the patches fully. I applied the second coat the next day, and it went on even easier and smoother. We were able to walk on it sock-footed after few hours. Since we could avoid this area, we didn’t walk on it in shoes for almost two weeks. The paint is rock hard and has the most beautiful sheen to it. I am so happy with my decision to use E1, I agonized for weeks over which paint to use. We later had a washer and dryer professionally installed, and the floor didn’t scratch at all.

Did some research and opted for floor paint rather than epoxy, which is essentially adhesive that sticks to the surface and does not penetrate. Drylok E1 is an acrylic with epoxy additives. The product has a smooth consistency that covers very well and applies easily. I was able to apply two coats to my 2 car garage with one and a half gallons of product. The essential to any coating is surface prep. My garage was a 20 year old uncoated concrete with oil, paint stains and severe cracks that went across the width of the garage. I filled cracks with Drylok fast-plug, degreased and then etched with muriatic acid to prepare. Applied the first coat of E1 which acts as a primer to the concrete and then the second coat to which I sprinkled flakes to hide some of the cracks etc. I then applied two coats of clear gloss sealer with some anti skid to lock in the flakes and give a shine. It turned out pretty well, is durable and was completed over two days. Make sure to leave it for a week before parking vehicles on. Highly recommend this product.

40 year old garage floor really needed a face lift. This product is wonderful. Makes an old, porous floor water-proof, and beautiful again. Make sure though, that you put on two coats, so it'll last a long time.

Unlike other floor paints we've tried, this one actually sticks. I recommend thorough prep and making sure you have a few days of dry weather coming. The color is fine but I wish it was easier to get Drylok paints tinted for color coordination with the home. Home Depot does not carry a base for darker colors and the paint shop didn't know what to do with another Drylok floor paint I tried. I'm glad I went with the epoxy instead for our concrete porch, and I am very pleased with the durability so far.

            DRYLOK
The key to poor reviews is the fact they are saying the paint didn't adhere to the concrete. Grease or any contaminate will not let the paint bite into the concrete. 27 good ratings vs 3 bad tells the story their prep work was lacking....
