Thank you for using our Dural products and thank you for your question. The Dural WP membrane is your waterproof layer and goes on top of the mortar bed. Seams can be done by overlapping the membranes by 2 inches, or by using the seam tape. I hope this answers your questions. You can always get in touch with us by calling Stefan @ 407-340-4972. Good luck with your project.

Can i use the Dural Durabase on a dry wall, what type of glue i should use , can i use a thin set mortor over it for tiling. Thanx

Answer

Good day Mark, Yes you can use our Durabase WP membrane over dry wall. However, You have to apply a primer first to the dry wall. The primer will give you a better bond and will allow you more time to install the Durabase WP membrane before the thin set mortar skins over. Thin set mortar is used to install the Durabase WP to the drywall. Thank you for using our Dural products.

Can this be used on a wood floor instead of hardibacker?

The Durabase WP is designed for use on walls. We would recommend the Durabase CI++ for use on floors. Please contact us at tech@duralusa.us if you would like more details about the products.

Is this the exact same material as NobleSeal membrane?

Answer

Good day Nika, I don’t know the testing results of the Noble seal. Our Durabase WP membrane is not only a waterproofing membrane, it is also a steam proof membrane and can be used in steam rooms. I hope this will satisfy your questions. Thank you for your interest in our products. Best Regards, Stefan Wild TD Dural

Answer

Good day Chris, Yes, our Durabase WP membrane can be used over Sheetrock. I always prime the Sheetrock, this will give me a little more open time before the thin set mortar skins over. Thank you for using our products.
