Should the backerboard wall panels be installed such that they are on top of the pad, or can they be beside the pad? I'm not sure how to articulate this further, so I drew up a diagram and attached it to this question.
Asked by: 3phase
Thank you for the question. The wall can be on top or beside the pan. In other words, you can install the first and do the walls after, or you do the walls first and the pan after. More important is to make sure you use urethane adhesive around the perimeter, where the walls meet the pan and on top you have to use the WP seam tape with inside and outside corners. Thank you for using our Dural products. Stefan Wild TD Dural

Is a sealing foil, membrane, or other type of sheet required for the corners where the pan meets the wall? If so, what would you recommend?
Asked by: 3phase
Thank you for your question. Yes our Dural Durabase WP seam tape, inside and outside corners are required to be installed around the perimeter where the pan meets the walls. You can use thin set mortar ANSI 118.4 or 118.11 for the installation. Best Regards, Stefan Wild TD Dural

I just receinve this, but it looks like its flat and the same thinkness all over. I thought it would be higher at corners for water to drain in center

Asked by: Eva
Good day Eva, the shower pan has a 2% slope (industry standard), or 1/4” per linear foot. That said, on a 48x48 pan the slope should be from edge to drain 1(2”. To check this I always use a 4 foot level and I measure to see if I have a 1/2” gap at the drain. I personally like a little more slope and when I do a pan I put a little more thin set mortar around the perimeter and I put some weight (bags of thin set mortar) On the center of the pan. I hope this will help. You can always get in touch @ 407-340-4972. Best Regards, Stefan Wild TD Dural

Can I lay 12”x24” tile on topnof this or are those too big?

Asked by: Eva
Good day Eva, The Dural Tilux pan is sloped to the drain on all 4 sides. Using a 12x24 inch tile will require to cut the tiles so it meets the slope. So my answer is yes, I have done it many times and it looks great. Thank you for using our Dural products. Best Regards, Stefan Wild TD Dural
