Natural gas

Asked by Joe September 20, 2020

No, our generators are only tested on gasoline and propane through the carburetor assembly. Changing the fuel source would be considered a modification and would void the manufacturers warranty.

Where do I find instructions on what size generator I need?

Asked by sue September 19, 2020

Answer

Your Needs for a size or KW rating for a Generator depends on what you want to power up in your home. If you just want to run basic things such as the icebox to keep your food from spoiling or maybe a whole house generator . KW means thousand watts, a 5 KW generator would be 5000 thousands,

How well will this unit operate at 6000' elevation?

Asked by Colorado September 16, 2020

Answer

Any elevation beyond 5,000 feet may cause the generator to run a bit rough. For an elevation higher than 5,000 feet you may want consider purchasing a jet kit assembly for the carburetor.

Watts equal amps times volts. 200 amps times 220 volts is 44,000 watts. A 10,000 watt generator certainly won't handle that.

no - you should at least be wired for 60 amps.

Will this generator run on natural gas too?

Yes but at no savings

can this generator come in deisel fuel

Asked by keith September 2, 2020

Answer

I don't believe you'd find too many small residential diesel fuel generators out there . Diesel engines require more power, very frequent servicing and fuel change, won't work well on subzero temperatures and will be generally heavier and more cumbersome to install, service and operate. They are a good solution for high power applications with more than frequent outages as a frequent backup power supply. This genset is not meant to operate for such conditions, and therefore satisfied different operating criteria.

I received this product previously used. Did not work. Apparently this time ships directly from Duromax when you purchase it online. I was sent a used "fried" product when I purchased a new product. The features that this should have are pretty good, but when you can't use it and never was able to use it; very expensive loss.

Converted to natural gas
I get about 5500-6000w continuous on natural gas and no need to worry about refilling. I can run the whole house and one of the following: the cental AC (3 ton); hot water heater; or the electric oven; or 2 electric burners. Im happy with that as I will switch the hot water or range to gas

Pieces broke off some parts felt that they were poorly made, I did my research and thought I was buying a decent unit especially for this price. Even one of the handles to lift and move the machine was not welded properly together and broke off..i am not happy with this unit.. Also that choke feels very loose and flimpsy

easy to set up an easy to run
This Generator could not be easier to set up, after assembly and connecting the battery and propane it is a one button push to start, choke is automatic , I have read many reviews about people saying they could not find the battery cable or the battery is not connected this is because it cannot be shipped with the cable connected to the battery. The negative battery cable is connected at the end of the generator coil at the top you’ll have to remove the four screws to take the little side cover off to get to the battery and battery retaining plate. The battery on my generator was sufficiently charged to start the generator and just a matter of seconds after pushing the button The generator starts right up. Don’t be surprised about the weight of this generator it is a 13 KW rated generator it is not a lightweight. The noise is moderate compared to other generators of similar size you can actually carry on a conversation standing next to it but it is still loud

Box came in slightly damaged. One packing bolt missing, found in bottom of carton. No coiled housing around exposed wires as per photo. After speaking my with Durumax C S, they said they were going to ship a cover. That was 3 weeks ago, none yet. Started right up with propane. So far satisfied.

While the advertising implies that this generator is made in the USA, the engine is not. The unit was delivered in reasonably good shape, but one of the listed shipping braces was missing and the negative battery cable was not connected. Given how short the negative battery cable is, installing it properly was not easy. Manual does not mention the choke, except in the trouble shooting area, which caused a problem in starting the unit manually (because one of the battery cables wasn't connected). I have chosen to operate the unit with propane and given it wasn't mentioned in the start up propane procedure, I assumed it wasn't necessary. It is. Assembly was reasonably easy and once the battery cable was installed, electric start works great. Given it's size and weight, I think it is a an excellent alternative to a whole house generator at substantially less cost.

Awesome
I was researching and scouring the internet wanting a solid Generator that had to be dual fuel and powerful enough to run most of my house or at least what i needed for wife and kids to be comfortable after Irma was out of power for 9 days and had a 7500 ust brand that did the job and still have it but after months of research i narrowed it to either this duromax or the champion both had excellent reviews and most of the negative reviews i saw on the duromax was shipping related damage so i caught this on a very short quick sale @ homedepot.com for $899 then another $100off if apply for HD card so i got it for $799 and the next day was back up to $1299 (currently as well) but i got an ext warranty and a 100lb lpg tank as well and installed a 50amp inlet box w/6awg and did a trial run to see what it can handle,,, it powered almost my entire house ( 2 story w/2.5 ton AC downstairs and 3 ton AC upstairs i did not run the stove or the hot water heater because the dont need to run constant and can run stove with AC off if needed and the water heater stays hot for days and the rest of the house is very efficient with LED lighting thru out and battery back ups on security, internet, cable boxes etc,, i ran it on propane for a couple of hours to make sure it will be fine in an emergency things to note : mine came with the updated LPG hose but i didn't know it right away because its tucked up under the fuel tank above the air box and you really have to look especially since there's no mention of it anywhere on the packaging, i only looked because the HD site description states it comes with it the wheels do flatten over time mines has been sitting for a few months and you can notice it but doesn't seem to effect its maneuverability and i plan to replace them with some fancy ones lol when i ordered it on the HD site i had it shipped to store assuming there would be less chance of shipping damage and if there was i could refuse it have them get another one but luckily it was there on a pallet not a scratch on it no damage whatsoever i see many people stating it has a bonded neutral. it does not , it is a floating neutral & bonded ground which is better if youre using a power inlet box or transfer switch not if you plan to run extension cords either case it should be grounded at the terminal to a grounding rod in the ground overall i am blown away at the quality and especially the price considering hurricane season 2020 is off to a busy start i know i'm ready this is the best bang for the buck as i wanted the 15000w generator but couldnt justify the extra $2000 for that i'll get a briggs & stratton 22kw whole house generator so if you keep checking and find a deal on it jump you wont be dispointed

This is a lot of generator for the money. Easy set up except that the negative of battery was not grounded so I had to land a wire to the motor case. Started right up on propane. Very happy so far but have not tested under load yet.
