Can this tile be used on garage floor? Can I park my car on it?

Asked by Kevin February 11, 2021

Answer

QuicTile is not approved for exterior applications and has a breaking strength of >475lbs, which would not withstand the weight of a vehicle nor it's movement. We do not suggest installing in a garage area. For any questions surrounding the installation and applications of QuicTile, feel free to reach out to our customer support team at 1-877-757-8421.

Can this be installed over electric radiant heat flooring?

Asked by Tif January 30, 2021

Answer

QuicTile can currently only be installed with Ditra Heat and needs to be installed with ¼: self-leveler to ensure dispersion of heat to the tile. Without this step, the process is not acceptable. NOTE: Ditra-Heat DUO is not recommended at this time.

Can this tile and system be installed over Schluter Ditra Heat? Thanks.

Will this tile crack or break once installed?

Asked by Wendell January 17, 2021
1
Answer

Thank you for your inquiry. Like any other porcelain tile, QuicTile will not break or crack if properly installed and maintained. The primary cause for cracking tile is from having a void underneath. With QuicTile, ensure the subfloor is dead-flat: No more than a 3/16” rise or drop over 10 feet (or 1/16” in 1 foot). Fill low areas or grind down high areas. Note that an unflat floor can also cause cracking in the grout. Note that a very heavy object dropped on even a properly installed tile can result in cracks. This is true for all tiles, traditional or QuicTile. If you have any further questions feel free to call our customer service line at 1-877-757-8421.

Disappointed by the design
So I was all excited to install the panda polished porcelain In my walk in closet conversion but I found the randomness looks way too busy, and set out to piece them together in a way that forms more of a slab appearance. After a week of sorting these heavy fragile tiles trying to figure out what the pattern is I am seriously considering just using something else. Here’s why. 1) they do have tiles that match, but, for some reason, they match in pairs of two, lined up next to each other as squares..and the instructions very clearly state that it is incorrect to use a straight grid layout. They want the tiles staggered. They don’t line up the pattern that way. 2) it’s kinda rude they don’t provide more information about the tile pattern. I don’t like that I had to spend so much time figuring out as much as I could on my own. Now I’m wanting to use it only as matches squares around the perimeter of a square tiled with pure while marble. However I assume that will require a different underlayment process and am not trilled About wasting money on Quictile underlayment When I’m gonna have to throw it away and use these like regular tiles,

Response from Daltile SupportFeb 19, 2021
Hello Rachel, we apologize for the difficulty you had with the installation and appreciate your feedback. As with all floating flooring systems, the interlocking stagger is very important to create the structural strength that helps to turn a single tile into an interlocked whole structure. If tiles were lined up, they would pitch up and down individually and in rows, the grout would crack and the tiles gap.

An interlocked whole structure also maintains an even and fluid expansion and contraction action. As for the pattern on the tile surface, since the tile was not designed to line up perfectly, it is a random placement method which creates a more realistic, natural effect. We don’t recommend mixing different installation methods when it comes to flooring, but we would like to assist in any way we can. Please call us at 1-877-757-8421, and we will gladly assist you

I received the dactile locking floor tile about three weeks ago and it's looking good. The tile is a very innovative technology that is helpful for DIY. It locks just like the lock it wood floor, but it's heavier. The quicprep underlayment and the quic tile grout are recommended for a good outcome. The underlayment is the best that I have used. It is easy to install by unfolding it and cutting it by following the outlines.

Waste of time and money
We should have read all the reviews on here instead of ordering in the store. The product came in two weeks later than stated, and then was a colossal waste of money and time. The tiles chipped while cutting, the “click and lock” edges broke off with minimal handling - completely worthless.

Response from Daltile SupportFeb 5, 2021
We apologize for the difficulty you had with the installation and appreciate your feedback. Some small chipping in the click profile is ok, up to 1”. We suggest either using tiles with chipped edges along the perimeter of the floor (you should remove the click profile from all perimeter expansion spaces anyway) or returning them to the store. For these and other questions, we offer our toll-free customer service line for anyone having difficulties during installation. If you contact us, we can assist you with all aspects of QuicTile installation. Please call us at 1-877-757-8421. This Daltile QuicTile Panda Marble Polished porcelain 12 inches x 24 inches floor tile is a gorgeous, high- end and modern tile. It is easy to install by using their instructions to the letter as I did. I am a 64 year old grandmother and I was able to lay this tile down and using a small wet saw to cut the pieces I needed to fit around the vent and toilet opening. It is a click together tile which makes it easy to know if you have the tile laying in the right direction and one that gives you the right amount of space between the tiles. After removing my bathroom door, unhooking the water line and removing the toilet. I lay out the tile in the pattern on the floor to see which way looked best and to see how many tiles I would have to cut. I spent two days on and off cutting and measuring the tiles for precision and laying it out on the floor as it was cut. The tile was heavy to hold and cut since the wet saw I had was small. I think if I had a bigger saw with a longer extension table to hold the tile, it would have been much easier. After all tiles were cut and placed, I numbered them going across from left to right and then removed them to clean the floor. I vacuum and mopped my existing flooring and laid down the underlayment as you can see in the pictures below. Then started laying out the tile doing two layers wide and long and began to grout. Grouting for me was new and it was very easy to do with the grout recommended for this tile. Using a float grout tool worked great in grouting. After finishing up grouting, I was so thrilled and excited at the results. Just look at the final pictures! I just love it!

Very impressed with these tiles!! We like the clock together system and the time it saves. Instead of laying a bed of grout and doing all the leveling, you lay down the underlayment partnered with the tile and then place the tile down and click the others together. After clicking them together you use grout (also partnered with the tiles) to seal the joints between them. This system is a big time saver and more diy’er friendly for those of us (myself included) that balk at getting grout perfect. The color of the tile is also very nice - we really like the blends of light colors and greys. They look great! They are a half inch thick and feel very sturdy. Very impressed!!

I saw these tiles and I stopped! Captured by their beauty. Saying they are beautiful and how much in love with them I am...well just isn’t enough! I can’t begin to describe their beauty! The elegance they bring whether it’s to a floor a table top, a wall and yes it’s flooring and there’s suggestions as to what they are for is flooring...but for me....it’s use is endless. I got these for the bathroom floors all four of the bathrooms! The elegance of these tiles speaks volumes!!! It speaks to me I’m rich beyond my dreams and I’m in the most expensive and most beautiful place in the world! Even better I don’t have to leave!!! Laying these new QuicTiles Reinvented” oh my words! They are indeed beautiful beyond words, But they are indeed as advertised!!! strong and easy to install as stated on the packaging 1, 2, 3. Underlayment, Click Tiles together and Grout! If you need a place or places in your home or office that will transform not only the room or rooms then look no further. These tiles once laid take you to that space where you feel worth having this type of beauty and elegance and it’s easy as 1,2,3! I started in the smallest bathroom choosing the tiles I loved the best to lay out and give this bathroom the sense of being larger than what it is. After ensuring the floor was clean and dry zero moisture, I laid down the underlayment and trimmed to the size of the room Easy breezy. Then I began choosing the tiles in the pattern I wanted. Okay yes I could not lay them all straight across because yes I did read the instructions!!! Important because these aren’t just any old tiles, these tiles are Porcelain floor tiles in polished Calacatta Marble reinvented! I have never bragged so much until just now! They are super strong and sturdy! Beautiful and easy to install. After I laid the pattern I was very happy and well pleased with my choice. I can live in this room and I was just as excited to complete the other bathrooms. This changes literally the feeling of your entire home I’m meaning to say Any Room, Any Area will be immediately transformed with beauty and elegance. I begin clicking them in place and trimming the odd and very small 3 piece bathroom. The grouting was even easier. Now transformed into a palace like atmosphere! Yes I’m referring the world to these tiles everyone should have this feeling in at least one space in their home

This is a perfect DIY product. No cement bed or mortar required. The tiles come with a quick lock system, which does 2 things. It locks the tiles into each other, and it automatically sets your spacing. You need to do one very important thing. Before you lay the underlayment down, you will need to make sure your floor is completely level. Use self leveling cement and that should cure any issues. Look at DIY Creators on YouTube for a great install review. https://youtube.com/c/DIYCreators

The tile is very heavy and difficult to install. It does not simply click in, but requires lots of pounding with a rubber mallet. The end product looked ok until we applied grout. There is a stubborn film that won’t wash away with either grout cleaner or Windex.

Response from Daltile SupportJan 13, 2021
We apologize for the complications you had with the installation and appreciate your feedback. To remove grout haze after the grout has cured, you will want to use Aqua Mix Grout Haze Remover, available at Home Depot. Remember, we offer our toll-free customer service line for anyone having questions or difficulties before, during or after installation. Other suggestions for those perhaps experiencing some of the same things you were is that with the heavy porcelain tiles, a rubber mallet is too bouncy. We recommend a hard plastic mallet. Also, just prior to grouting, pre-wet the floor and then fully clean small, grouted areas before moving on. This makes grout cleanup much easier. For these and all other questions, please call us at 1-877-757-8421.

Daltile QuicTile is a FANTASTIC floating porcelain tile system!!! I had given up on ever laying another tile floor - the mortar and mess. It seemed no matter how hard I worked laying out the tile, I was never satisfied with the result. Professionals make it look easy as they lay perfectly troweled mortar and tap the tiles a few times and they're all level - no proud corners. But it's never that easy. I even resorted to spacer systems and quick grout. Then I had the great fortune of discovering the QuicTile floating system by Daltile. It takes all the mess and frustration out of laying a beautiful tile floor. ANYONE can tackle this project and come out looking like a pro. The tiles easily lock together - just like floating wood or vinyl plank flooring and for the Calacatta option leaves a perfect 1/8" space for grout for professional looking spacing. The system includes an underlayment that not only supports the tile but also provides a gridwork to keep everything square. A typical sized room can easily be laid and grouted within a day. No overnight waiting for mortar to cure. I chose the Calacatta Marble Polished Porcelain option in large format 12in x 24in tiles with accompanying Frost grout. I'm totally blown away at the quality of the high gloss polished finish and the marble pattern in this tile. It is as good as the real thing. In a previous home I had a real Carrara marble floor in the master bath - loved it but not the maintenance. So being familiar with marble flooring, I was anxious to lay out several tiles and walked on them barefoot and was astounded the "feel" is just like marble. Once laid it will be extremely difficult for the floor not to be considered real marble without the sealing and maintenance of marble. The Calacatta pattern is superb and mimics high end Calacatta tile you'd expect to find in public baths in Italy. My project is a 14ft x16ft sunroom and I could not have chosen a better tile to install. I can't wait to see the project complete. A recent back surgery has held me back and causing me to put off my install for a while however I did want to get a review out there to share my impressions on the system and quality of the tile in case others are looking for other customer's experience with the system. Don't hesitate to choose Daltile Quictile Porcelain Locking Floor Tile. I'm hoping to have enough left over to re-tile my Master bath I like this tile that much!

I'm a very handy, DIY/contractor home owner, and I would NOT recommend this product
I have an almost perfectly level ~700 sq ft game room and was keen on saving time by not having to glue down porcelain tile. The interlock is an interesting, new technology, and I was eager to try it. For one, in no case should you think that a novice (to whom this is marketed) will succeed. It is not an "easy" tile, as marketed. Plus, you should (really, you must) factor in the DacTile padding to the cost, as well as the very expensive urethane grout, making this about a $10/sq ft. endeavor. We locked the tile down and there a few areas with very minor movement. However, once you lock the tile in, you have no "play" because you can't pull out a center tile out. I'm not OK with imperfection and didn't want any future cracks, so I identified the 3-4 tiles that had a little movement, pulled up the interlock and glued those (and adjacent tiles) down. Relocked the tile, and out of an abundance of caution, used the Dactile urethane grout because it has some flex. It looked beautiful for a couple days, but the interlock is unforgiving, under basic traffic, and some minor cracks began to appear in the areas we glued. Mind you, you are not supposed to need glue at all. I reidentified a few problem areas; grinded the grout away, cut off the interlock in those areas, glued again, waited 3 days, and re-grouted. The floor is beautiful now, but this was an odyssey I would NEVER repeat. The time and frustration to lay this tile is mind-boggling, and the easy-install marketing (for wary consumers) does not represent the true effort and expense. On balance, you will end up spending as much as a professional tile layer, and you won't get the time back. Not a rewarding experience.
