Hello Scott, This appliance is intended for free-standing installation only and is not intended to be built-in. Building in this appliance can cause it to malfunction. I would suggest putting it underneath a covered porch if you have it, or building a shelter above it. Make sure the unit has a minimum of 5 inches of space on both sides, top and back so it can properly ventilate. Regards, Sasha

It should be covered . It is an outside refrigerator but in the owner’s manual it says it’s not waterproof
