Product Overview

At last, a lavender truly adapted to our hot, humid summers and tough winters. Phenomenal is a groundbreaking hardy cultivar, truly a breeding breakthrough that every American gardener will love. This new American introduction refuses to die back in winter, tolerates extreme heat and humidity without melting out, resists rot and stands up to other foliar diseases that can make Lavender a challenge to grow. In other words, it conquers all the stumbling blocks that have held lavender back in gardens across the country. On Phenomenal, the bright blue blooms are held well above the silvery-green foliage, creating a canopy of color breathtaking even in a small planting. Both the flowers and the foliage are strongly fragrant. No wonder this plant was featured in the March/April 2014 issue of Fine Gardening Magazine and Better Homes and Gardens even named it a Must Grow Perennial. Phenomenal reaches about 24 in. to 32 in. high and wide, blooming heavily in late spring and early summer (much sooner than most other lavender varieties). We heartily recommend it for borders, meadows, mass plantings and containers in full sunshine and well-drained soil. Zones 4-8.

So far so good in S FL
I had difficulty getting lavender to live here in south Florida. Came across an article on this new variety and how hardy it was in hot humid environments. When I searched the net I found a link for it at THD. Never bought plants on line at THD but decided to give it a shot. Plant arrived quickly directly from the grower. Was packaged well. Planted it according to directions. I did use cactus soil being all I have is sand. So far so good with several inches of growth after a month so giving it an excellent rating. Plant is fragrant. Still have to mulch around the plant but I will be using decorative rock to help the plant to dry off after rains.

Waste of money. I have experience with Lavender and I thought I would be able to bring these back to life. All 3 plants already had brown patches. I realized when planting them there weren't any roots!! Not one survived, DON'T BUY!!! Very disappointed!!

The lavender plants have adapted well to the soil. I am hoping that they will proliferate. So far, so good.

Died immediately. Home depot replaced them with 4 healthy plants and they are doing well. Packing is a little suspect and not well done.
