4 in. x 4 in. Wood Flat Fancy Post Cap (6-Pack)

the product is as advertised and looks good on my fence. BUT the box comes from Georgia and had many cockroaches in it. They invaded my garage and I have had to spray with Parythrin to try to get rid of them. So beware. COCKROACHES are in the box. HW

Except for the overall shape, the product I received DID NOT look like the picture. What I got had big knots in them, and a lot of the shaped cuts were rough and splintered. I ordered the product twice. In the first shipment 3 of the 6 were not useable, and I returned the shipment. The second shipment was marginally better but had the same defects and bad workmanship in 5 of the 6. I will have to spend a LOT OF TIME SANDING THE PIECES TO GET THEM USEABLE. Your on line photo certainly does not represent what you are shipping !!!!!

Here's the deal: ANY review on here that is positive is probably being written by the company that makes or distributes them. Cheap plastic ones would be an improvement. These are Not a great product at a great price. They're a terrible product at a terrible price for what they are, which is ****ABSOLUTE GARBAGE***** They honestly look like rejects that should have been tossed out during quality control. Maybe one of the 36 we ordered for our new fence is usable as-is. Not one corner joint is lined up. Not one could be brushed up against without causing injury to body or clothing. Presumably, these were assembled while the wood was still wet and then, of course, shrank so that the corners all have gaps. BIG gaps. Yeah. We knew they weren't miterless, but we did expect the corners would more or less line up and to appear to be, well, Corners, right? Not sure you can see the 4" cap with the one inch gap on the corner (along with others in the box). It seemed a natural assumption that the manufacturer would wait until the wood was dry before "assembling" them if you can call it that. What is that pretty picture in the ad all about? It is an idealistic version of what these Should look like after you've put more time and more money into fixing each one. That's what. They all have splinters, especially on the tops. They were not sanded where they were rough cut on the most prominent part. I'm not sure sanding could fix these as the splinters translate to missing chunks of wood which require a Bondo like product to repair, which means stain or clear finish is out of the question. These are a few pics selected at random from the pile of 4x4 and 6x6's we ordered. Some are a little better, some a little worse. It's a pity Home Depot is willing to sell these to us but I'm sure this is exactly why they're only selling them online. How else could they off these? They should be advertised as "Factory rejects. Partly assembled, rough hewn, unfinished caps for woodworkers who enjoy fixing broken or misaligned caps that the manufacturer would have otherwise had to toss. Not usable as-is. Not for decorative purposes unless either re-cut or reinforced, treated with weatherproof putty (Bondo) then painted. Not suitable for staining or clear finishes. Not suitable for use around children or people wearing lightweight clothing that tears when snagged. Not sold to protect your posts. Please let us know your creative use for them. Warning: Contains black mold." Did I mention the black mold? That's the black stuff on the wood, which is still wet. Yeah, I do realize I can return them for a refund. Thanks. That's how I enjoy spending my time.

Product great for the price! When painted or sealed out last the more expensive cap.

While the wood products were exactly what I wanted, the exemplary service at the Walden/Union store should be noted!

These post are ok. The cedar fence I bought was a piece of junk. After one rain they all warped.

The quality was absolutely the worst. What I received did not look at all like the pictures online. No smooth edges. Large gaps on mitred corners. I returned my entire order. Home Depot should not be selling this product.
