Questions & Answers

i try to cover up my garden / veggies from birds...will this product work for this purpose?

i have even seen bird netting destroyed by birds, so i think this product should be more sturdy against birds when its build for "keep deers out"
Asked by: AlexT
Excellent product, I find better than bird netting, It confuses birds who can hardly see it, and cannot perch or run on it as they can on the heavier "bird netting". You bust keep it clear of actual contact with you or plants though. It catches and easily tangles with the littles of stems or twigs, etc.

If you hit like a major leaguer, my guess would be no. For the rest of us minor leaguers, don't worry, it will hold.

It is rolled up, but can be folded into a smaller shape and would fit in a suitcase.

Probably the same as the "bird" netting. It works ok. We planted 30 trees (various maples, elms, etc. some "supposedly" deer resistant) and two weeks later the deer came through and butchered 5 - 7 trees. We then fenced some with chicken wire and some with this product. We have not had any loss with the netted trees except where the deer pushed it aside a little and ate away. You have to put multiple stakes around the trees and secure it strongly - that seems to work.

Last year I planted tomatoes and the next day they were gone (eaten by deer). Not anymore since I now surround my plants with protective fencing. I put up some tall wooden stacks and stapled the fencing to them. The fencing is almost invisible to the eye. Deer must be very frustrated.

At this time it is certainly deterring the hawk. It sees it and doesn't even attempt to swoop down to get entangled. It is also pretty easy to work with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only thing that works! I've been trying to keep the deer out of the garden for years. This has been the only thing that works. It is easy to roll out and use a staple gun to attach to wooden posts. Our deer jump and are very persistent. I started with a 4ft base perimeter - made from the hard plastic green rolls and metal welded garden fencing. After seeing them jump over the fence with ease to munch on zuchini flowers I added 1" x 2" x 8' wood posts - furring strips they're called (very cheap). I beat the 8ft posts into the ground every 6-10ft and just stapled the deer netting for a super effective and tall deer proof garden perimeter.

I purchased this specifically to keep squirrels out of my tomato plants. It took a few attempts and tweaks, but I was able to drape, stake, tie, and surround the plants so that now there is only an occasional bite out of a tomato. If the tomatoes are too close to the netting, the squirrels will actually grab the tomato and eat through the netting - but the netting doesn't tear. We are going to construct a more squirrel-proof enclosure for next year's garden, and we will use this netting again because although it is thin, it is sticky and the varmints don't like getting their paws caught in it. I also used it to keep feral hogs from getting under our deck, and they have avoided it.

It is fantastic and keeps all wildlife from destroying my gardens. It's easy to design a barrier around your garden by using this netting, PVC pipes (spray paint black) and fencing post (6 ft. tall - spray paint black) to ensure strength so the deer cannot knock down this fencing idea. I also use tent pegs (spray paint black as well) to grab the netting and pull to the ground so rabbits and squirrels cannot crawl under. I also can bury this netting in the ground and it will not deteriorate over time. The netting works well in all weather! It also keeps me from buying spray repellant products to keep deer, rabbits, snakes, and squirrels out of the gardens, which also washes away in rain or when I use my irrigation system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deer Problem solved This has absolutely solved my problem with deer and rabbits ruining my garden. This year, the garden is 25'x15'. I put 6 posts (8' landscape timbers) about 6" outside the borders, 3 along the long sides and wrapped this fence around it and have 6-7' left over. I used a staple gun to attach the netting/fencing. But, if you pull it somewhat tight, you don't need to use much to attach. I figure that I'll be able to use this multiple times. It's a very light material; much like a cast net. Two people are needed to work with it because it's so light that you can't lay it out flat. But, installation is a breeze. Hang marker tape on it's sides to remind you that it's there and to spook critters. My wife also hung a couple of pie tins to make a bit of noise.

The net is already folded over in the roll, making it less tangle when open up and cut the roll. so far my raised veggie bed has been free of rodent/deer damage since we hung this net.
