I am very knowledgeable and capable of programming timers so I was very disappointed with this timer. Regardless of the programming it would not turn on and off at the times set. I reset several times and reprogrammed again and nothing worked. Yes, it was set to “Auto”. When set to “On” it works, when set to “OFF” it is off. I didn’t use “Ran” (random) mode. Another issue I don’t like able this digital timer is that when you unplug it, all the programming is erased. My other digital timers all have battery backup so you don’t lose the programming. So back to mechanical timer where it is more reliable

Hello Jerry, thank you for providing your feedback and letting us know about the issue. It is very possible that the timer was not turning on after you set your programming because of when you actually programmed it during the day. For example, if your program was set for 8AM - 5PM, and you setup the timer at 1pm that day, then the timer will begin its schedule the next day at 8AM. This unit does have a backup battery that is designed to keep your settings, so you might try removing it and reinserting it.
