Got these when they were on sale. They are excellent and no issues other then its takes about 2-5-seconds for the switch to turn on after motion is recognized. (FYI the sensor will not pick up motion thru windows and must be mounted outside within 80feet from switch.) I'm a tech guy and figured how to program it very easily to my liking which may be slightly complicated for the novice user. Great product none the less, with 7-day independent timer, motion or dust/dawn settings. No complaints with setup or functionality and price. :)

So far so good. I DID NOT use the sensor portion of this Timer. I bought this timer ONLY for the timer portion, and that is working as advertised. Follow the directions and this set-ups super easy and fast.

The timer is easy to set up. You have 4 wires and you just have to use a wire nut for each to connect them to the corresponding wires. The black will be the Hot, the Blue will be the load (bulb), the White will be the neutral and the Green will be the ground. Don't mess up the Blue with the Black. You need to know which of the 2 black wires in your outlet is the line or hot (use a non touch stick). When the power is back and your timer installed, just put some battery (3*1.5 AA) in the sensor and set it to "T" for Test at the bottom , the red light will be on and off, then start to press the Reset button on the timer until you see RESET scrolling on the screen then release. Going through the menu is easy. Just use "Enter" and +/- in order to change the value. When you are done and see "SAVE" on the screen, your setting are saved and then comes the pairing with the sensor. You'll see "PAIR" on the screen. Make sure the sensor has a red light and press enter once with the sensor in proximity of the timer. If paired successfully, you should see "Paired" on the screen. You are done. The documentation doesn't say if you have to switch back the sensor from "T" Test to "A" Auto however on the back of the page it says the following. If you want the sensor to operate all the time, leave it on "T", if you want the sensor to operate at night only, leave it on "A". Of course, I don't need my light during the day for the patio, so I set it up to "A". So far it's been working well. You'll find many other options for the configuration of the timer in the documentation like turning the light as random while in vacation, set days where you want the light on or off... For less than $10, I recommend it.

The timer is not only SunSmart but also brain smart. It has 7 programs and other modes. However, finally, I found the timer only worked at the random feature because it can decide itself when turn on and when turn off no matter how you setup the timer. It also can change date as itself wish. I setup 02/26/2017 on Sunday but I found it showed Wednesday on Monday. Maybe, it do not like Monday or Tuesday. Anyway, frankly speaking, the hardware itself is good but I do not know who designed the smart programs.

I wanted a cheaper solution than Lutron's LRF2-OCRB-P-WH and Lutron MRF2-6ANS-WH, to satisfy the following specification: -Required: Wireless, battery operated sensor Single pole light switch that takes signal from the wireless sensor Switches on when sensing motion Switches off when does not sense motion for an X amount of time -Optional: Disregard motion and turning on if enough ambient light present Unfortunately this unit works much better when programmed to turn on/off at pre-programmed times, than an as occupancy/vacancy sensor. I followed the manufacturer's installation and programming instructions, but for some reason it does not sense the motion well enough to turn on, neither does it effectively count-down to time off (light stays on). I hope that these flaws are not due to mis-programming or other user error, otherwise this might be more difficult to program than a VCR. In the instructions, the manual mentions that the motion sensor, while in Auto mode (its normal mode) "...works only at night. When motion is detected, this motion triggers timer to turn on for the programmed countdown time you set on the timer." What's vague about this statement is what considered to be "night." Is it the time after the "dusk" and before "dawn" times? If so, my occ sensor is useless during day time, even if the space is underlit. It does not appear that the sensor has an ambient light sensor. My recommendation to Defiant is to keep things simple - get rid of time zones, day light savings, programmable on/off schedules - only keep the wireless PIR that's sensitive and adjustable, also add an ambient light sensor too. The industry is moving away from time clocks - Defiant should too.

All we wanted was a motion sensor to turn outdoor flood lights on and off from an interior wall switch. We previously used another brand for about eight years but it failed and we cannot replace it. This product comes with a variety of user settings for time-on, time-off, weekdays on and weekdays off, calendar, and even time zone, none of which we want! After several calls to tech support during the past month, we found that we cannot use this solely as a motion sensor, but instead we need to go through a poorly designed user interface for settings that we don't need and don't want. We give this a failing grade for user interface, excess capabilities, elaborate modal menus, and, at first, befuddled tech support. Hopefully, we can return this to Home Depot.

I have 3 of this. The motion sensor failed gradually, now they all not detecting the motion sensor in setup. Plus, the timer and motion sensor do not work together at the beginning. You can only use them as timer or motion sensor. Highly not recommended.

I installed my Digital timer switch with motion sensor last week. It is doing the job but I am still working on adjusting the motion sensor. The instruction guide needs to be more specific on how high to locate of the motion sensor needs to be and how to program the motion sensor along.I will recommend this product.
