Featuring a Limited Lifetime Guarantee, the Defiant deadbolt resists against drilling, sawing, picking and prying. The Powder coated finish will provide years of durability. The EZ Fit latch supports both 2-3/8 in. and 2-3/4 in. backset distances. Also featured is a radius face plate for a traditional latch installation or the latch can be converted to a drive-in configuration when necessary. The design of the Defiant deadbolt provides an easy installation experience with only a Phillips screwdriver when replacing an existing lock. Defiant keyed locks can be re-keyed to fit your existing KW1 keyway. Please speak with your local Home Depot for further information about this process.

Swapping out a new entry lock set isn't complete without installing a deadbolt. After refreshing my side door hardware with anchoring hinges with 3 inch screws and swapping out the door lock set with a Definant satin nickel lever style lock set I also decided to add the security of a deadbolt. Swapping out the deadbolt would be a quick easy 5 minute job, but I needed to drill a hole to do so. My doors are custom height and I wasn't quite comfortable drilling through a custom steel door so I asked my handyman who has much more skill for this than me. After drilling the appropriate sized hole, installing the Definant single cylinder deadbolt was a piece of cake. The satin nickel finish of the deadbolt matched the Definant lever lockset perfectly and although difficult in photographing, the finish is a quality satin nickel - very modern and upscale. The deadbolt itself has a smooth and secure operation. I'm glad I chose this deadbolt to enhance my home security.

The Contemporary Round Bright Chrome Double Cylinder Deadbolt is of excellent quality. It also looks very nice. But I wish I would have paid more attention because it is the type of deadbolt that you have to have a key inside and out to lock and unlock the door. We had one of these type deadbolts when we lived down south and it was not very convenient. You do get all the parts needed and the instructions are very good.

I had the opportunity to get 3 black stylish door knobs for my foyer. The flooring in the foyer is black slate and the trim is dark. The door knob looked good but the dead bolt was different. When I saw this item, I knew I had to get it to complement the other knobs. I took it to the store and had it keyed to match the other lock --a simple and painless process for the professional at my local store.Now the foyer is completely updated as far as hardware goes.

Does Not work in metal security door!
Everything is the same size as the old lock that it's replacing EXCEPT the bolt is too fat and won't go into the door. It requires grinding of the metal opening to make the opening larger. I think it might be easier to buy new security doors than screw around with this. I am going to return this and explore options.
