Most interior room doors are 1 1/4” and my metal entry door to the house measures 1 3/4”. I believe the maximum thickness for a fit was 2 1/8.”

What diameter is it?

The inside viewer is 3/4", and the outside viewer is 1 1/4". The store description gives measurements as 1.18" depth, 1.18" width, and 1.779 height. A user who installed it used a 3/4" hole drill, but recommends using a 3/4" drill bit, and going in from the outside. In installing mine, I started out with a 1/2" drill bit, and had a devil of a time making it larger by reaming, files, etc. In other words, achieving a round hole of the right size does require using a larger bit--otherwise you will wind up with something lopsided. It is also important to make sure your hole is level so that it sees outside with a straight on view. Finally did get it installed. Something that should have been easy was made difficult by my own mistakes, so be forewarned. It wound up quite beautiful, and a really good door viewer.

The housing refers to the body of the unit which will go through the door. There are no additional fasteners that will cause issues. This unit is a two-piece system in which fasteners are not required. This door viewer can be installed in a Fiberglass door.

Can this be installed on a fiberglass door?

We recently moved to new house and our home didn't had the door viewer. We don't want to rely on technology but being rely on seeing and believing. We installed the door viewer and was amazed by the width and the degree it covers. Wow. After our handyman installed it looks awesome.

Does what is says. Used a 5/8" hole saw, I should have used a 5/8" drill bit. I recommend starting your pilot hole from the street view side of the door. I would like an option for a beauty ring on the inside in case hole edge needs covered.

we checked out several different brands and by far this one is the best viewer of them all. clear magnified viewing that tripled my viewing area from our front door. easy to install with proper 5/8ths drill bit by enlarging previous hole for smaller viewer. two piece screw in couldn't have made it any more simple for installing. We are impressed with the view of our entire 10x10 porch from inside with this door viewer. Fantastic product and reasonably priced for the quality.

Works great and was easy to install. Definitely pre-drill both sides of the door with a smaller drill for a smoother/straighter drilling experience with the 5/8" drill. Cosmetically it would be nice have a decorative ring for the "inside" end of the viewer, but it's not a deal breaker.
