Q:Will this work to cover a filter and water softener system for an Rv. It is outside of the Rv.

Answer This Question
A: I can’t answer specifically regarding an RV; however we used this to cover exterior valves on our home during our Arizona desert winter when temperatures can drop below freezing occasionally. We had to ‘ customize’ it (had to cut a slit and then seal it with tape) to fit over a pipe coming out of the house, where the pouch wouldn’t go over.
For our purposes it worked great, and we will be able to reuse them this winter, and for as long as they hold up!

Answer This Question
A:Â I purchased two pouches so I could cover my water main and back flow which are situated in a T configuration. I was successful at cutting one end of a pouch, then zip tying it shut. I used extra strength duck tape to close the exposed edges before the pouch was applied. It has been very effective in the winter months.

A:Â Yes Sarah you can cut the material relatively easy, if the sump pump is place mark the location on the bottom of the rock where the pipe will need to extend out of. Mark on the rock where the pipe will need to extend out of the rock. Using a hole saw or by marking a circle and cutting with a jig saw cut the circle out of the material in the proximity of the where you feel the pipe will need to extend from. Next would be to simply cut up with a jig saw to the height of where the pipe will extend out of the rock. The rock is flexible enough to separate to get the pipe up and into position. Protection from the weather and elements will not be a secure but will nicely over the piping.

A:Â I believe so. Make sure you wrap it well and keep any wind from getting under the edges if it is outside.

A:Â I am sure you could do this. However I dont think it will prevent freezing. You could purchase Heat Tape, seach Home Depot for this product.

This is a well designed product, aesthetically pleasing, and it provided the right amount of protection for my Backflow meter that was standing alone out in the cold. Its unfortunate that i learned some lessons the hard way and was introduced to this gem of a product after the fact and after a costly repair, but shortly after installing, we had another "Hard-Freeze", here in the PanHandle. Who Knew. While others who had not invested and thought they had rode out the storm, were awakening to a nightmare, I had a 2nd helping of my morning breakfast, stretched for my morning run, and thanked my lucky stars for having the courage to purchase the right equipment, and the wisdom to always do the right thing. Thank you Home Depot.

I bought this to cover the sprinkler back flow pipe and protect it from the freeze. If you read the fine print, this product is to be used with their faux rock which would be impossible to cover the pipes here because of their location close to the house and height. This pouch was expensive! It cost as much as the repair to the bonnet and poppet that busted. Lesson learned, just drain the water out by closing the two levers and drain the water with the two flat head screws at the back flow.
