Q:when is it going to be back in stock how do i get a rain check
by|Dec 18, 2017
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A:Â Hi larry, we do not offer rainchecks or layaways for products on Homedepot.com. All sales are 'while supplies last' and are usually given a displayed time frame unless otherwise displayed on the product page. Per our vendor, this 6 in. x 89 in. Oscillating Edge Sander is estimated to be restocked in early January, which is subject to change. Thanks for shopping Home Depot!

Q:Can this be used on metals? Like for blacksmithing or just doing projects woth metals such as titanium, aluminum, etc.

Answer This Question
A:Â I haven't used it on metal but I would say you could but a bench grinder would be a better choice.
by|Dec 28, 2017
A:Â I just went over the specs. It appears to have more than enough motor and speed for metal work. I am considering purchasing it for knife making.
by|Nov 1, 2015
A:Â Should be fine for metal as long as you get an appropriate belt. Aluminum oxide should be good for steel and aluminum, don't know about titanium. Be careful about mixed use with wood, as wood dust could catch fire from hot metal.

Great Sander.
I really enjoy this sander. I have used it for two months, and can say that it is a well built beast of a machine. The dust catcher manages to catch most of the dust, but I still use a dust mask when I am sanding. I cannot imagine using this without a good dust collection system.
My sander runs on 230 volts, and I have never felt that it needed more power. I normally use 80 or 100 grit for most work, and it does a great job. It is very easy to change belts. I have used it continuously for over an hour and the motor got warm but not too hot to touch.
Assembly took about two hours. An hour of that was spent removing the packing grease. Assembly requires two strong people. The heavy weight helps to keep it stable during use.

Works very well
Purchased the sander a few years ago. Shipped to the store. Pick up was easy.
Easy to assemble and setup. Directions were well written and easy to follow.
The sander has worked flawlessly. Belt change is straight forward, dust collection is excellent with about 98%. The auxiliary table is a bit awkward when stored.

I bought this machine in December of 2016 and didn't take it out of the box until this month- March 2018. The drive roller was cracked. Despite a 5 year warranty they will not replace it.

This machine was easy to assemble. The belt tracked perfect right out of the box. I sanded all my cabinet door edges with a great result, square, smooth, straight and professional looking. I would recommend this sander. I plan to use it for many more projects. Ordering through my local Home Depot store only took three days. The store employees loaded it onto my trailer and away I go. I ordered an outdoor grill cover to protect it while not in use. Looks good in my shop. Great addition. I like the powerful 1 1/2 hp motor and quality steel it is constructed of. The Delta LOGO shaped knobs are not very ergonomical to use. I have had it a month now and no regrets.

Very good equipment
Second time I have purchased an edge sander in my career. Fist time was a Taiwan made sander that lasted me 14 years. This delta is a much higher quality.
And easy to assemble.

Under powered.
The sander is a solidly built sander. It sets up easily, within an hour. I found the sander is under powered and the belt can be stopped easily while sanding a piece of wood. I currently have it connected to 120 v power and will try 220 v to see if it will have more power.
