It is 9" from the center of the chuck (bit) to the column so you can center drill a piece 18" in width or diameter. Two laser lines can be adjusted to cross to identify the center of the bit. I don't use the lasers because they would only remain accurate if you never moved the table. Even with the lasers you still have to mark the work where you want to drill so just align the work to the drill point. Twist drills do not have a sharp point so I often use a brad point bill to align the work, clamp the work in place, then switch to the twist drill for the actual drilling.
this unit has a 1-16mm chuck (0.040" to 5/8")

Yes it has a quick release
I have some tiny bits, never had a problem with using small bit with this DP.
No. Made in China and it shows....
No, but the dual depth stops allow you to lower the quill, set the stop to hold it down, then insert a tool into the spline groove to stop the quill from spinning. I use this method to get extra torque on the keyless chuck I added. Quick and easy.
The chuck key has a built in spring loaded ejection pin to keep you from leaving it in the chuck. Mine fits without a problem, but requires you to apply pressure when tightening.
No. The machines shipping weight is 290 lbs. It's not easily moved but that's also a plus. The weight makes it very stable.
It is a floor model drill press and because of it's weight it is very stable.
