Q:Which of the Delta chrome handheld shower heads with a 6 ft hose will work with this diverter??

Answer This Question

A: All Hand held & mounted shower heads will fit. The outlet sizes are standard at 1/2 MPT and can be used with any style or brand. The inlet size is also 1/2" FPT to fit all standard shower arms.

A: I believe they all will work, any one. The size of the one in and two outs are the same as any standard US shower pipe ( 1/2 inch ). I had no trouble installing and using two different heads with hoses in the last two years I've had it.

A: The diverter has a !/2" pipe inlet and two (2) 1/2" outlets. The holder on the side has a cone shape that tapers top to bottom for 18mm to 16mm. The slot on the side is 11mm. Large enough for most standard hoses.

A: The hose is centered so it will hang in front of the handle if the hose is long enough. most aren't that long but I know there are exceptions. At the standard installation heights, there is no obstruction.

Useless

The 3-way diverter only lets water through in 2 of the 3 positions. Therefore, it is useless since the whole point of it was to have the option of the handheld shower only.

I ordered the Delta 3-Way Shower Arm Diverter over the phone. HD employees were professional, and kind. HD tracking is one of the best. Product arrived intact, and with directions. This is a nice all metal product. The directions are easy to follow. I had some leaking initially. One area needed additional hand tightening. The other area I covered with a cloth and used pliers to tighten.I did use plumbers tape too. The forward position is for the main shower head. The middle position is for both shower heads. Pulled back is for our slide arm shower head. The water flow does decrease in each shower head when both are on, but with both on the pressure is still great. We are very happy with this product. It has enhanced our showering experience.

This diverter valve has all the features I needed. It runs two separate heads with the choice of operating one the other or both. It has the holder of a hand held unit and a lever control switch which works easily and accurately. it has a nice finish ans installed very easily.

Rubber Gasket Issues

As John G stated, a year ago, the rubber gasket breaks and leaks. My gasket looks just like John G's does in his pictures. I also, have one more issue. I need to replace the hose for the handheld shower and when I go to remove the hose, on the end that connects to the diverter, instead of the hose disconnection from the diverter, the piece in the images twists off of the diverter assembly. I tried to hold it to remove the hose and the sharp edges cut my hand. Where can I find a hex key that fits the part in the picture?

High-quality valve, but inferior attachment gasket

We recently purchased this Delta U4920-PK shower diverter valve after the valve we had purchased a few years ago from a big-box store finally broke. I was very impressed with the apparent quality of this metal valve, compared to the all-plastic one we are replacing. Also, the simple ease of pushing or pulling the large lever to switch the water flow, instead of turning a hard-to-twist knob, is a great design. However, there is a major flaw which prevented us from ever using this new valve. As other reviewers have reported here and on other websites, the valve leaks at the attach point! Prior to purchase I had assumed from those reviews that these folks simply did not tighten the attach nut enough. But that’s not the problem! In fact, the problem is, when you tighten it enough that it won’t twist on the inlet pipe, the rubber gasket gets pushed up into the inlet pipe, making the entire assembly loose and not watertight. Once that happens the rubber gasket is cut and deformed, and there is no longer any way to tighten it. This gasket should be made of a much firmer material so it can be tightened without deforming. The plastic valve from the big-box store didn’t have this problem, so I’m sure there is a way to fix this. It’s a shame that, in our experience, a simple inexpensive part like this rubber gasket makes this fine valve unusable. I would give this product 5 stars if it were not for this gasket issue. The accompanying photos illustrate the problem.

Poor Quality-Too much plastic

Have had the combination hand held/rain shower head installed for about 2 years. Suddenly I get a huge leak that squirts all over the shower wall coming out of this diverter valve via crack in the plastic chrome plated housing at the base of the hand held shower hose connections. This item was purchased at COSTCO and I no longer have the receipt to try and get it replaced. This replacement diverter valve is more expensive than I paid for the complete assembly

This is an excellent diverter!

I added this diverter to my Delta 3-Spray 2.0 gpm Shower-Mount Handshower in Chrome, Model # 54471-20-BG, Internet # 203124825. So glad I did. This is the best quality diverter that I've ever used. I'm very happy with this product and highly recommend it for all showers.
