AnswersSeems to me you could use this anywhere that a grab bar is needed for stability. Actually, mounting it near a dog gate is a great idea. Just be sure you mount it so that it engages studs or use anchors that strengthen the mounting reliability.
Is the overall length 9 inches? Or is the bar length 9 inches?

AnswersI think that Delta is in the best position to answer that, how it will respond to constant water exposure. Physically, I would say "yes", it could be done, I would have a tile installer do it, but again, I am not sure how it would respond to that regular water exposure. Call Delta.

I just received two Delta bathroom grab bars. Having several Delta products I tend to stay with them due their quality, style and durability. Since I received two of their products I am going to review both at the same time.
The first is the Delta 9 in. x 7/8 in. Residential Assist Bar in Venetian Bronze. This is so pretty and matches my newly installed sliding glass door shower/tub door. Also matches my bathroom caddy next to it. Very easy to install. I actually used 6 plastic expandable wall anchors and the mount is solid. Being on a med which alters my balance is reason I opted for two different grab bars.
Other grab bar is the Delta Transitional Corner Shelf with 8-3/4 in. Assist Bar in Matte Black, Flat Black. This is going to be mounted at the opposite end of the tub/shower. Sometimes I take a tub bath and this will be placed at the spigot end of the fixture. A seriously heavy duty strong, sturdy shelf with grab bar. I will need to shorten a window curtain and trim some corner molding out but it will fit perfectly.
Should you be in the market for any type bathroom additions or upgrades I strongly recommend Delta. Extremely satisfied as always.

DELTA RESIDENTIAL ASSIST BAR was installed to help with my guest that requires assistance when visiting my home. I installed it inside my downstairs bathroom near the toliet. Residential Assist bar Venetian bronze color is stylish. It blend in well with my bathroom accessories. It is light weight but sturdy. The assist bar was easy to install and durable.

I consider myself to be a non-professional handyman, I am confident in doing most home repairs and installs, except any plumbing that requires soldering (better to know ones shortcomings).
I received this assist/grab bar in a matter of a couple of days. It was well packaged and arrived in great shape. This is well made, sturdy and is a simple install. In my opinion it is also stylish. The finish is very nice and without blemish. Time will tell about the finishes durability but I see nothing to give me doubt.
My overall summary is that if you are reading this review you are shopping for an assist or grab bar in this Venetian Bronze finish this will be a good choice. Without hesitation I say it fitted all my needs and requirements.

Having previously used another Delta 9 in. x 7/8 assist bar, we were fairly confident that the brushed nickel assist bar was everything the other Delta assist bars are. We installed this in a finished area of a barn, where the shower gets a lot of use from workers and guests.
To make sure that this bar could withstand the 300-pound weight rating, we pulled back the tin and marked the area where the assist bar would directly screw onto the center of a stud. The screws were quite long so pre-drilling is a must. Installation was a breeze to complete.
The stainless-steel bar works perfectly in this wet environment, and installed properly, it’s a great safety device to help prevent slips or falls when exiting the shower stall.

Safety- while getting in and out of showers or holding yourself steady on a wet floor is a concern for the young or the old, especially the older.
We installed (in progress, due to cracked tile), this assist bar in a walk-in shower. We found that this location will provide us the most useful location for safety. The Delta 9-inch by 7/8-inch assist bar should be able to provide a safety catch for turning and assisting balance while in the shower.
I also like it that it is stainless-steel so that it is rust resistant.
All-in-all, it's another great product from Delta

This assist bar is awesome! It is very strong, well-made, has a great brushed nickel finish, and it is just awesome to have in the bathroom. I think of it as a safety device, also a support to avoid falls. I think that it is a very small price to pay for safety. I added it to my main bathroom first as it gets the most use, but plan to add it to other bathrooms as well. Again, it is a small price to pay for safety. It is one of those things that is wonderful to have there when you need it. When you or someone else needs it, it is a lifesaver. It is not only a safety device to prevent falls, but it aids individuals that might have difficulty getting up, which is just ultra embarrassing. There is also no need for it, NOT with one of these!!! Great choice, no regrets. It is manufactured by Delta, shows Delta quality. The brushed nickel finish looks just great, rich looking texture. Again, GREAT CHOICE!!! ...a small price to pay for safety and support! I give this item 5 stars!!! It is worth every penny, money well-spent!!!

The assist bar has a brushed nickel finish which stays clean. This is a high end product that should last for years. All metal construction makes the assist bar very sturdy. It is rated for up to 300 pounds. I am still amazed how sturdy the bar is after mounting it. The size is ideal. Not too big yet large enough to make it easy to assist you with getting out of the tub.

This is a really nice assist bar. I picked this bar to put by my back door that has a step up to get in the door. We have elderly grandparents that need the extra boost. The finish on the bar is excellent and I have no doubt it will last a long time since it is on the north side of the house and not directly exposed to sun and weather. A few items to note - the overall length out of the box is 10 ¹/²" with the bar at 9 ¹/⁴ ", but it can be adjusted with two set screws inside the brackets. The bar does come with mounting screws, but you'll need anchors if you're going into anything besides wood. I'm mounting in stucco so I need special hardware to finish installing.

next to the shower. Assist Bars help with balance, support and that extra hand. **Read ALL the directions before starting installation. The package comes with long screws to attach INTO wall studs. There are (3) holes on each end and (2) of the screws (on each end) must be secured into the wall stud. If you can Not locate the wall stud or the wall studs are metal, the instructions refer to step 4a. This requires and is strongly recommended that you purchase Delta Hollow Wall Anchor (sold separately), DF548, or something similar. Do not use plastic anchors. It can be installed in the bathtub or shower, following directions using caulk. The bar will support 300 lbs, exceeds ADA requirements. Great functional purchase.
