What size duct does this need?

Asked by: Jill
It needs 4inch duct.

Does it turn on automatically? So no need to connect to a switch? How does it turn on if someone is just using the toilet and not taking a shower?

How do I turn it on if just using the toilet and not the shower? Thanks
Asked by: Jojo
There's two modes with an LED that tells you which mode it is currently in. If the switch is ON and the LED is blue, then fan will go on/off automatically when humidity is above 60%. If you want to just run the fan regardless of the humidity, you turn switch OFF, then ON - the LED turns amber and the fan runs like a normal fan until you turn the switch OFF. Turn ON and it'll be blue (toggles between the two modes). It's very simple.

Can this product be installed directly over a shower?

Asked by: N
Not recommended since water can splash into the air intake and spoil the motor or electricals inside.

Signature Series 130 CFM Humidity Sensing Ceiling Bathroom Exhaust Fan is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 144.

Turn it on once and it goes into automatic mode (which means it turns on when the humidity goes high and off once cleared), turn it off and then back on a gain and it turns on continuously. Pretty clever mode switching using the standard on/off switch at the wall.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a bad fan, but nowhere near "virtually silent." You... Not a bad fan, but nowhere near "virtually silent." You can hear it running if you are in the next room, with the door closed. It is slightly more quiet than the builder istalled one we were replacing, but not worth the price for what we thought was going to be a virtually silent fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This very quiet until it senses the moisture and then... This very quiet until it senses the moisture and then kicks up the fan speed and it gets louder, but that’s ok to me. I know it’s doing it’s job. It is also still quieter than our older fans in other bathrooms. We installed this in a bathroom where there was no existing fan.

I just had this installed today by a licensed electrician (because I needed some wiring done for it). The fan has both a whistling noise and a metallic rattling noise, so I am not happy with it. The fan itself is fairly quiet, but the whistling and rattling are annoying and shouldn't be there on day one. Adjusting the fan speed does not make a difference in the noise level. It is just as loud on 40 cfm as on full speed (110 cfm).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quiet? Not sure this unit is as quiet as it claims. I have a straight shot to the outside with the correct pipe size. A store display of different fan options at varying scones was more impressive than what I ended up with. It's not bad, but not as quiet as expected. The green LED light is not necessary to prove it is on. I can hear it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Blue for humidity sensing and orange for on works far... Blue for humidity sensing and orange for on works far better than our contractor builder grade broan 4sone unit. Thought 0.3 sones would be even quieter but still better than a normal oscillating fan. Installation involved climbing in attic, 2 persons is a must, and a sawzall to expand our current.

It’s pretty quiet, and I really like the fact that it turns on by itself if the humidity gets greater than 60%. No more for getting to turn on the fan when showering :) . Plus the blue tiny light lights the bathroom just enough at night.
