Can this be installed without going into the attic?

most of the folks here have a two man crew. One on the latter and one in the attic. I hope this helps.

Can this be installed with a switch to turn the fan on and off, and if so will this affect the automatic humidity sensor?

Asked by Arlos August 25, 2020

Yes. Flip switch on once and the sensor will determine whether or not to activate the fan. (Blue indicator light shows) Flip off/back on again and it will turn the fan to on mode (yellow indicator light)...this disables the sensor function. Flip off/on again and the sensor is re-activated. So you can toggle between using the sensor or just turning the fan on by flipping the wall switch. Obviously switch in the off position would just keep the fan off without regard to the sensor.

Can this be mounted on a wall

Answer

I used this for ceiling mount. I don't see anything mentioned for it about wall mount option. I suspect it's too thick to be mounted in the wall. Same brand has slim versions that specifically mention wall/ceiling installation.

How do I insall this with attic access?

Asked by Tip May 21, 2020

Answer

Mine definitely went in from below. The hole IS smaller than the flange. The flange is then flush with the sheetrock ceiling . Mine was essentially option 1, where you connect with screws through the sheetrock to the 2 x 2 placed above it. Mine was then reinforced from above by using the rafter connections. Afterwards, you need to connect the wiring to the small electrical box provided with the fan, attached to the housing. I found the automatic humidity sensor annoying, so we control the fan from a wall switch. Switch can be left on to activate the humidity sensor.

What are the benifits installing 1 switch, or 2 switches. Who installed the two switches, and what do they do vs one switch.

One wall switch turns it on or off. If you turn it on once, it is in the humidity mode. If you quickly turn it off then on again, the fan goes into the high speed mode regardless of humidity. No reason I can see for 2 switches.

Can this fan work with a timer? How would it affect the Humidity mode?

It can work with a timer. It will automatically come on in the humidity mode, and during the timer on period, will run or not run as the humidity sensor tells it to.

Humdity mode varies from zero (motor off) to about 70% speed, depending on humidity and is quieter than at full speed. If you want speed, then turn switch off/on and put the motor into maximum speed independent of humidity. The lower speed is to make it quieter

Great product at a very reasonable price. It can be set to turn on with the switch. or come on automatically when the humidity rises in the bathroom. We leave it on so that it will come on automatically, and then turn off when the humidity in the room drops to the appropriate level. You don't have to worry about leaving the fan on and forgetting it, it goes off automatically. The fan is so quiet that you can hardly hear it running. I can't imagine a quieter fan on the market. My builder was amazed at this fan, he said he had never seen a more quiet or better built fan.

Works really well!
Love the ability to always have it “on” waiting for moisture. It’s also light years quieter than our old bathroom fan from the 70’s.

Love this bathroom exhaust fan. It has completely reduced the humidity in our bathroom. No more fogged mirror. And we love how it automatically senses the amount of humidity and cuts itself on. The pictures shows my mirror after just getting out of shower.

We had Delta Breez fans installed in our bathrooms and laundry about two years ago, I think that they were 70 CFM and they worked well. We had a lightning strike that blew out the two in our master bathroom and replaced them with this 130 CFM and LOVE them. On high they are not as quiet but really move the air. Going to replace the other two with this model when I get around to it. FYI - the noise is not annoying and when it is really hot here in Houston Texas I run the fans on high and have not trouble sleeping.

Sooooooooo quiet. Replaced a 10 yr old fan with this one, really pleased with the upgrade. Install was a bit tricky because of roof line but not too difficult. Leaving it on humidity setting, the phase indicator light doubles as a nightlight. Very happy with this choice.

Nice quiet fan
We purchased this fan for our recently remodeled master bathroom. I was a little skeptical at first about a fan that would come on by itself, but I have to admit.. It works perfectly! It is nice and quiet, and works just as advertised. Glad we purchased it!

Great humidity sensing exhaust fan
This has been installed for a few weeks now and it has been working perfectly. The exhaust on this unit is larger than my old one (which was probably from the 70s when the house was built), so I had to get a larger exhaust hose, but other than that there were no installation issues. The fan's auto detect mode works great and has a blue light that glows to let you know it's in auto mode, or you can switch it to manual mode (to keep the fan on) and the light will glow orange. You can also just leave the fan off. The fan is also really quiet - I couldn't even tell it was on until I was in the bathroom, and even then it's just a soft whirring.

love the humidistat feature, easy install
Installed for two weeks now and love the way it is working! Low noise and the humidistat feature works like a charm! The quality of the housing is so much better than others I've looked at. Shipping was fast and the online purchase was easy, very satisfied!

Excelent fan, easy instalaton,great value
I was pleasantly surprised when I unpacked this Delta exhaust fan. I found its compact design and the adapter plate for connection with the exhaust piping, just what I needed to facilitate a difficult upgrade installation. It was possible to install the fan in a very tight space utilizing the flange manufactured on the box for a flush instalation. The unit is very quiet and its humidity sensor is a plus in that it can be left on to completely evacuate moist air. I have not owned this fan long enough to comment on durability but based on the construction I think that this unit will give many years of trouble free operation.

Quiet and great features!
This fan was easy to install. Very quiet and easy to toggle from regular fan to humidity fan. In the humidity mode the fan will turn off by itself when all the moisture is out. Also, there are two different lights to determine which mode you are in.
