Questions & Answers

Spray configuration button - does it hold your choice or return it to default?

The water spray configuration is changeable by a button, but will it hold either configuration, or does it default to normal every time you turn off the water? I would like to find one that holds the spray configuration instead of having to push the button every time you turn it back on. I just want it to stay there unless I change it to the "regular" flow.

The spray/stream control operates like a toggle switch on a wall.

I have purchased the Delta Charmaine faucet 19962Z-SSD-DST

Can the handle be mounted in the center position or only on the right as the picture on the box and instructions show?
Asked by: Val
Yes you can orient the handle which ever way is most convenient - I tried it in the middle & did not like it, so I put it on the right. I am not pleased with the means of securing the faucet under the sink. Since installation I have had to re-tighten the collar which holds it on the sink underneath 4-5 times. I tried putting locktite on it & also silicone on threads but it still works loose over time. Maybe it's because it is mounted on a cast iron porcelain sink - but I think a design change would be in order for this.

Does this come with spray shield technology?

Asked by: Matthew
YES. As of 7/1/18 It does have the 3 spray feature. But Home Depot had both versions in stock for the same price. Make sure you get the model 19962Z and NOT 19962SD. Since both were on the shelves for the exact same price when I purchased this one.

Easy to install and highly recommend reading the instructions. The pressure shield spray is not some hocus pocus or gimmick. I use the shield spray daily and it gets everything off dishes with no need to soak them prior to washing. Not even sure why I didn't get this faucet sooner! Now after owning this faucet for over a month I don't think I could use any other kitchen faucet. The finish has not discolored or faded at all and it worked perfectly with my marble counter top without the need of any modifications or shimming the faucet. To be honest I was very skeptical about this new technology and it surprised me to say the least. Additional if you have low water pressure in your house this will not improve that problem. Fortunately we have very good water pressure and this faucet has been a dream to use.

Water flow is good and strong (stronger than my former faucet). Installation was easy to follow (though it's never "easy" to crawl under your sink and uninstall an old and then install a new faucet). It is a two-person job - you need one person under the sink and another above, but you can do it if I can do it! It took longer to remove my old faucet than it did to install this new one. Two caveats: 1) The spray setting is not one round spray. In this faucet it is in two smaller, side-by-side sprays. If you look at it just right from one side (as they do in the video) it looks like one round spray pattern. That was a surprise to us and it made me deduct one star. However this looks like it's going to last us for a while. 2) The feed lines are hard plastic and were too long. The instructions say you can loop the lines but I was not able to loop them like in the picture. I fear there is too much stress on the connections. There are no leaks now but I will watch this over time. More flexible feed lines would be preferred.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timeless appearance. The Delta Charmaine in stainless is the timeless classic look. This faucet comes with a matching soap dispenser. Highlights: Super easy installation, with easy to follow instructions. As with any faucet, getting the old one out probably will be the worst of the project. This faucet is guaranteed for life! It's one piece construction eliminates joints and seals. With the diamond coated valve, it's built to 10x the industry standard. The supply lines and fittings burst tested to 1000 PSI, more than 10x the average water pressure. It comes with 32" color coded supply lines. This faucet fits 1,2,3, or 4 hole installation and comes with an escutcheon deck plate. It has 2 settings, one for stream and the other for spray. I really like the deck plate bolts through for mounting this faucet ONTO a stainless sink. This strengthens the surrounding sink so it does not flex. On some manufacturers, you must cut a piece of plywood to bolt under the sink for strength. Delta has engineered this feature with the customer in mind. Negatives: NONE

We didn't want to replace the faucet but the old one is about 20 years old and developed a leak that I couldn't fix anymore. We plan to redo this area soon anyway so might as well get a good faucet now, and it has not disappointed - people love the look of it, it's a fresh look without looking overly modern in a dated area. The three spray options are great, I actually like the shield-spray, less spray splatter all over the counters. Installation was quite simple and took maybe a half hour. It was more difficult removing the old one than installing the new one. Once installed it just has a solid feel to it, and the high neck height is great for filling large pots, as well as washing them once you're done cooking. Flow rate is also pretty good, I don't feel the need to replace the restrictor with a less restrictive piece like Iv'e done with other faucets in the house. All in all very happy and expect years of use from this faucet.

Had a similar faucet by Moen that started leaking into my cabinet after about 5 yrs. Plumber told me not worth trying to fix and to buy a Delta. So I did. Don't really like the valve mechanism but what are you going to do. The hoses look even cheaper than the Moen hoses and thats where it was leaking. Hope it lasts 5 years. Water utility had been flushing lines and by coincidence thats when the Moen started leaking. Within 24 hrs of installing this faucet, water pressure out of it dropped 90%. Called water utility and they said this faucet and any new I guess should have a filter or strainer. Pulled out the O&M manual and this faucet has a quick connect type plastic fitting in the spout that you push in a little tab and unscrew from hose. Be sure and hold on to the hose or it will retract into the goose neck then you got problems. Sure enough there is a micro fine strainer in the spout that was full of black gunk. Flushed it out and faucet back to full pressure. I remember when all faucet parts were bronze or brass. I guess those days are long gone. I've got 30 year old delta faucets with metal parts that are still going strong. No way this one will last 30 yrs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as expected. But the weight that pulls the hose... Works as expected. But the weight that pulls the hose up just encircles the hose and does not clamp like other models I have used meaning you have to return hose by hand to the base leaving a dangler if you have kids that might use it

Also, this product replaced a basic pull-out, my husband installed it (he's not a pro), and we've had it installed for less than 24 hours. Second, I scoured the web for info (different stores, review/comparison sites, and YouTube) and went to stores. I looked at descriptions, pics, ratings/reviews, spec pdfs, videos (from manufacturers and users), in-store set ups, etc. Third: -It has 3 modes of water output: aerated stream (regular running water), a divided spray (like most regular sprays except that it does not make a full circle--it is more like parentheses), and a Shield Spray. -It comes with an optional deck plate that fits a 3-hole opening. (If used, I think you must have 3 holes because of the way it is formed. I'm not sure if the 3-hole form is removable from the deck plate or not. Also, I believe it can be mounted without the deck plate for one hole installation.) -It comes with a matching soap dispenser which we opted not to use. -It comes with VERY long 3/8" compression hoses for the hot & cold water. -The pull-down hose is a braided, non-metal material. It has a floating weight that does not lock onto the hose. (So, it won't get tangled or caught on anything, but if the hoses aren't looped/lie on your cabinet base, the weight may not be effective.) After install, our hose pulled out almost 24", and I had to feed it back into the arch at first. -All necessary parts were included. (It comes with 2 foam gaskets--1 goes on the deck plate and the other on the base of the faucet. Thus, some say you don't need to caulk. We, however, plan to do so.) -It has magnetic docking that feels strong to me. When I get the head close enough, I can feel it pull and snap it into place. It fits flush on the neck without catching at the bottom and leaving any gapping at the top. It docks when the buttons are directly down or directly on top of the head. I can undock by either twisting it sideways or leveraging one side to break the other side loose. I don't know which is less wear on the hose. -At almost 9 cm long, the head is long enough to fit in my hand without getting my hand in the water. (I don't like getting splashed.) -The head can dock with buttons down or up on top. There is a button and a switch. The bottom switch toggles stream/spray. It stays on once pressed. If you turn the water off while spraying, it will turn on spraying unless/until switched off. The toggle switch does not click into place and can be stopped in the middle (at which point it sprays). If Shield Spray is engaged while spraying, once disengaged, the water returns to stream. The top button turns on Shield Spray. Shield Spray has a narrow, high-pressure spray surrounded by a water shield to protect you from being sprayed. Shield Spray only engages when the button is actively pushed. Shield Spray only engages as shown in the pics/videos at a fuller pressure; otherwise, it makes a loose, little swirl. Shield Spray hits full diameter at about 5 cm down from the spout, so the head must be close to its target. Its diameter is about 7 cm wide. It converges again at about 16 cm from the spout. When engaged without a target in this 16 cm shield, there is light splatter. -The head has Touch-Clean Spray Holes. They are not flexible. -The spray holes roughly resemble this: (8). The main stream comes out of the circle closest to the buttons, Shield Spray comes out farthest from the buttons, and the regular spray comes out of the parentheses. This is why some pictures/videos online may show the spray with a gap or the stream coming from off-center. -The handle can be mounted on the right side or in front. I would not recommend mounting it on the left because of its range of motion. If you look directly at the handle from the side (with the base behind it), it moves from 12:00 (cold) to 9:00 (hot) (forward to a view with handle on the right). To turn it on, pull the faucet out, away from the base. This means you can roughly retain the temperature you last used. It also means you can mount it closer to a backsplash or wall--but only when it's mounted on the right or in front. (If you mount it on the left, you have to adjust the temperature to the back of the faucet.) Because of its motion, you don't need a "sweet spot" to get the water to turn off and avoid drips. (I'm referring to faucets that have "off" in between the hot and cold. Hitting the center is difficult.) This was the major selling point for me. H and C are marked in light grey. If you need a blue/red indicator for a child or disability, sorry. Also, I like that I can flip it on/off with my elbow or the back of my hand. -The neck of the faucet (containing the arch but NOT the roughly 6.5" base) swings quite smoothly around 360 degrees. The base is fixed (which I like as my last faucet got so crusty with hard water that it no longer rotated). And, when the water is on, it doesn't drift. -The height of my installed faucet is almost 15" above/beyond the roughly 1 cm tall deck plate. The spout was a bit over 8.5 inches from the top of the sink at the divider between sides. From the middle of the neck to the middle of the head, the arch measured roughly 9.5" out. Finally, I think this was the best faucet for us. The pros for me are: It is aesthetically pleasing. I can turn it on/off with my elbow. The neck rotates 360 degrees, but it won't move on it's own. I can fill pots/buckets in the sink/on the floor. The spray/stream toggle is one touch. I shouldn't get blasted with Shield Spray. It has temperature memory. I don't have to find a "sweet spot" to turn it off. The cons for me are: Using Shield Spray and the handle will take some getting used to after using a pull out. The foam, deck-plate gasket was slightly damaged/malformed out of the box, and there's a tiny (less than 1 mm) gap on the sides between the sink and the deck plate, so I'm only 99% sure it'll seal properly and therefore plan to caulk.

I said yes I would recommend this overall, but just to let others know, this is NOT a full round spray nossel. The video above is standard for all their products. Had I known this, I would not have bought it. I went to HD to purchase a different Delta faucet which they showed they had 3 of. No they did not, nor were their any sales people about. Time will tell whether or not I will like it. I changed faucets precisely for the spray option. I like the overall look of this. The stream is nice, as is the other option for fragile dishes, but I do not like the spray which is basically 7 holes on each side that spray water. Had we not already installed this, I would be returning. Even the box shows a 360 spray. Very deceptive Delta. I spoke to Delta this morning, and they don’t make interchangeable heads, so can’t buy a new spray head. Be sure and check out sprayer head before buying.
