Questions & Answers

Is there a specific drain I need with this tub?

Asked by: htown
I puchased the easy touch style pvc drain kit for the 12-15 inch length, and a short section of 1 1/2” pvc to replace the one in the kit. Cut to appropriate length and voila. This works if you can’t find a kit for higher than 18” tub.

What is the maximum width where the tub bows out? How much the tub will intrude into the room 30” is not the max width just the width at ends.

Asked by: Marco
It is 33 inches from the back of the tub at the widest part. I just measured the maximum width, we have not installed our tub yet.

What overflow bath drain is recommended for this tub?

The delta website does not sell a specific overflow drain for this tub. I read reviews about people having issues with standard size overflow drain when installing the Classic 400 Delta. Please provide a specific overflow that should be used for this tub.
Asked by: James
December 11, 2016 This is from the manufactures documentation for the Delta Classic 400 Curve. NOTE: Drain/overflow assembly should be sized for 16 1/2” (41.91 cm) deep bathtub. The standard drain kits that Home Depot sells are 12" to 15". These will not fit. The people that work at Home Depot do not know this, as they sold me the 12" to 15".

Would this tub look alright in a 5x7.2 ft bathroom? Or would it look too large for the space?

Would this tub look alright in a 5x7.2 ft bathroom? Or would it look too large for the space?
Asked by: Jonie
It will definitely be the “focal point” of your bathroom. We installed ours in a 5 x 8 space. The tub is what is visible from the hallway. Toilet is behind the door, which just clears the tub, and we have a wall-mounted sink opposite the toilet. This is our 3rd bath, and not a daily user, so works very well for us when we have need for a tub for guests. Having said that, I would get a straight-sided tub if we were to do it again, just to get that little extra space where this curved one sticks out into the room. We do love the look of it though! Good luck!

Classic 400 Curve 60 in. Left Drain Rectangular Alcove Bathtub in White is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 174.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deep spacious tub I went back-and-forth as to whether to replace my tub in my second bathroom the initial tub was a fiberglass all-in-one unit from the original builders. I am so glad that I did replace it and this curved design just gave it a little more space without taking up more room in a relatively small bathroom. I didn't do the surrounds or the glass curve doors it just wasn't necessary for my remodel. But it is very deep lots of elbow room and it turned out beautiful with tile my contractor did. The only thing I would highly recommend is get the more expensive drain mechanism and because the tile does not leave very much edge on the wall side I highly recommend putting in a grab bar to get out because the tub is so deep. Great tub if you have small kids to bathe in lots of room for you and them. And considering I remodeled both bathrooms and took out my leaking Jacuzzi tub in my master I feel like I have a more than adequate tub and I won't lose resale value.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Drain location in included manual is incorrect The Installation Guide here on the Home Depot site says the drain is 13 7/16" from the rear wall, but that guide appears to be for a different model number (77988), so I didn't trust it. I then noticed that the Installation Guide for the Classic 400 (non-curve), which I was considering purchasing instead of this model, also included this model (40114L), and the dimension listed there is 14 1/2". Since my drain is at 14 1/2", I believed this tub would fit correctly and ordered it. Upon receipt I verified that the manual included in the box said it was 14 1/2". I did a test fitting today and it wasn't even close. Measuring the tub revealed that the actual dimension is 13 7/16". Looking at Delta's site, they have apparently corrected this error in the Rev B version of the manual, but it is the incorrect Rev A that was in my box and on Home Depot's site. Had I known it was 13 7/16" I would not have purchased this tub, and now I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great SOAKING tub - Looks great!!! I got this tub to used specifically as a soaker tub. It is a standalone unit. I am not using it in conjunction with a shower. Some of the things that are more important since it is going to used as a soaking tub... The tub is comfortable. It has higher than average sides. The bottom seems to have an anti-slip texture. Includes a ledge along the inside sides to rest your arms. It has a nice overall size. If you want a tub that is going to used as a tub, not just a water catcher for your shower, then this is the tub! I'm sure it would work great in combination with a shower also, but it excels as a soaker!! On another note. Installation was pretty straight forward. If anything, I would say it is a little easier to install than some other tubs. According to the installation instructions, no mortar bed is required. So I didn't use a mortar bed underneath and I am very pleased with the sturdiness feeling of the tub.

We had our first tub installed in June 2017 and discovered a large crack in the back left corner after only using it a few times. The contractor said he didn't want to nail the unit to the studs as instructed because he felt that would crack the fiberglass (acrylic), so instead he screwed the tub into the supports at the four corners). So we ordered a new replacement tub, but after thinking about it, we decided to install a large walk-in shower instead, and returned the second tub before taking it out of the box. We wrote to Delta about the crack (which is growing now sideways across the back ledge), and Delta is denying our claim of a defective tub. What does it matter if it's attached at each stud or if it's SCREWED into the corner supports. The whole tub is very flexible, anyway. We now have a tub to remove. At least three rows of white subway tile to remove, and the Delta Curve glass doors will be coming out and are for sale. It was a beautiful idea, but it just didn't work out right for us.

The tub is fine however we had the most ridiculous time installing because the tub height is 19 inches and no one sells kits for a tub this height so what are we supposed to do? At this point we have to spend all of this money and we are going to end up with a cheap rubber drain plug because the store that sold this to us doesn't have the right drain kits. I actually ended up going back to the store while a contractor sat at my house on my dime to trying to find another option after the standard size kit we bought from the store would not work. Pretty tub but very stressful install with not the outcome it should have had.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy I have had nothing but trouble out of this set. It looks great installed but within 2 months the white water dam had come off the tub. Within 6 months the plastic pieces on the inside of the doors had falling off and now I've had it for 3 years and the tub is cracking in multiple places. It is suppose to have a 10 year warranty but that is a joke. The first thing they do is ask what type I'd cleaner you use and that automatically voids the warranty. I've set here and called their warranty department 10 times with 10 different cleaners that i could look up and everyone voids the warranty.
