Decor Assist Contemporary Corner Shelf with 8-3/4 in. Assist Bar in Chrome

I installed this corner shelf / assist bar In my guest bath. This shower is tiled all the way to the ceiling with no corner shelf or alcove for shampoo or other toiletries, so I felt like this item would be a great addition and serve a dual purpose. It is sturdy and attractive and with the plastic shelf installed it holds a few items for your bath. I rated this item a “4” only because it was difficult to install; drilling through the tile was tough and since there was no framing right behind the mounting holes they suggested a yet larger hole to use their alternative mounting method. I opted to mount this item with 50 lb drywall anchors instead. It is still very sturdy using this method.

This is a good shelf that also provides for a grab bar. Installation was pretty straight forward, drill four holes (sized either for the lag screw or anchor), insert the anchors (where studs aren't available), install the shelf bracket using the screws, and click on the shelf. I was a bit disappointed in the shelf. While the grab bars and mounting software are very good quality, the shelf itself is made of what feels to be rather cheap plastic. I am concerned that over time it will discolor and be difficult to keep clean. There are four attachment points in the shelf bracket, I suppose it would be possible to use a different material as long as it was strong enough. A thick tile might work if it could be cut with a curve and have the edges finished. It's also a bit small (see photos). A couple of bottles will be all it can hold. It's good enough for me, but I don't think the one I installed in my wife's shower will suit her needs.

The Delta Decor Assist Contemporary Corner Shelf with 8-3/4 in. Assist Bar in Stainless is a great look either inside a shower or outside to hold whatever you want while the rail around the shelf avails itself to the use of someone who may need to use the bar to assist them from getting from a sitting to standing position or for something sturdy to balance one's self. Things like these are just so nice to have when someone in your house is struggling with the simple functions of walking, standing and by having safety bars around and especially ones like this that don't look like that is their purpose! Now just like about everything it would be great if you had this to block in while constructing so that you can easily match up studs behind the holes built into the frame, but don't worry they give you lags and four of the best sheetrock clips you'll ever find. This will guarantee a hold of 300 lbs even if no stud is found. I'm lucky in the house where it's so old that it has tongue and groove 1" subwall. Depending on your walls makeup it will take time especially if it's going over tile. Don't think this is any lightweight cheap shelf that can be glued and caulked into place and forger drilling ceramic. Now, unless you have an old house like mine or have blocked for it, expect to divert some time for this project to do it correctly. Now the tray on top is plastic and not ceramic. I'm sure this is for convenience of cleaning and not falling and shattering. I'm also assuming this is something Delta can replace inexpensively if it does crack. I got mine in the brushed stainless, but it looks like chrome, I don't see the stainless!. These are the small things you simply need to add with aging and the changing of the family makeup. This new Delta Contemporary Corner Shelf will be used to help get up from the bath chair and I needed a place for the smart speaker.

The Delta Contemporary Corner Shelf is a great asset to an older bathroom that was built without a niche since it will hold 4 bottles of body wash, shampoo, etc., easily at a convenient height. However, I spent another $40. on a 1/4” ceramic tile bit for the pilot holes and a 1” carbide hole saw that was needed for two of the holes without studs behind. The back braces would not fit within the 4” wall and so 1” had to be hacksawed off the ends(see attached pictures). These braces have double sided tape that is supposed to adhere to the inside of the wall but they did not stick to cement backer board and it took 2 people, 4 hands, to maneuver the pieces and screw the braces and bar in place. The directions call for a 7/32 pilot hole to be drilled into studs but that would be far too small. I think they meant a 9/32 which I used. It looks great but I will caulk the edges of the 1” holes since you can see openings beyond the bar. If a 7/8” hole saw exists, it would be a better choice.

The perfect inconspicuous support bar that makes you think it's a corner shelves and in fact it is also a corner shelf for your shampoos and shower gels. It's the perfect combination. I installed mine up high, just above the tiled end and it's rather helpful to get in and out of the tub/shower . The finish on it is beautiful and ads a touch of class to the showering experience. Sturdy it is; definitely solid. I just love it.

This Delta corner shelf is a very study shelf that once installed isn't going anywhere.It has a safety assist bar to prevent falls and looks great.To install you need a 1 inch bit to install the weight retention brackets behind the wall.The directions are easy to follow and is good at following the process you need for the task.The champagne bronze is sticking and gives a high end look to the bath.

Love the color - Champagne Bronze - as it blends in nicely with brass, chrome, or brushed nickel bath fixtures. Easy to mount; manufacturer claims 300 lb holding capacity with included fasteners that work for drywall, stud, tile and plastic/fiberglass showers or bath walls. Plastic shelf removes for easy cleaning. Smooth design optimizes grab bar feature.

The Decor Assist Contemporary Corner Shelf with 8-3/4 in. Assist Bar in Champagne Bronze is a great idea, 'appears' nice, and made of durable materials. It will serve as a consistent help lifting you/your weight when needed. HOWEVER, BE SURE you read the instructions. They are VERY clear how to use materials provided to hang (in shower or other wall areas), but because of the potential weight bearing - the anchors and parts provided that go INSIDE the wall are not small, requiring LARGE drill bits - making LARGE HOLES - in the surface area (in 4 separate places). This needs to be considered if you're simply looking for a corner shelf to hold small bathroom needs/nic-nacs OR if you're needing a weight-bearing help up from a shower seat, bathtub, or toilet. ALSO - check multiple times that you have the right side up when marking drill hole spots - because theres a large chance you could be holding it upside down. Depending on your space allotment, it may not matter if you mark the drill hole spots with it upside down at first - but if drill placement is an issue, you need to be certain it is facing the right way. If it is right side up, the anchor/screw holes are on the underside of the bar and the two 'shelves' on either side for the shelf are on the top.

This shelf and grab bar are very well made and durable, it comes with all the parts, bolts and hardware to install it in several different types of configurations, tile, wood studs and drywall installations. I am using it near a toilet as a shelf to hold bathroom items into sheet rock, also it will serve as a grab bar for getting up if needed. To install the grab bar and make it sturdy enough to put weight on it, I used the supplied brackets that go inside the wall thru a 1" drilled hole. The brackets are supposed to insert into the wall and the applied self stick tap is designed to hold the bracket inside the wall till the bolt goes into it, securing the shelf. The self stick tape needs to be stickier or bigger so that it holds the inside of the wall better to make it easier to secure the shelf bolts. That said once the first bracket was in place the other 3 were easier to install. It took about an hour to install this properly, a little longer than I originally thought. It is good looking, modern, and very sturdy.

The unit looks nice. I especially like the gold assist bar. However, after looking at my house I did not find a corner that this bar would fit or would be useful for my needs. The corners in the bathroom are too far away from the toilet and shower to be used for helping a person up. The instructions are detailed enough and state several times that if you are not sure about instillation, have a professional do this for safety. If you can’t find a stud in the corner, then you will have to remove a piece of drywall and place the wall anchors behind the wall for security. Then attach the wall unit to the anchors.
