In the Delta "Grant"(16953 SS-DST) pull-out faucet, one color choice is a "stainless steel finish". What does this mean?

Some manufacturers state that their faucets are "stainless steel". Others just refer to the finish as stainless steel. I don't understand the difference, if any.
Asked by: Jean
It means that it is NOT metal yet resembles stainless steel.

Grant Single-Handle Pull-Out Sprayer Kitchen Faucet In Chrome is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 761.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grant Stainless Finish Kitchen Faucet This faucet replaced a now discontinued Signature kitchen faucet which lasted about13 years. This Single hole installation faucet swivels much easier than the old faucet. We like the below the pull out spout toggle that allows one to switch from stream to spray. The older model was a push to change the stream to spray. The older model had a crummy hot/cold disc on the faucet, the new one is a stainless disc that blends in with the stainless finish. The stainless finish doesn’t get watermarks & wipes clean. The best part is the redesign of the hose attaching to the pull out spout. Instead of screwing in the plastic tip of the hose to the brass part, this plastic sort of twists into a locked plastic tip emerging from the spout. It looks like it won’t separate over time with the screw being stripped so to speak. The pull out spout is much lighter in heftiness from the older spout. The only thing I would change on this faucet is make the pull out spout longer and not as curved as this one is. My D shaped stainless steel sink would appreciate that. This faucet was purchased from Home Depot & my plumber had no problems installing it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed. I purchased this faucet in August 2018 and 4+ months after installation I'm already... Disappointed. I purchased this faucet in August 2018 and 4+ months after installation I'm already thinking of replacing it (can't return to HD at this point). These are my two biggest complaints: 1) it's very hard to get warm water from this faucet, you either get cold water or you burn your hands... getting the right temp it shouldn't be hard, but with this product it takes a few seconds to achieve because the sweet spot is very, very narrow. 2) Maybe I got a dud, but this faucet leaks. Similar to what I described above with adjusting the temperature, the place where water stops coming out is very narrow, so it takes 2-3 tries (or more!) to cut the water flow. Sometimes I see guests in our house fighting this thing to make it not drip any more or I have to come back to the sink because I hear it dripping from a different room. I think this is unacceptable. I gave it 2 stars because I have purchased and installed other Delta products that work fine, but really, do yourself a favor and buy something else.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Multiple cartridge failures I've owned this faucet for about two years and have had to replace the Diamond Seal cartridge six or seven times in that period due to the faucet not shutting off correctly or leaking when it is off. It's unclear to me whether this is the fault of the poorly-designed, problem-ridden Diamond Seal cartridge technology itself or some interaction between the faucet and the cartridge. I was a plumber for close to 20 years, and can testify that Delta's old-style ball cartridge was extremely reliable and could go ten years without replacement. But this Diamond Seal experience has made me swear off any Delta faucet with this style cartridge.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk This faucet is junk. The part that holds the sprayer in place on the base broke and came off, causing the sprayer to flop to either side in the base when you push on it from either side. The hose to the sprayer is too flimsy, causing it to crimp when you move the sprayer around. The hose to the sprayer leaks regardless of how much tape I use or how tight it is. These problems started appx. three or four months after I bought it. I contacted Delta about a refund and the email I received indicated to me that I was wasting my time so I didn't pursue the matter. I was polite and even praised the quality of some of their other faucets that I now use and have had in the past. I would have been willing to accept a credit and upgrade to a better Delta model. I have nothing bad to say about Delta. I think the company makes outstanding products. They simply dropped the ball on the engineering of this particular faucet.

When purchased this item, it was covered in a heavy duty shrink wrap plus banded with strong plastic straps. I did not open the faucet in the store-it was a Delta faucet and cost $132-so I had an expectation of high quality. When I unwrapped it at home and got ready to install, I was horrified by the thin, cheap plastic water lines, plastic sprayer and a plastic water line that "SNAPS!!??" together. I immediately repackaged this faucet and will return it the next time I go to Montrose. This thing looks like something out of a low end camper and I wouldn't trust it for a minute if I had installed it. No thanks.

It went in easily, but I noticed a leak shortly afterwards - water got in around the escutcheon and gasket (we are using a single hole install). I called Delta, and they shipped me a rubber gasket to replace the foam one that came with the faucet. I can't tell you if this is a solution though, because I couldn't wait for the new part and sealed it with a bit of silicon instead. I have always been happy with Delta faucets, but maybe this bit of the design needs tweaking.

I needed a little help from Gary because I had a space limitation on the height of the spout. I told him that I had cabinets right above the sink and that the spout could not be one of those real high ones. Gary was very helpful and kept with me until I found the right faucet that I needed. Installation of this faucet was the easiest one that I have ever put in. I believe it was because the long plastic input hoses which made it easy to connect to without crawling way under the sink and looking up. It was a dream believe me!! I also really liked the pull-out spray handle feature with the spray that can be changed from a spray to a stream in a flip of a button. The pull-out handle also retracts way better than the old sprayer that I used to have and I account this to the added weight that goes around the spray hose. This product was "Top Notch" with me and performed with expectations greater that I would ever have imagined!! A1 with me Delta!!!!

This was a replacement for the same design Delta faucet set that was five years old, also purchased at Home Depot. The washer between the top faucet and the pipes had corroded and the faucet became very loose but still worked. This faucet is only different in the older one was chrome finish and this is stainless finish. The faucet worked well until it became loose and this one works fine too.
