I bought this item When tightening the shower head on to the shower arm, by the time it was the tightest, the shower head still needed another third of a turn to be upright. If I left it at the previous upright position the shower head wouldnt be as tight, although I'll say it still can function properly. Kindly let me know why this is or if there was something wrong I did. Thanks
Asked by: Tasi
Due to the threads on my shower arm and the threads on the shower head, every time i tried to install, it came out a half turn short. After 8 times of trying and replacing teflon tape, I tried to loosen the nut on the head to turn it 180 degrees, but could not get it loose. I finally installed the shower head and wrench tightened the shower head the last half turn while holding onto the shower arm with a wrench to prevent it from breaking in the wall. So seems like a bad design of the shower head mixed with no way of adjusting things easily to accommodate.

Can I add a handheld shower head to this?

Asked by: Drew
The HydroRain 2-1 is intended to replace the shower head. We installed with a shower bar that had a diverter that we connected a hand held. That resulted in the shower head, rain can and hand held sprayer.

Customer Reviews

HydroRain 5-Spray 6 in. 2-in-1 Fixed Shower Head in Chrome is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 106.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big, Innovative & Functional (WARNING: Long but Comprehensive Review) Like others have said, it's big but virtually all rain can showerheads are. How else can you get that effect over being covered by a gentle rain? But before I go into other aspects of the showerhead here are some things to consider along with having enough head room to install this unit. You should first check your existing showerhead and connecting pipe to see how securely the pipe and fittings are attached inside the wall. If your connecting pipe wiggles more than a tad you should think twice about this unit unless you address that issue. A properly attached shower elbow fitting is mounted to a 2x4 brace between two studs and with non reactive screws such as brass or stainless steel--no drywall or cad plate screws! A number of times I have seen pipes that move freely and are held in place by the solder joints or bent over nails. If your showerhead is solidly attached then answer the question, do you have adequate flow and velocity pressure out of the existing showerhead. Even though newer showerheads use less water per minute they cannot correct very poor city pressure or restrictive piping design. There is no pump built into these heads even though innovative designs make it seem like they deliver more water in many situations. Finally, is your shower connection pipe mounted high enough to allow a hew unit like this be more than a couple inches over your head. If not, there is a new connection pipe for around $17 that Delta offers that let you change the height at which this unit would mount. It is adjustable at both ends. You might check with Delta to see if they recommend using it with this particular showerhead. Okay. So back to this unit's installation and function. My instructions (dated back in 2016) clearly say "no pliers or wrench" but when I called Delta they say that a wrench is fine and the unit has to flat areas at the connection for that purpose. That's according to instructions dated Feb., 2017. I do think those "flats: could be a bit wider so that it's easier to get a wrench on them. This unit takes a wrench bigger than most other showerheads since the connecting nut is larger in diameter. Also, I noticed that some people had an issue with getting the rain can up at the 12 o'clock position. I verified with Delta that there is a swivel connection between the female thread connecting nut and the showerhead body. It's a pretty stiff swivel however, so that the unit would flop around. You will definitely want to hold the connecting pipe tightly in your hand as you push the showerhead body to the point where the rain can is directly overhead. Now you probably understand whey I say you should check to make sure your pipes are secure in the wall. The last thing you would ever want is a broken connection inside your shower wall. Very bad. It almost always means turning off the water to the entire house until it is fixed. And if your pipe wiggles around, you will be stressing all the solder connections or glue connections each time you adjust the settings on this showerhead. Once the unit is installed, it functions quite nicely and you have a rain shower and traditional shower at a fraction of the cost of calling a plumber to retrofit your shower with a pipe from the ceiling or secondary pipe above your existing shower head. Even with what I would call sub-optimal water pressure at our house, the unit works fine from my point of view as well as my wife's. One more thing to note is that the diverter and shower settings are all in one adjustment on the front of my showerhead. It appears that there might be a change to this unit that puts the diverter function at the back pf the unit and next to the connection nut/swivel. This might actually be a bit high if you are short but it you always plan to use this unit in our favorite position it won't matter once you set it. If you have any questions, as I did, never hesitate to call Delta support. They were quite helpful, polite and interested in my issues. What they can't do is fix your piping or city water system pressure if one are both are giving too little water at your showerhead. Hope this is helpful.

We had a tub that would continually fill up when we bathed - almost to the point of overflowing. We'd had the line snaked and used enzyme products... everything. Nothing would stop it from backing up. We live in an older home (1970's) on a concrete slab so changing out the plumbing line wasn't an option. When our old rain shower head bit the dust, we bought this one. Guess what? The shower doesn't fill up any more. We have MORE than enough water pressure to bathe but there's barely an inch of water in the bottom of the tub even after being in the shower for 10 minutes. Could't be happier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dual head shower While on vacation I experienced the rain can shower head. I liked it so much I chose this model. The large rain can pivots for easy adjustment. The back stationary head has three (3) spray nozzle choices. This is perfect for soaping up and shampooing your hair. For a water conserving shower head, it works great. Installation: Luckily I took the advice of a friend and used Teflon tape on the threads of the shower pipe when installing my old head. It came off easily with the help of an open ended wrench. I cleaned off the pipe threads, added new Teflon tape to the threads, and screwed the new device till it was level. You can use a wrench to tighten and adjust for level as needed. Ten minutes and done. I like the chrome finish. The water jets are soft like silicone. I have this style on my other shower. It makes cleaning lime deposits easy.

It's big and bulky and made with plastic with a chrome coating. If you're tall, this product would work well because you'd actually be able to reach the adjustable top part to adjust it and the bottom sprayer will spray on your back. However, if you're short, you can't reach the adjustable top rain part and the bottom sprayer will spray over your head or on the back of your head. If you're on the short side like me, but have someone else who is tall that shares your shower, I'd go with the Waterpik Sidewinder, it's great for both!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best shower head ever Let me start by saying I am not apt with handyman work at all, I just learned how to find a stud in the wall last week and I was able to install this shower head. Some people have had issues with not getting it to go on straight. I ran into this issue too but I was able to turn it the other half turn it needed to go to be straight. It takes a bit of force as it is really tight but I’m a 5’4 female and was able to get it. While using the shower, I had a great experience. The rain/shower head combo is a bit weaker in water pressure as the water is colliding above you and being redirected but it was still nice. My favorite setting of the five is the rain only setting. It was powerful enough to rinse my shampoo and conditioner out without me having to do much at all. It was a luxourious shower and I will certainly be purchasing another for our guest bathroom.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do Not Purchase Don’t buy this product. I bought one, took it home, and the nut that holds the ball joint in place doesn’t turn. Moreover, it doesn’t install correctly; it is always at an angle to the vertical. Had to return it and get a new one, but have the same problem. Open to more boxes at the store trying the next exchange and found the same issue. If you pick this product up, open the box and make sure you can undo loosen the nut.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improve my quality of Iife This Dual Head Shower Unit replaces a Rain Forest Spray unit which cannot hold a candle to my Delta Unit. My entire body seems to have experienced a SPA Visit and I feel refreshed and ready to tackle any of my daily/nightly tasks upon completion of my showering experience. This is the best investment I have made in a long time

Nice to have the rainfall effect as well as the normal shower stream. Also the massage feels great. Can also angle the rainfall head 45 degrees forward and backwards. Highly recommend instead of spending big bucks for the same.
