what are the measurements of the trim kit

Recently installed. water don't come out of top first spray of handheld. Is that a defect or installation problem?

The spray holes at the top of the hand shower can be selected by pressing the square button on the handle firmly until it clicks. Is it solid stainless steel material or is it made to look like stainless steel?
