There is a cartridge in the valve.
Hi bk! Thank you for contacting us at Delta Faucet! I will be happy to help. Yes, the MultiChoice valve meets all local code and plumbing requirements for your area. Best Regards, Tim
Not sure I do believe so but I had a friend install it.
The installation instructions only say, "use proper fittings to connect (water supply)" so if there is a proper copper-to-PEX adapter fitting, you could use that. Alternatively, there is a valve body that comes up in the Home Depot search, which already has PEX crimp connectors attached: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta-MultiChoice-Universal-Tub-and-Shower-Valve-Body-Rough-In-Kit-with-1-2-in-PEX-Crimp-Connections-R10000-PXWS/100482555? I'd buy that one instead!
Hidan! Thank you for your question! I will be happy to help. If you are installing it for a shower only application we recommend you purchase the R10000-UNWSHF, so you won't need to cap off the bottom port. https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/product/R10000-UNWSHF Best Regards, Tim
The install I did with this unit did not require a Delta handle or shower head.
From what I researched, the thin wall kit strengthens the shower wall to keep valve from flexing/wobbling when mounting without any studs supporting valve. when I had mine replaced the plumber didn't have to support the valve because the copper piping coming out of slab was secure enough that it didn't move when installed.
I did what you are planning (capped the opening for the bath spout) and have no problems at all with shower pressure. The unit I replaced had been installed by a plumber, who had also capped the opening.
Thank you for your question, Matt! The R10000-UNBX valve will provide various flow rates, depending on the trim kit used and the PSI available to the home. At 60 psi, a 13/14 series can produce up to 5.8gpm but at 80 psi this can go as high as 6.8 gpm. A 17 series can produce approximately 5.9 gpm to 6.8 gpm at these rates whereas the 17T trims can produce anywhere from 7.3 gpm to 8.5 gpm. Best Regards, Benjamin
