next time it comes off, get a screwdriver and tighten the bracket up next to the wall. put a little more resistance pressure on it. if it still lifts, bend in your holding tab just a little. if it won't tighten next to the wall, you don't have a good anchor. you will need to redo them w new inserts or, best of all, go to a stud .
They have a small mounting plate with a hinge that the bar connects to so you can take the bar off when ever you want.

The 18" or 24" spacings are the same if you are using a template or using a tape measure or a yard stick. Mark your dimensions on the wall where you want to reinstall the bars. Use a level to make sure they are level. If you have trimmed the original towel bars shorter, put the bar supports and rod together and measure the distance between the mounting positions on the brackets and transfer this information to the wall.
