Does the wax ring come with it? will I need to buy anything else?

The flapper on my new delta Prelude toilet closes before all the water in the tank is released even though the chain is tight. Is this normal?

Yes, as long as it flushes well. If you have a water meter, see how much it uses during a flush and if its around 1.3 gallons it's doing its job.

How far would the bolt holes be from the wall.

The tank on my present toliet sits against the wall. The bolts are in a flange repair thing that I can't remove. I need to know if the holes will line up.

You will have to measure your old toilet. Measure from the flange bolts that come out of the floor to your wall behind the toilet. Make sure you have no wall trim that may block the tank later. You will get a measurement of 10", 12", or 14". Then you choose your toilet by its rough in size. If you have a 14" rough in, you can use a 14" toilet or a 12" toilet but the 12" toilet will leave a 2" gap behind the tank and not sit flat against the wall. If you want it flush with the wall surface you need to get the exact size of your rough-in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great but not a great flusher Ok, it's a 1.28gpf so we weren't expecting perfection. On the other hand, it is listed as a 10 for flushing and it is an 8 at best. It does a great job with liquid waste but solid waste tends to stick to the bowl. Really stick. To the point that some heavy brushing is sometimes necessary. Almost every solid waste flush requires a re-flush. We called the company to see if there was some way to improve the flush and were told no. You can't really raise the water level, which is really low, unless you have tiny hands. I gave up trying because there is no leverage to move the part you need to move where it is located. Ease of installation and great looks make for the minor frustration of having to re-flush and the occasional brush. It took about fifteen minutes total to install it after removal and clean-up from the old toilet. Don't even bother installing the seat that comes with it: it is not worth the plastic it is made of. Just plan to add some $ for a nice seat. Photo is the day of installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Toilet for the Money; Easy to Install! Let's just start out by saying that I've never done ANY plumbing in my life. Never. I decided to buy this toilet based on the other reviews stating how simple it was to install (plus it seemed like a good toilet, too). I literally had this thing installed in 30 minutes with no help from anyone! I knew that I needed an extra tall wax ring since I just had new (thick) tile floors installed, plus I needed a longer water connection line because this toilet is several inches higher than my old one. I had both of those ready and the toilet was installed with ease. Whey they say "no tools required" it's true -- everything you need is in the box! I also love the minimal amount of water it uses per flush. Like others have said, the seat is definitely flimsy, but eh...it's fine for now. I'm sure I'll replace it down the road when I get around to it, but I'm in no hurry. I love my new toilet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installation was a breeze! My 100 yr old farmhouse had such outdated plumbing fixtures when I moved in they had to go. I went on the HD website and researched toilets and liked the features of the Prelude 2 piece unit. It was not available for shipping so I picked it up. I watched the uninstall video on the website and removed the old toilet with no problem at all and disposed of it in the box that the new toilet was packaged in. Next I watched the install video and went to work. I followed the instructions to a T and successfully installed my own toilet with the single tool that they provide in the packaging. From beginning to end it took about an hour and a half to uninstall and install and I was thrilled to have done it myself and saved a plumbers charge of $100. By the was I am a 61 yr old woman who had no help. I would be happy to recommend this particular toilet to anyone who is shopping for one. It looks great, is chair height, and flushes with the touch of the handle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Installation - perfect I love this toilet. It was so easy to install, I bet it only took me 45 minutes or so from start to finish. The directions were well written, the parts were separated. They even give you the tool you need to install it. Yes, the toilet seat is a bit flimsy, but it came with it. I plan to eventually upgrade to a soft close seat. I spent 12 hours trying to install a defective Glacier Bay toilet and finally returned it and bought this toilet. The installation was completely effortless and thus proved that it was not me. I've only had the toilet for a day, but so far so good. I read the reviews on here that complained that since the water stays low in the toilet that they have issues with making marks on the bowl when doing #2. I can tell you that we have not had that experience yet and both my husband and I have attempted. Perhaps getting a cleaner that sticks in the bowl or tank would help. I imagine most of the water saver toilets could have this issue. It seems like a powerful flush to me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easily Installed, Great Asthetics I've never installed a toilet prior to the Delta Prelude, so I cannot speak as to how easy this one is to install vs others, but I can say that it's pretty easy in general. I really dig the fact there is a bracket at the bottom of the tank that eliminates the need to have bolts going through the bowl, this eliminates the worry of having any future leaks and makes the install super smooth. The toilet uses way less water than my previous American Standard toilet, and appears to get its flushing power by releasing all of the water into the bowl at one time vs the old swirling in method. The flush is quick and efficient. The only downside I have experienced with this is the fact it doesn't always clean the walls of the bowl. I guess I could also throw in the fact that the toilet seat is very cheap feeling, so much so that I am looking to swap it out. The toilet has great lines and has a very clean profile, which will enhance any modern bathrooms athletic quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than happy. Needed to replace a toilet that would clog if you looked at it the wrong way. Almost sprung for one over a hundred dollars more, but even though the Delta didn't have many reviews compared to the others, I went for the fact it had the innovative tank to bowl connection, and was advertised by Delta as virtually clog free. When I got it home and saw it was made in China, it was a little disappointing. But honestly, the fit and finish is outstanding. It went together like a dream, and when I turned the water on it filled right up to the line.....no adjustments needed, no nothing. I've waited two weeks before writing this review, and nothing we've "thrown" at it has come close to clogging.....premium T.P. and all. And the fact I'm going to get a 50 dollar watersense rebate from our water district is just icing. With a MaP rating of 10/10 you just cannot get a better toilet for your money. Agree the seat is cheap, so we bought a Bemis Whisper Close for 30 bucks, and couldn't be happier. I'm no expert, but I did do my research, and honestly believe I could have paid 2-5 times as much for something else, and not have gotten the performance and finish of the Delta. You will not be sorry.

Great product and easy to install but I would suggest buying an extra large wax ring because the one included is for use with a toilet flange that is raised above floor level. The included wax ring has a notice warning about this on the box. Who knows about that until they have pulled the toilet? Not a great time to find out that you have to go back to Home Depot for a larger wax ring. Buy one just to be on the safe side. Extra wax is not a problem but not enough is a big problem. Thanks to all the reviewers here for their valuable feedback. On their numerous suggestions, I picked up a seat while buying the toilet and did not use the included flimsy seat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, comfortable height This toilet flushes quickly and thoroughly. The tank is not as wide as the 1970's model it replaced, so I find it a bit easier to clean the floor around the back of the toilet. The height makes using it a big improvement in comfort for my 5'11" frame. After using it for a few weeks in our master bath, my husband and I bought a second one for a lavatory. The only down side is the enclosed seat. Before purchasing I read a review that said it would need replacing. I decided to wait and see for myself. The one included is flimsy plastic. I wish I had heeded that bit of advice and taken home a new seat the day I bought the toilet. I did so when buying the second one.
