I purchased this curtain rod over a year ago and the picture above is accurate to what I received
The 1-inch outer diameter rod is simple curved stock, with a two-piece fitting at each end. The cowling piece slides over, the wall mount piece slides inside the rod, then the cowling piece snaps down. The mounts are hinged to fit on side, angled, or end walls, but the cowling hole isn't big enough to accommodate a side-wall mount, I had to tin-snip one side of the rod hole to get it to fit.
It is not recommended to cut or trim the rod since it is adjustable. The minimum length it can be adjusted to is 42".
