Will this work for laminate flooring?

Asked by: Steve
NO, NO and sometimes yes. 95% of Laminates have special coatings on them that build up on the blade and dull them out incredibly quick. They make blades specifically for laminate flooring. You will go though at least a blade or more a house and it starts burring its way though the laminate. This is from my professional experience as a General Contractor.

BUY THIS BLADE FOR YOUR TABLE SAW. It really is as simple as that. I had to do some serious cutting, and the edges had to be suitable for gluing afterwards. I kept on going back and forth between an $80 glue line blade, and a cheaper (but still expensive for me) $50 ripping blade, and I eventually went with this one just to hold me over until I decided what I needed. The thing is, though, I don't see myself changing this thing out. Like, ever. It's handled everything I had to throw at it. It cuts through 1-inch stock like butter, leaving clean, glue-ready edges 95% of the time (and the rest was user error). It even powered through 2-inch thick red oak (pictured), and as you can see, there are practically no blade marks at all, and no burning either! So again: BUY THIS BLADE. Unless you're an ultra-specialized professional, this blade will do everything you need and more. I couldn't be happier with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for trim and fine finish work When we decided to put new flooring in our house, I wanted to have the right tools to do the job. I already had a miter saw, but it was still equipped with a 44-tooth rough cut blade. Equipping my saws (both table and miter) with the right blade for finish work was important to me. After equipping my saw with the Diablo blade, I believe the claims made on the product page. The blade worked well to cut accurately and precisely. Even though the kerf is thin, the blade was rigid and stayed true even through difficult cuts. I was making bevel cuts through 3.5" oak flooring with no difficulty. The non-stick coating works! I didn't experience some of what I have experienced with my "standard" blades. I never had to clean the blade during my project, and that's even considering some of the work was to cut pre-painted moulding and trim. I work with a lot of sappy pine and cedar lumber with my saws. For my next construction project, I think I'll also pick up the 44-tooth version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent saw blade for the price This saw blade has done wonders for my budget Black Friday table saw. As an aspiring woodworker, I knew two things: I need a good saw blade that would give me good clean (rip and cross) cuts. After doing my research on all the forums, I concluded that this saw blade would have to be a thin kerf combination blade that would let me both rip and cross without changing blades. I narrowed my choices down to this Freud Diablo, and the new Irwin Marples 50T. I opted to go with the Freud, as a tried and true option. After replacing the rip blade that came with my table saw, I noticed that the rip cuts went through slightly cleaner. There were dramatic improvements to the saw's cross-cut ability. Since getting this saw blade, I've cut some MDF, plywood, pine and poplar with this blade. The cuts are smooth, with tearout and blowout when expected when cutting across the grain. If you are looking for a good all-in-one solution at a good price, the Freud Diablos won't disappoint.

I was a bit skeptical after reading previous reviews regarding the cutting consistancy of these blades. The first use I made of one of these blades was to rip veneer I had made from oak and sycamore boards. It was two oak boards 3/4" thick and one sycamore board 1" thick, for a total of 2 1/2". It was slow, but not because of the blade. It was at the upper limit of the saw. I ripped 8 of these, 40" long. After cutting them, I measured the thicknesses with a digital caliper and found the greatest variance to be ~0.035" over all the cuts. This is very good considering that after I ripped them, I ran them through my thickness planer and afterwards found the variance to be ~0.030". The blade cut virtually as true as the planer and very smooth. Also, I saw 'very little' burning on the rip cuts, usually when I varied the cut speed when changing my grip on the material. I can say that I am completely satisfied with these blades and recommend them wholeheartedly.

I have used this blade for the last four blade replacements and will probably continue to do so. I have used other blades and I find that none really last as long as I'd like but this one lasts the longest. The cut quality is above average and it's not very expensive. I have used less expensive blades but they did not last nearly as long as the Diablo.

Because the price was lower than other blades I wasn't sure if it was going to be up to the job; my fears were unfounded. I was using this on heavily pressure treated lumber to replace a dock. The blade sliced easily through all the "wet" lumber. The job was unusual because every board required two angle cuts and the blade looks and preforms like new after a hard weekend of work. Diablo will now be my go to brand for saw blades.
