Questions & Answers

How do these attach to and work with a hook & loop sander?

Asked by: LambdaRAD
You use the black application pad provide with the disks and just stick the SandNet disks to that.

Does it leave swirls like the other sanding disks do?

Asked by: Becki
Hello Becki, and thank you for your question and interest in Diablo Sanding Disc. Swirling can be caused by several issues such as pushing to hard on the material or sanding past the life of the sanding disc. When a disc is clogged or loaded, it will develop pockets of collected material from sanding that will cut into the material leaving swirl marks. I recommend changing the disc sooner to avoid swirls. This can also happen depending on the material being sanded whether it is too hard or soft for the application. The Diablo SandNet will help eliminate the swirls in that it allows for the particulate to pass through the surface of the sanding disc with proper dust collection. If some loading does occur on the SandNet disk, all you have to do is vacuum or rinse it off and continue sanding. Hope this helps! Thanks

5 in. 180-Grit SandNet Disc with Free Application Pad (10-Pack) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 27.

The "net" design allows the sanded material to pass through into the sanders vacuum system (for sanders that have vacuum holes in the sanding pad). This feature alone helps the sanding but should the SandNet "load-up" it can be washed - something I can't do with my conventional sandpaper. The kits includes everything to convert a hook-loop sander to the SandNet. There is an intermediate pad that goes between the sander hook-loop and the SandNet disc. This applicator allows the sanded material to pass through the sanding disc versus load it up. The applicator is hook-loop as well so it just sets on the sanders hook-loop pad then apply the disc to the applicator hook-loop. The disc is a screen like material that contains the sanding grit. The screen sands the material and the sanding dust just passes right through. Better sanding is less time!

They may last a little longer, but the edges become frayed after a while, which basically makes them useless. Won't buy again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Quickly loses coarseness The 80 grit quickly loses effectiveness and becomes more like 220.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasts 2x as long but Doesn't cut like paper I thought I'd try this out on a piece of oak furniture that I'm redoing. I grabbed some 80 grit and went to it trying to remove the old finish. I sanded on my Rigid RO sander for about 20 minutes on the same screen. After that it was definitely time to change. Definately not 10x like the package says. You can feel the grit going away after a bit and it stops cutting. The biggest problem I had was that the 80 grit cuts like 220. After getting frustrated, I switched to some 120 paper I had and cut twice as fast as the 80 grit SandNet. I'd say it's not worth the money. I bought two packages and I'm going to take the other one back.

I was at my local HD store a while back so the lady told me to try this product. I was sceptical at first but she said that if I didn't like it bring it back for a refund so I did. I got some 80, 150, 220, and 320. It is the best sanding product I have ever used. I'm a wood worker and refinisher and I have my orbital sander hooked up to my shop vac and a Dust Cyclone and I never get clogged. I can also use the pads on my sanding blocks when I'm sanding by hand or between coats of sealer, or even by hand when you need to sand turned items, routed, knock out edges, distressed look. I am all about saving money and I use my 80 grid and when it's worn-out well it becomes 100 well almost or close enough. Bottom line this product is amazing and I have used just about everything out on the market.

Diablo 5 IN. 180-GRIT SANDNET DISC WITH FREE APPLICATION PAD (10-PACK) were excellent. Using just one disc, I was able to sand down about One hundred and Eighty square feet of decking, no soft material, prior to re priming it. The one disc required cleaning about every twenty square feet, but once cleaned, just went on and on. I have nine discs left, and probably life left in this one!!

My sander requires the disc to have PSA, pressure sensitive adhesive, so they won't work on my sander. I received this item as a free product to use, test, and rate. I did not realize they were not PSA discs. Unfortunately I cannot give a fair review of this product due to this issue. But I did inspect the discs, felt the texture ,and quality of materials used to produce the sanding disc. They seem to be of very good quality, good grit, sturdy, made well. I would recommend these discs to anyone with the type of sander that uses this type of disc.

I started using these sanding discs from Home Depot and love them as they draw air through them very well, they don't clog the way normal sand paper does and they last longer (I'm not sure about the 10X longer, but at least 4X longer). Also, I swear the 80 grit version gives me a finish like a regular 180 grit, yet takes down the high spots like an 80 grit is supposed to work - quickly. The negative is they are pricey, but I think they are well worth the cost premium.
