Nice to use as a gift for iphone 5 owner
After hearing my granddaughter talk about losing her ear buds, we just wanted to try this case with retractable headphones. It is a good solution to a recurring problem. We have received good comments back from the kids. The only disadvantage to the case is it will fit only an iphone 5 and not the new iphone 6. The case will have to stay with the older phone.

Poorly made - Broke within minutes
I was looking forward to receiving this for my iPhone 5. I thought it would be a great compromise by having the headset built in to the case. What I received was a poorly made case that broke the first time I pulled outage headphones. I took the case off of my phone and tried to see where the problem was. The headphones pull out, but immediately retract. The locking mechanism seems to be broken. I would not recommend this at all.

Good idea, but not the best design
This is a good idea, but because of the design of the iphone, it doesn't end up working too well. Since the phone won't ring if the head phones are connected there is a slide button that must be used to disconnect the head phones. This works ok, but is a hassle to remember to do each time or you won't hear your phone ring. The head phones retract fairly well, but need to be fed smoothly and then stuffed into the end. The case ends up kind of large to hold the head phones and the head phone jack disconnection. This case may be perfect for some people, but I didn't really like it.

Not the most durable.
The idea is nice, but the headphones have a tendency to retract unexpectedly, therefore, jerking your earbuds out of your ear. The sound quality is good when using the earbuds. A generic case of some kind would make it easier to carry, as there is no clip or anything to attach this to a belt. If you are the type of person who just puts your phone in your pocket however, this might work okay for you. This case offers ZERO screen protection, as it sits flush with the sides of huge screen. So you will definitely need a screen protector, and don't expect it to protect your phone from a fall. Overall installation of the case is easy, being 2 pieces that snap together from top & bottom. Overall if you are pretty easy on your phone and just want the integrated earbuds so you don't lose them, it's fine. But for the average user who also needs protection because we can't afford to replace phones constantly, you will probably be disappointed.

This broke right out of the box
Upon taking the new TurtleCell Retractable Headphone Case for my iPhone 5 out of the box, I noticed that it was rather cheap feeling. I decided to run it though the paces of daily use and give it a fair review. I took my iPhone 5 out of my current case and began to read the instructions on how to install it into this TurtleCell case. I snapped the case together and gave it a try. I opened my music player and pulled out the retractable headphones. I then flipped the switch on the side of the phone to engage the speaker to headphone option. The headphones sounded pretty good! I was really liking this case idea. However, within a few minutes, the cord started retracting on its own. The mechanism that keeps the headphones extended failed. I looked for the troubleshooting in the manual and found nothing that mentions this problem, only if they won't retract. I tried that anyway, no success. It seems that it just couldn't hold up to the tension of being extended. Overall, the case feels cheap. The plastic feels thin and like it was cheaply molded. The buttons and switches aren't top shelf either. I don't recommend this product.

The idea of having earphones that you can't misplace and can't find them when you need them is a positive. They retract very nicely, but I would suggest holding the wires because they snap back pretty quickly and I'm not sure if they could eventually be damaged. The sound is very good, I listened to an album and have no complaints. The cord is nice and long and has an in-line microphone helpful for answering and ending calls, playing music, and skipping tracks. The case itself is cool looking with the mock turtle shell design. The only complaint I have is there is no screen protector included -- and I had to buy one because I am rough on the screen. Also, a clip would be nice to secure to your clothes or bag.
