Heats up quick but noisy and getting louder
Bought these from HD ~4yrs ago. Unfortunately replacing them now. Pros: - heats up my space quick! 400sq ft room being heated by 2x1500W and its quite toasty quickly. - aesthetics: they look much nicer than any comparably priced unit and are MUCH smaller (40" vs 66" length) Cons: - ever since installing they've always made a buzzing noise (tinkered with the mounting screws to reduce noise but with no effect - now (last 2 months) when the thermostat kicks in there's a louder "knocking" sound coming out of each baseboard. Fins are straight and baseboards are clean. The room heated is my basement which was sparingly used - so the initial buzzing was tolerable... but the space is being more and more so the noises are less wanted. If not for the knocking sounds I'd keep them longer. Also some concerns about what I read from other reviewers about marking the paint on the wall due to heat.

Good Day,

I see you've already loosened screws and verified that all fins were upright as this is usually is the cause of the excessive noise when the units expand/contract during the heating process. Some consumers have replaced their wall thermostat if a different brand than Dimplex was used and this has made quite a difference. As we test with our own thermostats, the digital ones have proven to far more efficient. Recommended would be double pole.

Food for thought.

We purchased this heater for a backup unit. Our primary heat is in floor. We turned it on prior to starting our in floor heating system this fall and the heater discharges the heat up instead of out and it actually melted the paint off the wall. We just replaced it with a baseboard that discharges the heat from the front.

      Nice looking upgrade
They heat up quickly And seem to be a good price but compared to older baseboards the metal is very thin. Weak plastic spacers to keep it away from the wall and floor. Work fine with older wall thermostats

Nice look, heat well, install fairly easy w/ tips
Nice looking unit, I put several of these in our home along with some smart thermostats. Only tested once, since it is still warm out here, but they seem to give off good heat and they do heat up quickly. Easy enough to install, although the brackets are a bit of a challenge, since you have to clip them in while fitting them up on the wall and put the screws in - they pop out fairly easily. I found easiest way to deal with this was to clip the brackets in behind, pre-thread all screws a few turns, then use shims underneath the baseboard while I lined up and screwed the unit in. This would prevent putting weight on the brackets and popping out. Also I used longer 3-inch floor screws to get past the gyprock and insulation to the wood behind, worked well.

      Not worth it
We had these installed in our condo. They are compact and attractively styled. That however is where the benefits end. They get extremely hot, to the point that they were burning the paint off of our window casings that are 8 inches above the units. They also get very hot internally. Thus constantly shutting off at high limit and then re starting. Frankly the older style baseboard heaters are a much better heater for the money. We just replaced 2 of these units with the stelpro b units and couldn't be happier other than we are replacing something we just replaced a year ago. And the other thing to keep in mind is that electric heat is already 100% efficient. Replacing baseboards will not save you money on heating.

Good Day Dave, We are very sorry to hear that your heaters are not working to be expected. Our baseboard do have a spacer kit that can be installed behind the baseboard to move the heat slightly out so it does not go straight up the wall. My concern is that the baseboards are installed under a window only 8 inches we do not advise the baseboards be installed that close to under a window. Electric baseboard heater
Ensure you use the supplied plastic mounting brackets, don’t mount directly to the wall as the wall will overheat when heater is running. Good product, easy installation.

Installed easy and ran well, see how well it does in winter. I was a little disspointed in finish quality, it looks like they got 90% on quality control and gave up. Fave plate was a little bent and it looked like the screws were painted with whiteout. But I'm about to buy another one so my heaters.

Had these installed by electrician. When trying to set up schedule, it is impossible, instructions are not clear at all. Can't figure out how to turn it off never mind, set it up on a schedule. Frustrated. contacted Dimplex - surprise no response.

Well it finally hot outside. I don't need to turn on the heater. I like the sleek, modern design. Heat can come from the top , underside and it has spacers between the wall and heater so you can clean behind. I was really upset the first one I ordered was defective. I had to order another and pay a handyman twice to install it. Was not happy about that

Simple, straightforward install....once you figure out a few tricks. Nice contemporary appearance and quick efficient performance out of a much smaller package than older models.

            Prefer old style
I bought these to replace some older baseboards I had, and much prefer the older style. I can't find anything but these newer compact (er, manufacturing cost optimized) baseboard heaters, which are shorter than the older ones for the same wattage. As a result, the wiring is an issue since you have to make up for the shorter length heater. Also, it heats the walls up more since they are shorter with the same heat output. As a result, these come with spacers which looks like an afterthought to stand the heater off the wall, creating a nice gap ideal to to dropping/losing things behind the heater. On top of that, there used to be an overhang to protect the fins from getting dusty from overhead. Now that is gone and the fins can collect dust from overhead. None of these things are an improvement over the older version, other than these look a little more modern.

              noise complaint
If you tighten the screws too much the unit cannot expand & contract without making noise. Use flat head sheet metal screws to attach to wall & then back off about a quarter turn (or as needed if the wall is crooked)

                Great product, great price
It went in easy enough (or at least my husband didn't complain). We purchased 3 for the bedrooms in our "new to us" home. I love the shorter size compared to standard baseboard heat. A few times I have heard the"buzzing" noise but nothing bothersome enough for me to want to return or complain about. In fact, we're buying more when we finish our basement!

very noisy - don't buy very annoying!!!!
Always here this tic..tic...tic....then humming noise, buzzing constantly, just replace them and I wanted to save money in electricity by buying better and more efficiency, more modern. I have spend thousands in rads and electrician just to constantly hear this buzzing noise... very very annoying should of kept the older rads, they weren't noisy like these. I recommend you don't buy...

We appreciate this feedback as it helps us to better address any concerns or issues. If the baseboard is ticking, depending on its length, sometimes just loosening the screw a little bit, will allow the board to expand and contract. When metal heats it will expand, but loosening the screw just a bit it allows for expansion. Should the noise persist please contact Dimplex Customer Service and we will help in any way we can. Please contact us at 1-888-346-7539 or cs@dimplex.com so that we can discuss further. DimplexCustomerService
