Can this unit be mounted to a Sheet rock wall?
Asked by: Mort
Good Morning, Placement of the Smart Baseboard Smart Baseboards are high performance heaters designed to operate at higher outlet temperatures than conventional baseboard heaters. They are to be mounted with the included optimizer kit onto drywall, plaster, wood or concrete walls. ! NOTE: If the unit is being installed on a newly constructed wall, ensure that all products that have been applied are fully cured according to manufacturer’s instructions, before operating the unit.! NOTE:Failure to install optimizer kit will increase the wall temperature and may discolor or deform some materials (e.g. vinyl or plastic) Thank you

How do you turn them off? I am using these heaters to heat a patio room. Do not need heat on in spring and summer.

Asked by: Nicky
Hi Nicky, These heaters come with a single-pole thermostat, which means they have a low setting but no off. That means at the lowest setting, these heaters will turn on if the room temperature drops below freezing. So they shouldn't be providing heat in spring/summer unless you have a night that drops below that point. If you want to turn them off, you will need to flip the breaker that powers them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive Design Compared to Other Brands This Dimplex unit is quite different than most other hard-wired baseboard heaters. It's a fraction of the size (yet just as effective), much better looking, and has an advanced electronic built-in thermostat. You can even get an optional wall controller that can wirelessly operate a bunch of them. It puts out as much heat as other units of comparable wattage despite being a fraction of the size. It's much more expensive than the competition, but it's worth it because it is so much nicer, better-looking, and according to Dimplex's claims, up to 33% more efficient. It also comes with the electronic thermostat built in, whereas the competition offers mechanical ones that are rarely included and usually must be purchased separately. There are versions of these without the thermostat that are 50% cheaper. These units come in a range of wattages and voltages to suit your needs. If you want adequate heat, you have to determine which model can heat the square footage of the intended space. I deducted one star because of the two units I bought, one was dead from the factory - giving rise to quality control concerns. Still I highly recommend it. It makes competing models look quite antiquated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommend If you balance these properly and select the correct wattage for the room these things work great. I had four installed, two on A thermostat required by Insurance, And two on remite and have had no problem with hot walls however I’m prudent and I would not put curtains above them At all. I use solar shades on the windows. Im in oregon in a moderate climate temperature. Set them where you like the temp. Then incrrase five degrees and step back. I feel the temp rise. They cycled on an off as they claim and did not get overly hot on the wall. And yes be very cautious with the little ones. I believe this is the only improvement over all those ugly baseboards we’ve seen for far too many years. But you can’t just stick in any wattage. The low profile of the units is a substantial improvement. Any adjustments I’ve made such as shades make them all worth it. I had gas logsInstalled and the electric will become secondary but if I had to have electric I definitely use these.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sets off the smoke alarm Installed in a room that has a smoke alarm. The heater sets off the alarm. Tried twice. Returning the product as i do not have time to deal with it. Had difficulty putting the front cover back on as it would not line up (poor design). Overall metal work is subpar. The advertised wattage (2000W) is for 240V, but standard household voltage is 208V (which means lower wattage).

I put them in rental apts, (2 per apt), and now don't have to worry about maintaining a heat pump. If they go bad it's $100 not $4000. All positive comments from the Tennant's too.
