A:  This stick vac used microfiber cleaning pads designed for use on hard floor surfaces. It will not work on carpet, Dirt Devil manufactures other model vacuums that are multi-use for hard surface and carpet, available at The Home Depot..

A:  No. This vacuum doesn't even hardly work on bare floors. The suction is horrible.

Q:How does it compare against other vacuums regarding noise level?

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Walt! All of our products do meet certain standards and are tested to make sure that they are under a certain noise level. Under normal working conditions, our upright vacuums normally fall in the 80-82 decibel range. Small vacuums (stick and hand vacuums) tend to be a bit quieter. Depending on the surroundings and how close a person is to the vacuum, some units might be a bit higher than this but in general this is where most of our units will fall. Hope this helps! -Karissa, Dirt Devil Customer Care

A:  Great suction in my opinion but that's to be expected for a 110AC unit.

Works amazingly on wood floors and carpets! Cars too!
This vacuum does it all! Period! I have not found a surface or material That this vacuum cannot clean. It's so small and portable that I can take it outside and clean my van with ease. When I need to get to all the small cracks in crevices of my kitchen were crumbs and pet hair form, this vacuum has tools to get in there and clean it all up. When my ceiling fans are dirty, there's an attachment for that. When I need to extend the pole all the way up and clean my vaulted ceiling's, there's an attachment for that. The vacuum and about seven attachments all come inside of a rugged tote bag. The cord is industry grade, not cheap at all, and will withstand years of being coiled up. You can see in my photos how fast it filled with dirt. It makes me feel really bad to know that my house is really this dirty! I recommend that you pick up one for yourself.

              Cleaning made easy
This is an awesome Dirt Devil product. It comes with 6 attachments for any job whether sweeping the steps, dusting the vents, cleaning the blades of a ceiling fan or sweeping the kitchen floor. Great for cleaningn up dog hair. Easy to assemble. Comes in a compact case for travel and easy storage. An extra long cord makes it convenient to use in any room and especially the steps. This product is light weight.

              Not bad
Overall this is a pretty nice, multi-function vacuum. I've gotten the most use out of the fan cleaning and floor cleaning attachments. The fan attachment is fantastic - gone are the days of dust going everywhere when cleaning the fan blades! The floor cleaning attachment does a great job of cleaning the floor, but can be a little awkward to use since it pivots so easily. My wrists are usually a bit sore after vacuuming the floor. The microfiber pads are easily removed for washing. Putting everything away is easy with the included storage bag. There's a long thin pouch along the side for the extension which I didn't see at first. Everything sort of fits into the bag, you gotta play around with the arrangement until a happy medium is found. No for a few negatives. The dust bin isn't all that big, so if you're cleaning a large or particularly dusty area, you might find yourself emptying it out pretty often. Luckily it is easy to remove and replace. The cord on the unit is VERY long, which is nice to have, but it sometimes gets in the way. One minor annoyance is that the vacuum sometimes makes this high pitched whistling sound during use. I have no idea where its coming from, but it stops doing it at random. All in all, a good buy!

              Does what it's intended for!!!
The first thing I would like to say is that this is not an all-in-one vacuum. With that being said it does all the jobs perfectly, for what it is meant for. Please do not buy this vacuum if cleaning carpets is your priority. The vacuum comes in a nice bag which makes the storage very easy. It is very powerful (without being too noisy) considering its size and comes with a plethora of attachments for fans, upholstery, etc. I have been extremely pleased with the floor cleaner and it is really more convenient than sweeping. I never imagined I could clean my ceiling fans this efficiently with a vacuum, the fan tool does just that. The telescoping wand gives reach to the far off surfaces. The cleanup is very easy as well being a bagless vacuum. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product if you are looking for a vacuum for hard floors, fans, ac grills and those hard to reach surfaces.

Excellent for cars, blinds, fans, electronics, and shelves
This is a great little vacuum, very compact and it comes with a duffle bag that fits all the pieces in. The first thing I used it for was to clean all my ceiling fans. It did an ok job, had to vacuum through twice to get all the dirt off. The ceiling fan attachment only has suction from the bottom, so you’re pretty much cleaning the top of the blades with the cloth upper attachment part. It seems that the bottom brush part that has the suction prevents the dust you’re removing from the top of the blade to go into the air so it’s not dusty. I like the little compact piece for vacuuming my car, it’s pretty powerful and light enough that it won’t get your arm tired. This is a nice gadget to have around the house, not as a main vacuum but as an accessory. I also cleaned behind the TV with the duster attachment and it took so much out. The cloth dusters are machine washable and easy to remove. I would recommend this because it’s compact, not expensive, and very useful for the hard to reach areas (blinds, fans, electronics, and shelves).

Powerful, handheld corded vac with lots of specialty attachments
This is a very powerful handheld vacuum that comes with a number of handy attachments for a variety of around the house chores. Incredibly handy and versatile. I love the fan attachment. It's incredibly. Now, if they made one for plantation shutters I'd be even more in love! I don't really think of this as a standard stick vacuum (which are generally cordless and slightly less powerful). To me this is a specialty item that's great for cleaning floors, fans, upholstery, etc without having to lug around a big heavy vacuum. I love it. You aren't giving up power for the small size- the upholstery attachment was just as powerful (if not more so) than the one that came with my full sized vacuum. Good to know: It's not always clear from the pictures, but this is a corded vacuum. - Some of the attachments were slightly difficult to pull off once attached (nothing that a little elbow grease couldn't take care of). - The vacuum also got fairly hot while I was using the upholstery attachment on a dining bench. (It wasn't burning or anything, but it did throw a fair bit of heat). All in all, I'd highly recommend this stick vac-it's versatile and INCREDIBLY powerful. Even if you just bought it to clean your fan blades, you'd be getting your money's worth!

              A standing triple
The quick version of this review is to buy it if you need the power of a corded vac and plan to use the powered tool and hard floor tool. If you only want it for the above floor tool and fan tool then a Swiffer or similar tool will work just as well. And no it is not meant to clean all your carpets. My only gripe is they didn’t include the dusting tool. I almost bought a Black and Decker cordless which is about half the price but you get so much more with the Dirt Devil 360. Even if you only use two of the attachments it is worth it. I wanted something to clean the stairs, my car, and the bathrooms and do small cleanups around the house. This is perfect for those jobs. The storage bag actually fits all the pieces but the key to these units is having it at the ready. I have it hanging in the laundry room and since it has proven capable I plan to make a holster for grab and go convenience. Winding the cord takes about 10 seconds so I don’t regret not getting a cordless version. The cord is over 25 feet. The hard floor attachment is great and is almost worth the extra cost by itself. Its basically a Swiffer with suction so you get the fine dust and the big bits without bending over. The swipes microfiber pad does a great job and comes off easy, toss it in the laundry when it is dirty. The star attraction for me is the powered stair and upholstery tool. This thing is so nimble and light and provides plenty of power. Since the brush is truly powered it doesn’t bog down when really pushing into the carpet to get it nice and fluffy. It does a much better job than my full size vacuum attachment that is suction powered. Works just as well in the car. The extension wand with the dusting tool attached (not included but it should be!) is the 2nd reason I use this on a regular basis. It does a great job dusting around the house and in the bathrooms. Being small and lightweight makes it easy to get in and around the nooks and cranny’s. when dusting pictures and nick backs I can move from one area to another very quickly. Where it falls short is with the above floor tool and ceiling fan attachment. The top of furniture attachment is very capable of picking up dust with the microfiber cloth but really doesn’t get vacuumed up so you could use this without the vacuum turned on. There are holes in the attachment but there would have to be a lot of dust flying into the air for it to suck it up. I consider this a bonus since I didn't already have a swimmer type cleaner. The ceiling fan attachment has the suction on the wrong end. The duster attachment is on the top where the dirt is. Again the microfiber picks up the dust just fine but since this is a vacuum I would rather have a specially shaped wand with a brush that sucks up the dust. Actually if the metal bar came off the attachment it would make a great stick broom vacuum for in the kitchen or on other hard surfaces. I hope the engineers are listening.

              Handy
It's not so much the vacuum, which has great suction, but the attachments. I used the ceiling fan attachment to clean the blades of a ceiling fan without dust falling all over the place. The pivoting attachment is great for dusting the top of bookcases or cabinets. And the floor attachment works great for under furniture. Everything fits in the supplied small duffel bag.

              Great Vacuum For Hard Surfaces
This vacuum seems to be designed for hard flooring and other hard surfaces. Most of the tools have fabric covered heads that can easily be removed and washed. First thing that I noticed when un-boxing the vacuum is how nicely everything fits into the storage bag. This makes it easy to carry all the tools with you from one location to another. All the tools are well built and have a solid feeling. The vacuum is light and well balanced making any overhead work easy. The adjustable elbow makes vacuuming the tops of cabinets or ceiling fan blades very easy. The crevice tool is very small and has a soft tip; this is great for small areas like under the fridge or stove. Cleaning large hard surface floors is almost as easy as using a dust mop but much better. The front of the dust mop attachment has a wide thin slot across the front so any loose dirt gets sucked up before it gets into the mop head. This makes it easy to get all the dirt on a large floor cleaned up before the fabric head needs to be cleaned. The power brush is on the smaller size and won't work with the extension wand. I wish the wand had been designed so the power head could have been used with it. The power head does have a reversible shield so cleaning curtains or other vertical surfaces is as easy as any flat horizontal surface. The vacuum came with a full 27 foot cord so you won't need to move from one power receptacle to another. The vacuum for its size and weight is very powerful and also quieter than expected. Removing dog hair from car carpets was easy with this vacuum. Dumping the dustbin is easy with just a push of a button. The dustbin is easy to remove, as is the dustbin filter. Just a small twist of the dustbin and it's off the vacuum body, once the filter is removed from the rear of the dustbin it can be rinsed out with water or blown out with air. Overall this is a great little vacuum for hard surfaces, if you have a home with a wood burning stove like we do this is a great lightweight cleaning tool that is light and easy to use. I still wish the wand would have been made so that the power head could have been used with it.

All that and a bag of chips but NO CRUMBS!!
Being a self aware OCD clean freak, there's one thing I know about and it's cleaning. Dust bunnies beware!! Having stained concrete floors and area rugs combined with the strictly enforced "no shoes in the house rule under penalty of death", means that I have learned that all vacuums are not created equal. I've used Hoovers, Shark and Dustbusters and finally thought I had discovered it all with my Dyson even at the high price point. That is until I've had the chance to try this puppy out. Never having a Dirt Devil before I wasn't sure what to expect especially since this one professes to be so many things in 1. Yeah, that usually never works out well since self-professed combo units usually do one or two things well and then fail at the others - especially with combination flooring. I thought this all-in-one solution would allow me to rid myself of the dry floor mop and my beloved Swiffer! So far this doesn't seem to be the case with this Dirt Devil. It's a well thought out unit that can handle various tasks easily and efficiently. It needs to be noted that this unit is primarily for hard floor surfaces, not carpets and area rugs and has other minor limitations as well. Here are some of my observations thus far: PROS: LOTS of attachments - When I unpacked the unit I at first thought there was no crevice tool and became very concerned about my crevices (they keep me up at night)... Alas it's conveniently stored in the handle of the unit itself (thank goodness). The ceiling fan blade attachment is genius and the powered rotating brush attachment is great for sofas, chairs, steps etc but NOTE that it is only powered when attached to the actual handheld unit and will only work via suction at the end of the extension rod. There's a convenient storage bag to keep everything neat and organized. The ample 27 foot long cord allows for good reach. The 5 amp "cyclonic technology" motor gives powerful suction without being too noisy. The dust cup is hinged and located at the bottom of the handheld unit for easy emptying. The telescoping extension rod is METAL!! Yup, no cheap plastic tube here and although it does add weight to the piece when lifting it overhead, it's negligible. It has an amazing 12 feet of reach which is great for those of us that aren't overly tall. Also note that the extension rod can be adjusted to click and lock in at varying lengths along the rod = awesome! The removable and washable dust mop floor attachment is fantastic; allowing for suction and dusting simultaneously. CONS: The unit weighs 3.2 pounds which is light and doesn't sound like lots however when you are cornering and maneuvering the unit under and around furniture, it's all in the wrist action and that can get a tad tiring with that weight and the way it's angled. The flexible flaps on the floor attachment that are supposed to clean the floor molding don't flip up that easily and you need to get more of the wrist action going to get them to flip up sometimes. Although the attachments are lower profile, the handheld unit angles down where it attaches to the top of the extension rod so you can't exactly get under the sofa or deep under the beds. You can twist the unit to the side for a little more reach (=more wrist action and lack of suction) but still cannot quite get there so I guess I will need to hold on to my trusty Swiffer after all. Mind you I am by no means disappointed in this Dirt Devil, in fact I plan on making this my daily go to cleaning unit. (Yes, I clean my floors daily.) This is a fantastic, feature and accessory rich all-in-one cleaning unit that packs a punch, especially at this price!! I highly recommend it and commend Dirt Devil for offering so much at such an affordable price point.
