Beautiful staircase, well made, easy to assemble, and versatile. I'd recommend it for small spaces. In order to make it work in our small space, we placed the stair as 3 small stairs and added two platforms as rest. Still working on it, but after measuring it is going to fit perfectly.

Excellent product. I needed to put in stairs in a very tight space, a hallway. I had a good craftsman install it; it was straightforward, but one does need two people. The only criticism I have is that the manufactuer recommended an opening of 32" x 55"; instead, we used 31.5" x 61". The extra 6" was absolutely necessary to avoid hitting one's head going up or down. Once installed, it is very solid. Oh yes, and I don't know about dogs, but as you can see from the picture, my cats absolutely love it. :)

Great stairs, Not for the novice to install
I am a very handy guy. Being a kit, I had expected that these stairs would be a little easier to install. I eventually got them in but it is quite a lot of work. It is not "Lego". Make sure you put supports in at the appropriate places as suggested. You will have to calculate exactly the correct length in order to get your stairs in straight.. The instructions leave you to figure this out. For my taste the, fittings are too loose and depend too much on the set screws to level and secure the stairs. i can see that this will be a maintenance item, i.e. tightening the stair set screws regularly, a bit of a pain. Some of the rails were not bent square and required some muscle, to straighten out.. Couldn't see that they were crooked until they were installed, then taken apart and re-installed. I feel like I installed this staircase three times before I was finally finished. Again, i am a handy guy, built many stairs from scratch, this one was a lot of work. It took me from breakfast to bedtime to get this in. When finally done it looks great and fits well into the space it was supposed to go. No other style staircase would have addressed my problem so the fuss was worth it..

Bought these for a lake cabin due to size limitations. It took me with my wife handing me parts about 3 hours. A helpful hint have a helper or take the time to do it yourself before you start assembling - start the Allen wrench set screws ahead of time just don’t tighten them until you get the step leveled. You won’t fumble with the screws and the process goes much quicker.

Took some measuring, was able to gradually turn each piece and adjust each pieces height. I made the last 2 steps a bit taller then the rest but it fits perfect now. It bows a little in the middle when walking on it, to be expected. Seems sturdy so far. Handles ~280# just fine.

Overall I am happy with the stairs. Although having to chase the paint out of every hole on each stair section was a bit of a task. For the price paid the fit&finish could be improved upon.

A nice solution to a tight problem
We have a small house, and the space available for basement access is very confined (63" long, 24" wide). Prior to these stairs, we had a ladder for access, since there was no way to build a conventional staircase or spiral stairs. We were going to build a set of alternating tread stairs when we found this. The stairs arrive strapped to a largish skid, approx. 40x40". It is not light - 200+ pounds. After opening it up and inventorying parts (kit includes allen wrenches and a bag of spare fasteners, beyond what's needed), I was pleased with the quality of the components. Metal parts are sturdy, heavy-gauge steel. Welds are neat with good penetration. Paint is even and neat. Stair treads are laminated hardwood (beech or birch), well-sanded and finished. Overall, quality is high and parts consistent. Instructions are a little on the vague side, but if you read them carefully a few times it makes sense. The metal sections telescope into one another, and are secured by five setscrews that dog them in place. There is enough clearance between the sections so that each tread can be leveled and trued using the setscrews. It's best to level and align each section as you work your way down. The stair treads are unmarked and have to be individually marked and drilled. It goes quick if you make a template from your first tread. Railings are easy to install, require some trimming with a hacksaw. Anchored the bottom bracket into the concrete floors with wedge anchors set into epoxy, instead of the supplied plastic concrete anchors. I didn't want it to move. Ever. I spent about 6 hours on the job, from framing out the attachment point for the top support to installing the railings. It takes some getting used to (make sure to figure out which is your dominant stair-descending foot and install treads accordingly), but is feels very sturdy and safe. The treads are very smooth, and would benefit from some non-skid tape on the surface. Overall very pleased with the stairs.

        Excellant product.
Quality item. Installed without a problem. One tip - make sure to level each step as you install them from the top down. I had to backtrack. This product looks good. When people see it, they always have something good to say. It adds to the room instead of detracting. This style of stair, for me, is better than a spiral staircase. I can get a sheet of plywood up into the room, which would not be possible with a spiral staircase.

        Quality item
Normally I don't do reviews unless a product is really good or really bad. The Graz stairs are better than I thought. The instructions were doable, not as bad as many where the author has English as a second language. I was impressed over and over. Any mistakes made were mine, as this was my first install of this product. One thing to keep in mind is to do your leveling carefully as you install each new piece from the top down. I had to backtrack to accomplish this. The paint job on all metal parts is very good. The packaging was good too. If you are handy, have need for a item like this, and want a quality finished product at a very reasonable cost, I would recommend the Graz stair kit. There were other similar products at twice the cost or more. Could the quality be twice as much? I doubt it. I had such a good time putting this together and enjoying the final product that I would happily install another one right away if needed, without even putting the tools away.

        Good for tight spaces
This kit works good if you have limited space. They are steep though so I would only use these when there isn't room for conventional stairs. I assembled them myself but it would have gone faster and easier if I had somebody to help. Getting them straight can be tricky.

Good instructions; meets our needs perfectly
It fits well into our small space. It arrived in perfect condition. The instructions were easy to understand. The only difficulty was the weight and we knew that would be difficult. It took less than a day to install. We love it.
