There is a dial on the unit itself, so you don't need to install / use any additional thermostat.

What’s the maximum temperature setting on this item?

This heater does not have a numerical temperature gauge affixed to the unit, instead it has a gradually increasing temperature setting from low to high (see picture). The unit also has the option of operating at 3,000 or 6,000 watts via switch. That being said, I live in North East Wyoming, my shop is insulated conventional built stick building approximately 218sf and I can easily heat the space up to 80 degrees in our coldest winter in about an hour. This is my 3rd winter with this heater. NO regrets. Hope this is some help.

I installed this heater in a single car garage which is uninsulated. It keeps the area warm without problems. Your area is significantly larger but if it is insulated it should be adequate. There is moderate fan noise which might be an issue in a store.

My heater keeps shutting off after working a while. It is direct wired to a 35 amp breaker. Do I ...

If it is "shutting off" due to the breaker tripping the specifications do call for a 40 amp breaker. If it shuts off due to reaching temperature shut off then maybe not. It calls for 40 amp breaker and #8 wire.

I have been using this product for three weeks of freezing weather in Georgia. Product heats a 20' X 24' and 10' ceiling detached garage with no problem. I keep the dial set around 1/3 of the full radius of the dial and the temp is around 74 degrees at all times. It is easily wired. One negative is no thermostat control for this unit. I am pleased with this unit and happy I did not order a larger unit.

We installed this heater about a month ago. Our temps have hovered in the 20's at night and 40's - low 50's during the day, and the heater has been able to easily maintain an even temp of around 65 in our attached 1 car garage day and night, on the 3000-Watt setting, and at less than halfway on the temp dial. We needed to have a 240 line run to our garage so the heater was installed by the electrician.

I installed this in my wifes She Shed where she does arts crafts and what not. The building is 12 x 24. I hung the heater from the ceiling so it's not in the way. It is more than sufficient to keep the building comfortable. I did the install by myself, took about an hour and a half but then again I'm pretty handy. The one drawback that I would mention is the lack of an on/off switch, but thermostat seems to work well. The wife is happy and as you guys know.........

I purchased two DR-966 heaters. I have a well insulated garage/shop at 20’ X 25’ with a 9’ ceiling. However the garage door is not a perfect seal but reasonable. Given that, my goal was to flip a switch and have reasonable warmth within a half hour- or so. I already know having four space heaters all set at the 1500W setting took several hours to heat the shop when temps are below freezing. Additionally, the space heaters take up floor space, are trip hazards, and consume power designated for the shop equipment. Yes, breakers have been tripped. I knew 12,000 watts of power would be a minimal amount of power to meet my heating goal. But it seemed a good place to start. I ceiling mounted these two heaters, wired em, fired em and could tell by air flow and heat output these two heaters seemed more than adequate to get the job done. I did spend a couple hundred to properly wire two circuits from the breaker box, complete with two 60 amp box switches, 240V 50 amp Receptacles and plugs, 8 gauge wire, 40 amp breakers, etc. If I were to change anything on the heaters, I’d prefer a terminal block for wire hookup rather than the pigtail hookup wires as currently configured. Also, within the wire cavity, there is an exposed pointy screw of which I screwed a small plastic drywall anchor onto so there would be no chance of piercing the resident wires. And all this just in time for summer! Otherwise, the heaters are of good quality, have a rugged feel, look good and have satisfactory output. But time will tell how good they are when they go into full service next winter. But I’m very pleased so far.

Heats the garage to around 65 degrees in an hour or two with below freezing weather. I wired it with a 30 amp break, 10 gauge wire, and a double pole switch and it meets the wattage requirements. The installation was fairly easy but the wiring set up may need to be installed by a professional.

Overall pretty impressed, nice finish, bolted it to the ceiling, made a heavy duty cord to plug into my welding outlet. Had it running in 20 minutes. Seems a little light on the heating, but its fine in damp 48 degree garage. Disappointed with no off switch, no cord retainer.

This is an excellent heater for a garage or work space. It heats the space very quickly and evenly distributes the heat due to the louvers that allow you to adjust the air floor. Definitely recommend this to anyone needing a permanent space heater and has 220v. available.
