I would not hesitate to pour it down the kitchen. For my kitchen sink drainage, I use real hot and steaming water to pour down the kitchen sink to rinse and clear all existing build-up grease and scum particles.

Hi there – great question! While excellent at clearing clogs, this is not designed to combat odor. A product that can help after clearing clogs is Drano® Build Up Remover. This eliminates odors and prevents future build up/clogs. – Brooklyn, SC Johnson Consumer Care

If it is truly calcium and not a clog from an item, you may want to try filling your sink with hot water, then adding white vinegar and opening the drain. It will not clear the clog immediately, but after a while it will loosen the calcium deposits to be flushed through your line.

I did not know this product existed prior to using this and have previously only used the gel version of clog removers. I love Drano products so decided to give this a try and it did not disappoint. Super easy to do and it only takes 15min instead of 30! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Thumbs up for Draino!!
Customer review from drano.com logo
My sink was clogged for a long time and nothing would work until I used Draino. It was easy to use and only took a 15 minutes. I would definitely recommend Draino kitchen granules and I would buy it for my own house. Compared to other products Draino blows them out of the water literally!! I wouldn't use any other brand to unblock my sink. Before receiving this product from viewpoints I was aware of Draino but I never tried it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

(What's this)
You must read the fine print! Beware to home owner - this product can not be used if you have a garbage disposal unit. Draino only recommends this product for grease clogs only and made specifically for kitchen sinks only. It is not a food or hair clog remover. This was used on an auxiliary kitchen sink with just that purpose - grease. Knowing that you only use a little bit at a time, and that it only works on grease, I will use it sparingly as maintenance of the pipe only. I am new to the product and for the most part the pipes these will be used on don't generally clog. But they do slow down at times. Right now, I am thinking once ever 6-8 weeks as a general course of action should be good. That bottle at that rate should last a solid year. There was no super noticeable difference in drainage, but know that there was not a significant clog being worked on either. If you can keep your initial drainage at the sink level free from grease, then where the impact will be is just a little further down the line as it goes off into the pipes; just beyond the U pipe. That will be helpful! You are not to use this product with any other product, or if you recently used it with another product. Do not apply to toilet, shower drain, bathtub drain or bath sink basins. Do not use in stagnant or cold water. This is for heated water application only. Keep product off all surfaces, fixtures, utensils, wood, paint, surfaces, skin etc. To use the product, remove any stagnant water. Pour 3 heaping tablespoons of product into kitchen sink and then immediately pour 2 cups of hot (but not boiling) water. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with cold water. If the clog is still present, you can repeat the directions.

(What's this)
Like many people, if not most, my kitchen drain sometimes gets clogged up. These Drano Kitchen Granules work well on grease and food remains. They don't work in bathroom sinks for hair clogs, but in the kitchen sink they are perfect. Put them into the sink, pour hot water on it and wait. Really easy. This Drano is safe for plastic and metal pipes, but it is poisonous, so keep it away from kids and pets.

The granules are only for grease/food clogs and slow drains only. The granules are NOT for hair clogs/standing water or pipe build up. I had grease in my kitchen pipes and this worked great after the second application. You can repeat the application a couple of times and if the problem persists it recommends you get a plumber. The application it's very simple, just pour 3 tablespoons in the kitchen drain, then immediately pour 2 cups hot water (not boiling), let it work for 15 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
