Q:will it work with 46 and 2/8 inches by putting a 2/8' Chim between the wall and the hinges?

A: No - this model will not fit an opening that is any wider than 46" because the absolute maximum width tolerance for this model is 46". If your finished opening is 46-1/4" wide, you would need to move up to the next size which will fit a 46-47" opening. The 46-47" model size with brushed nickel hardware finish is model # SHDR-20467210-04. Attempting to stretch the tolerances of any shower door to go beyond the maximum width tolerance will completely void your warranty and could compromise the shower door's safety. Please do not attempt to shim the smaller unit to fit your opening and be sure to order the correct size for your space. A: The model width tolerances we provide are for finished openings only and they are the absolute minimum and absolute maximum tolerances. We recommend that you measure your opening width in at least 3 locations (top, middle, and bottom) to make sure that none of your measurements are below or above these tolerances. If none of your measurements are below 45" and none are above 46", this Unidoor model size (45-46") will fit. High Quality Shower Door

Dreamline makes some very nice shower doors. This is my second one and the fit and finish on both is outstanding. The thickness of the glass is luxurious. What isn't outstanding are the instructions. They are worse than awful, lots of tiny confusing pictures with little explanation. Lot's of parts that are labeled but good luck finding them in the pictures. Having said all of that, I had little trouble mounting the doors, as all of the major components were fairly clear. This is not a job I would recommend to a first timer though. The door has no leveling adjustments, so if your walls, or shower bottom are not perfectly straight, you will need to know make the adjustments manually. The end result is worth it however.

"The product description clearly states “Out-of-plumb installation adjustability: up to 1 in. one side (total 1 in.)” for those instances when adjustment is needed. The adjustment is made within the wall profile on the side of the stationary panel. The door of this model is frameless and is not adjustable.A download of the installation manual is available on the Home Depot product page, as well as the manufacturer’s website. Looks great - NOT easy install

It looks great! Very happy once it was installed but tough for a diy project. It is very heavy and getting the holes drilled in the ceramic tile and everything lined up just right was frustrating for a first timer but we went slowly (very slowly) and it eventually came together and everything was level. We made minor scratches on the hinges when installing the screws because limited access (warned about in the instructions) but they don't show from a distance.

Once the door is assembled and in place, the completion of the installation should not be lengthy. When installing the hinges to your wall, you will need to remove the inside mounting plate and glass door to have clearance so as not to damage the hinge as stated in the installation manual. Everything we expected!

This shower door makes the shower look like it should have when we had our custom home built. The only deduction in the entire product is the difficulty in installation. It is definitely a two man job and at least one of the two better be skilled! Once installed, it looks great! I have not replaced my plumbing yet but the door is just what we wanted.
