Questions & Answers

Can this cut through a shear bolt?
ByMay 7, 2025
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Yes, the 3100 rotary tool will cut shear bolts, but you'll need the right cut-off wheels. Such as the EZ456 metal cut-off wheels with the EZ402. There is also a kit that has wheels and the EZ402 mandrel, the product number is EZ406-02. If you need further help, please contact us at 1-800-437-3635 Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm CST. Small, convenient second unit
I have used a Dremel Model 732 with a foot pedal for many years, and it has worked well in my workshop. I bought this Model 3000 to have a lighter, more portable unit that I can take to the garage or my boat. Conveniently, it fits on the same stand I made for the 732. I like the fact that many tools are interchangeable with the small handpiece on the old unit. The 3000 works well, although it lacks the power of my older unit for heavier work.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I find my Dremel 4300 indispensable in the building of models for my On30 gauge railroad. The number of accessories and attachments allow me to create detail and accurate cuts that I could not do otherwise. It is easy and quick to change accessories and attachments, and I find the accessories are well built and work exceptionally well. My 4300 is a joy to use and is a serious addition to the tools I need to create the models you see below.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a Christmas gift I received after debating over whether or not to pick up a rotary tool for months. I love the tool, it's a joy to use, and I've already gotten a few projects under my belt, from restoration to some light cutting and grinding. I can't wait to play around with the tool moving forward!

                                      Don’t buy! Poor Quality
Buyer beware! I’ve owned this tool (and $150 in accessories) for 6 months. Went to use it for my 3rd job today. It was a basic wood edge router with $35 in new router bits. The blue button chuck failed. It failed to the point that I was unable to remove the router bit. It just kept slipping. To finish my job I ended up taking the dremal apart to be able to grip the shaft. When I opened the tool I discovered that the chuck system was a small metal pin that presses into one of four holes in the shaft. The metal pin and holes were worn out and could no longer engage. What terrible design! I have maybe swapped out bits 10 times. The tool is totally unusable now. To change a bit I have to completely disassemble the entire tool...not good.
