[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have this tool for several years love it. Has good power to handle my carving of my pendants and small carvings.

After just over two years (end of warrantee) the 12 V charger failed with a loud flash zap and smoke. The fuse did open. No fire. Otherwise the 8220 has been good.

It’s a very nice hand held tool with a great feel. It has the power to get any job done with a quick recharger to full charge within 20 minutes after normal use. The tray and accessories are a nice compliment as well with anything needed for intricate work. I would keep the instruction book close as not to lose it. It takes a little bit of practice installing and removing many of the bits. It’s made in China and Taiwan.

From light cutting to polishing, the Dremel 8220 is a multi-purpose powerhouse. Free yourself from the cords with this Lithium powered rotary tool. Despite being battery powered you will not lack any of the power and speed, able to cut/drill cleanly through metal. This kit sets you up with a wide range of bits to get you started. However, the joy of a Dremel is that there is an attachment for everything. From dog nail trimmers to lawn mower blade sharpeners, Dremel has been there for my needs. Putting it on a lower RPM and attaching the nail trimmer attachment I am able to safely trim my dog's nails without worry about cutting them. The 8220 really came in handy when I was doing my backsplash in my kitchen. I was able to achieve fine and precise cuts that the larger wet saw was just not able to do. I was able to slowly grind and cut away the tile to fit perfectly around my outlets. The end result is flawless. Changing the bits is as easy as pressing the lock and twisting the EZ Twist Cap. Once the chuck is released you can insert the bit and twist back tight. One of the features that you can take for granted is the separate speed and power control, I've felt like my past Dremel tools integrated this and you just lose the consistent speed across multiple cuts. The speed is marked from 5,000 to 35,000, so you can be sure you can get the most accurate and precise speed for the job. Not all things are perfect though. I felt like the tool did not last an incredibly long time. With 1 battery you will definitely need to recharge the tool if you are doing a long project. Unfortunately, the batteries are quite pricey as well. Overall, the Dremel 8220 frees the popular rotary multi-tool from the wires and wall and allows you the freedom to tackle any job.

I have had several Dremel tools and am finally happy because of the lithium ion battery, the others all were trash in less than a year. I just got this one and am pleased

Purchased for light to medium duty around the household. This Dremel Model flies those task. Minor cutting, Mini grinding, sharpening lawnmower blades, etc., etc. What makes it versatile is, its cordless. Which is a Big Plus you can bring it right up to the lawn mower and have at it right on the spot...5 Stars

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned one of these for 7years and use it daily for leathercraft and around the house. This thing is a beast. For leather, it does a great sanding the edges for a smooth finish. and also to burnish the edges. I should buy a second as a backup.

I have had this for over 6 years and I use it for many projects including sharpening my chainsaws and timing dog nails. I haven't had any issues with the batteries.
