          works, but ...
I used 3 of wheels to cut plastic. The quick change nose cap is cute, but doesn't hold the wheels. One of the 3 wheels zipped through the workshop, very dangerous. The Dremel tool itself works flawless. The link to my iPhone worked, not sure the app adds value. The traditional method of inserting a tool into the Dremel and than tighten with a little wrench is way better than that quick change setup. This is only works as long as there is absolutely no vibration.

Dremel 8260 Rotary Tool is a must for your toolbox
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Meet my cat Duchess. She's cute and adorable and is now 7 years old. But cats being cats, they sometimes like to scratch on things. We have some nice decorative posts in our bathroom that serve as a “divider” between the toilet and the vanity. And when Duchess was younger, she used to jump up on the vanity and use one of the posts as her personal scratching post. And as you can see in the first photos, she really dug into the wood. When I recently received the cordless 8260 Smart Rotary Tool I decided that fixing the post would be the first job I would tackle with it. The cordless tool is ideal for this job because I didn’t need to plug it into an outlet (outlet is 8+ feet away). I started the job by sanding down the damaged area with the Dremel rotary tool. After sanding everything down, I then filled the damaged areas with wood putty and then let it dry overnight. The next day I used the Dremel rotary tool to sand down the rough wood putty in order to create a smooth surface that was ready for re-painting. The wood putty was very hard but the 8260 made fairly quick work of sanding it to a smooth surface. And, as can be seen in the last couple of photos, the end result was fantastic! After painting the post looks like it was never damaged. My only concern when I got started with the 8260 was the potential battery life. Well, this tool surprised me! My initial sanding took about 5 minutes. But sanding down the wood putty the next day took a lot longer! I worked on the posts for about 30 minutes being careful so I didn’t over-sand anything. When I got finished I looked at the battery indicator lights (there are 3). All 3 indicator lights were still lit up indicating the tool was still almost fully charged. I checked the Dremel smart app and it showed that the tool still had an 81% charge. I was impressed! And the lack of a cord allowed me to have a lot of control which I needed for this project. I’ve owned Dremel rotary tools my entire adult life. I have found many uses for them. But even though they are useful the downside was dealing with the cord. For a lot of projects I needed to plug the rotary took into an extension cord in order to work on a project. And that was a pain. Not anymore! I’m now free to use the 8260 anywhere I want and I really like that ability! And now that I’ve fixed the post I am no longer mad at Duchess! Just kidding, of course. I love her dearly! Needless to say I recommend the Dremel 8260. It’s an awesome addition to any toolbox!

              Cordless Powerhouse
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Upon opening the box, I was pleasantly surprised to be greeted with what feels to be a fairly heavy duty canvas zippered and nicely embroidered carrying case for the 8260. By the weight of the box, I was expecting a hard plastic case. Inside the case, everything is packed away neatly and readily available to get to work. Included in the paperwork is a handy quick start guide if you’re looking to not waste any time, but the full manual is included as well. Just like any other cordless tool I’ve owned, the 8260 should be charged fully before it’s first use. Good news is, the approximate charge time is only 95 minutes! The battery itself is not bulky and is surprisingly small in the hand. I also never thought I’d ever need to connect my Dremel to my phone, but it’s pretty handy to change speeds and monitor temps without getting up to manually do it, especially when using a flex shaft attachment. In hand, the 8260 is a little larger than I expected and can be a little cumbersome. However, It doesn’t take away from the convenience of it being cordless. I won’t be using it for detail wood carving work, but it will be quite handy for cutting, grinding, and sanding jobs. The battery seems to last as long as the manual states and I look forward to really putting it through more work to test longevity. I am able to use any Dremel attachments I already own. Operation is comfortable with little vibration and love the speed control. Overall, I think Dremel did a great job on this product it’s a giant leap in the right direction!

                Excellent Power and Bluetooth Connected!
My Dremel 8260 Brushless Smart Cordless Rotary Tool is simple to use and works great. The lithium battery operation allows it to be taken anywhere quickly without having to setup an extension cord. The tool has a nice shape and provides comfortable and accurate extended use. The operating speed ranges from 5,000 to 30,000 RPM and makes it smooth and strong for most projects. The brushless design is also nice because it eliminates the need to buy and replace the brushes every once in a while. The 8260 is a smart tool. It is Bluetooth connected and supported by a new Dremel app. The App dashboard shows you many things. It shows the temperature of the tool and the working time remaining until the battery should be re-charged. It also shows the load and speed setting in rpms. You can also adjust the tool speed using the app. The app will also send problem reports directly to Dremel. I hate it when a tool storage case barley has enough space to hold the product you bought with no additional room for future expansion. That is defiantly NOT the case here! The Dremel 8260 comes with an excellent storage case which has plenty of room to store additional accessories. I just used my Dremel 8260 to prepare my metal handrail for repainting. I used both the wire wheel and the sanding drum accessories that I already owned. The Dremel 8260 worked great. It was extremely easy to get into the hard-to-reach areas. One charge of the battery lasted for the entire project. The Dremel 8260 is an excellent tool and I highly recommend it.

                  The awesomeness Dremel 8260
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] At first it looked impressive, them I used it and said WoW. The best part is that Dremel is listening GREAT JOB WITH THE APP. It was what I had trouble with the speed and bit use. Matching the bit with the right speed and what I can use the bits for. Really over excited. The app really really wonderfully executed. Came with a few bits not much and a nice case the bit holder not so great but you can replace that with no problem at all. Brushless is the way to go. No more worries about where to get the brushes at. Really can't wait till the summer to really use it. Made my wife a small candle/ candy tray for Valentine's Day, great timing lol. A few more bits and a extra battery would have been great. So you can keep working. REALLY impressed and Love the app. Go get one before they sell out you will not regret it.

                    8260 Great Cordless Tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dremel Cordless 8260 is very light and is curved which makes it easy to hold. Had no problem cutting the sheet metal we are useing for a boat top. Cut off staple ends and nails with ease from our pallet project and I've used it with a bit to drill holes and a brush for cleaning up a carving. All at different speeds. Has all the speed and power needed (and then some) to get the job finished. The speed is super easy to control and the LED indicator is in a good location and is a great asset(no guessing). Really like that it is brushless. Love the LED indicator for battery usage. No reason to get caught in a jam with a dead battery(it last longer than expected). Doesn't take long to recharge. As I'm not interested in the bluetooh or downloading the app I did not check them out. To change accessories the 8260 comes with a collet wrench and also has the EZ Twist wrench/nose cap. My favorite, so I don't have to keep up with more tools. Has a great storage bag with straps to hold everything in place and room for lots of accessories. Can't wait to get more accories so I can start on my fairy and gnome homes out in the field. Over all I think this is a Super Tool.

                      A Great Tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 8260 is a great tool for the advanced as well as the beginner.Light weight, but powerful this tool will meet all of your needs. The app is a great, especially for the beginner. You will know what speed and accessory is the best to use to get the results you want.

                        Great Smart Rotary Tool
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dremel 8260 is a very nice tool. But if it is your very first rotary tool then you will want to get a accessory kit, as it only comes with some cut-off wheels. It seems to have plenty of power. The most powerful and smart rotary tool that I have used. It is quieter then I thought it would be. It has a nice feel to it and the rubber grip is great. The variable speed works nice and smooth. The Bluetooth app connects easy and works good. I like that you can see the battery level and the temperature. It will set the speed depending on the material you are working with which is nice. The charger light is big and bright you can see from across the room. Takes about an hour and a half to charge.

Versatility wins!! This tool can do it all!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All right it’s time for an honest review, this Dremel model is not just good, it’s amazing! At first I was a tad skeptical about their new claims: 100% more runtime than any other cordless model, 20% faster cutting speed vs the 8220 (Dremel’s prior flagship cordless model), 20% more power than the 4300(Dremel’s prior most powerful corded model), a lifetime warranty, and a Bluetooth app that not only connects to the tool but guides you through your projects with advice?!? After testing it for just a few days, I can say that I am no longer skeptical but also a believer! This tool really does live up to its current claims! It’s the first rotary tool to posses a brushless motor. This naturally means more power and longer run time on the battery. How much runtime and power output, is really up to the engineering part of the process. Dremel really did their homework here, because not only is the tool light, but you can also tell that it automatically shifts variable speeds when it needs to, to keep the motor running smoothly and efficiently. The Battery as far as I can tell, is a 3ah (amp hour) lithium ion battery that charges pretty quickly. It clicks in and out of the actual tool, making it possible to posses more than one battery and maybe even batteries that have a greater amp hour. This tool is also the first of its kind to come equipped with a Bluetooth connection that communicates with your mobile device. With it, you can learn all sorts of useful information about the tool itself and the tasks you are going to accomplish. It will tell you battery life and even inform you if something goes wrong within the tool. If something does manage to occur, rest easy because this device also comes with a lifetime warranty! With it you can relax knowing that your investment is in good hands throughout the life of the tool. I am currently a general contractor, with some carpentry talent on the side. I tackle all kinds of tasks and problems in residential areas, and in my workshop, but I don’t regularly take my current Dremel model (Dremel 4000) with me because it isn’t cordless and doesn’t really posses enough versatility. However with this new and more powerful compact design, I can finally say that I’d take this with me everywhere! We do a lot of jobs that sometimes require us to reroute copper pipes or replace them with pex lines. this is truly where this tool shines, because with it, I can cut copper pipes, pvc, and pex lines with ease! Now that this is possible, I don’t need to bring along a portable bandsaw with me saving me time, room and money, which is a huge win! Outside of my occupation, I love to create walking sticks and Wizard staffs. The Dremel helps me put the finishing touches on a lot of my pieces. I like to make sure each one is unique for its owner. I use every sort of bit you could think of and would like to think I’m pretty knowledgeable. the app is very intuitive, and impressive, It even taught me a thing or two! In summary, I am very impressed with the overall experience and design that this new model brings to the table. I am very confident in saying that anyone who wields this tool will be impressed, and confident in their work as well. It’s definitely a tool worth having for many different audiences!
