Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really well thought out design filling the niche between the smaller Dremel "Mototool" and full size 7" diameter saws. Great balance in your hand; the worm drive seems particularly smooth. I appreciate the ease of changing blades and also the suction attachment.

A contractor I hired to install my laminate flooring did not leave a gap around the perimeter between the wall and planks. Since the floor was down, I had to cut the gap out myself. This saw, with the flush cut blade was the PERFECT tool. Understandably the blades wore quickly because of the laminates durable top surface. Since that fix, I have cut lots of half inch plywood with it and can't stand using it anymore. It gets SUPER hot after cutting only a few feet. The blades ARE ACTUALLY TERRIBLE. It wasn't just the flooring. They wear down super fast and are super expensive. Why? Well they are basically carbide grit glued to a metal disk, instead of having actual teeth. If you need this saw for something very specific in a pinch, like I did, it's hard to find something else to do the job. However, DO NOT GET THIS for general cutting. I wish I had circular saw and some decent blades instead.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Tool Definitely Has its Advantages, but is now almost obsolete. I have now used this tool a few times and like it. Used it for cutting Hardi-panel, cutting and trimming up plywood flooring for my shed and even cutting treated wood balisters. It does flush cuts better than anything and you can get the hang of it pretty easily. Cutting plywood is a breeze, as would T-111 siding. When you cut a 2x4 or treated wood balisters (2x2), then essentially you are scoring the wood and have to follow up with a skillsaw, hand saw or circ saw. The advantages are that it is light weight, easy to use and not super noisy like a circular saw. You can cut with this without really having to wear hearing protection, but I cant do that with a circular saw. Disadvantages - I lost the hex key that removes the locknut, then tried to find the best match from my socket set to remove the locknut. Now, my locknut is boogered up a bit. This is my fault, but I wish the product came with a small wrench to fit the lock nut, as my Rotozip had. Also, nowhere in the manual does it state what size the locknut is. The other disadvantage is the blades are expensive, and now that Dremel has come out with a new Ultra Saw Max, which has a wider (larger in circumference) blade, this tool is almost obsolete. As an example, I was unable to buy Saw Max blades at my local not-Home-Depot HW store, when I stopped in. All they had was the metal cutoff blade. They had the new Ultra Saw Max in stock and ALL of the 4" blades for it; so it appears that this tool is now obsolete. So, my suggestion to anyone buying this, is that if you are not on a budget, spend a little more (about $30) and get the Ultra Saw Max, as it is nearly identical but the blades are larger, so it will cut more stuff. Like 2X4s, and balisters, and such.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great "GO-TO" Tool. I bought the SM20 one afternoon...used it the next day in making home repairs. The SM20 cut through the exterior panels like they were butter. The SM20 is so easy to use and "FAST"...also, plunge-cuts are a snap and accurate too. I've had the SM20 for several months now and have used it on wood and metal...works great on both. Thanks for a great product, Dremel.
