Q:Is it UV resistant and won't crack when exposed to sunlight everyday?

by|Jun 1, 2022

A:  Yes they should last many years in the sunlight , but you should always inspect them yearly .

by|Jun 28, 2021

A:  Hi, these specific connectors do not have the added color variant that produces a full on UV resistant rating. Though the variant being used does offer some protection. As others have mentioned, these are made to be installed within a junction box or underground in damp locations. With that being said, these connectors do last a surplus of 5+ years if directly exposed 24/7 in the harshest sunlight. Hopefully this helps!

by|Jun 28, 2021

A:  You should check with the manufacturer, but these are made for wet locations yes, but inside a proper electric box. No connection using these or anything else should be out in the open exposed directly to the elements.

    by|Jun 28, 2021

A:  The vast majority of all electrical junctions are required to be in a junction box, thereby giving the splice protection which would automatically protect these wire connectors from UV A & B rays...Low voltage junctions are not required to be in a junction box, however, why would anyone not want to protect the integrity of the splice in a junction box regardless if a junction box is required or not required...

    Answer This Question

A:  You can if you want. It's the same as a regular wire nut, but it has this jelly inside it to prevent water from getting to the wires inside.

    by|Feb 17, 2021

A:  If you're concerned with water, humidity, etc. possibly invading your wire connections then these will definitely help. Of course, a lot of water will kill any electrical connection so keep in mind these connectors will just help keep corrosion down.

    by|May 4, 2021

A:  If they work underground, they will surely work in your basement environment. Make sure you buy the correct size for the wires you are connecting.

    by|May 3, 2023

A:  You certainly could, but I wouldn't recommend it for a few reasons. First, they cost a tremendous amount over the cost of regular wire nuts. Secondly, they're a bit messy. The silicone (not sure if it's grease or caulk) tends to squirt out a bit. Third, if a leak occurs over a junction box or other electrical connection, you'll probably want to disassemble and inspect for corrosion anyway. These will not keep water from wicking inside the insulation of the wire unless it's completely and perfectly covered. For peace of mind, I'd do a through inspection anyway, which would require removing the wire nuts and replacing them. This eliminates any advantage from their application in the first place.

A:  I would give it a try - when I used mine - it looked almost like some clear waterproof gel came out of the connector.

A:  I dont see why not. Check the instruction on the package label, it tells which wire gauge combinations it can support. This cap works fine for my 14&16 AWG combination.

A:  I used this for line voltage landscape lighting connections with-in an electrical junction box. I also used these on low voltage direct burial connections. I also used vulcanizing electrical tape to wrap the connection.

    by|Sep 18, 2020

A:  Yes they can. I used mine to repair Christmas lights. Just use the proper size for your wire and you should be fine.

A:  From their website: DryConn® waterproof wire connectors are approved for temporary submersion. This means they may be submersed under water, but are not approved for applications where they will be permanently submersed.

A:  Probably, although I’d recommend a different connector if it won’t be exposed to water, but if it is then this is the connector for you.

This is a great connector for power supply projects, and at a great price. I use 4 connectors in every landscape lighting controller I build. See picture.

I used these to install several low voltage exterior landscape lights in order to "brighten up our curb appeal and add some quality aesthetics."  In other words, because my wife told me that she wanted low voltage exterior landscape lights installed.  These work wonderfully, they are worth every penny.  Several of my friends have just used regular connectors fastened over with electrical tape and they wonder why their wives are unhappy and their houses are unlit.  I've never had any issues with these--my house is always lit even if its raining, sleeting, or snowing.  I believe these play a huge role.  Sure they are a bit more expensive than regular connectors, but they are well built for the elements and will last a lifetime.

I like this product. I buy it in several sizes and use them on my sprinkler valves and on low voltage lighting. I like the silicone inside as it helps keep out the moisture. As a secondary barrier to prevent water from entering the connection on connectors laying in flower beds where irrigation is being used. I buy the flexible duct seal from the same store. The duct seal stays soft and plyable. I add some duct seal around the conductors at the end of the connector and then cover with scotch 88. This has been working well for me. With many locations having two number 12 landscape wires and the smaller wire going to the light, I add the duct seal between each conductor and build a water stop around all three conductors. When folding the conductors and placing them under a landscape pin/staple, I believe this helps keep the water out of the connection.

          Most helpful employees
The product did exactly what I needed it to do, but it was the employees in the electrical department, who guided me to the right products, that deserve recognition. I installed outdoor low voltage path lights for the very first time. I did the job entirely on my own, but that would not have been possible if the expert employees at Home Depot had not steered me to the correct products that I needed to complete the job. Thank you, Home Depot- mostly at your Indian Bend location in Scottsdale but I find them friendly and very helpful at whatever I store I go to!
