Q:Will this heat a 16 x 8 greenhouse - not insulated of course? & can it sit on the floor or does it have to be wall or ceiling mounted?

1 Answer
Answer This Question
A:Â This should heat a green house of this size. The heater must be mounted as it is hard wire and not a plug-in type heater.

Q:wondering how effective this would be for a 48x40 pole barn- insolated roof, not sides

Answer This Question
A:Â We would recommend the EWH9600 model for this space. Depending on your location (weather) you may need multiple units without insulation on the sides. This would also depend on how warm you need the building.

1/3 bad out of the box
I was really excited for these heaters, 1st off they have a 9900w version for the same price if you are running wire get the bigger one, the brackets are flimsy and a pain to work with. drill your own holes as needed or make your own brackets. I was really disappointed that these will not turn on again after the power goes out. You have to turn them back on so dont count on them for freeze protection. Have not been able to get ahold of the manufacture to replace the defective unit.

This heater is very well built and is more than enough to keep my detached garage warm and comfortable on even the coldest days. It mounted easily with the included hardware and was fairly easy to hardwire. It’s big enough to get the job done but small enough that it tucked up into a corner of the garage without taking up too much space. I’d definitely recommend this if you’re trying to get some extra use out of a cold space

This review is for the Dura Heat 5000 watt electric forced air heater with remote.
I got this heater to heat a 600 square foot garage, so that I can continue to use my garage in the cold winter months here in Pennsylvania.
This particular unit needs to be hardwired, and mounted to a wall or ceiling. Due to the amount of heat it puts out, this unit gets really hot, and needs to be 6 feet off the ground and at least 6 inches away from walls or ceilings. It's rated to put out over 17,000 BTU's of heat, and is rated to heat up to 750 square feet, so this should easily heat my 600 Square foot garage. Picture the sort of heaters they have at the main entry/exit doors at home depot.
It requires a 30 amp double breaker, and needs to be hardwired, there is no plug. Of course you could wire a 30 amp plug to it, but that would make this heater more mobile and allow it to be put into more unsafe places than it should be. Always take the proper precautions when dealing with space heaters as even the smallest, safest space heater can burn you or create a fire hazard.
It comes with all the mounting hardware you'll need to mount to a wall or ceiling. You'll need to provide your own 30 amp 240 volt wire, or buy a 30 amp 240 volt plug to wire this heater to. It also comes with a remote control that can turn it on and off, change it from high to low output, and change the temperature from 45 to 99 degrees. It even comes with an over-heat cut of switch and alarm.
If you're not comfortable opening up your breaker box and adding a 30 amp double breaker, you should probably let a professional do that for you.
For the price you can't go wrong with this garage heater.

I'm getting ready to close things up for the winter and still need to get things done in the workshop and wasn't going through another winter without heat, so I'm very Happy I got this DURAHEAT 5000-watt, 17,060 BTU's Electric Garage Heater !! It's 240v, So I had to add a double 30 breaker and I ran it to a box with a 30 amp 240v plug, you could direct wire it too, that's what it says to, make it a permanent fixture, but I put a plug on it so I could take it anywhere, It's Great outdoors with the Generator too !! It has a stainless steel fan throws out 500 CFM air circulation, heats up my workshop in 15 min. and the LED thermostat goes from 45-99 degrees, so toasty warm !! This one is Heavy Duty, built to last, easy to operate and has a remote, so cool !!

Dura Heat forced air heater. This little unit is going up in my workshop. The unit is hardwire only and draws 21 amps. A 30 amp circuit is required to operate this heater. While it is designed for smaller type homeowner use, it has enough beef behind it to do the job nicely. Hardwire connectivity is required and no wire or connectors for this are included. The unit can be attached to the ceiling or wall using the provided bracket. Also included is a remote control unit to operate the heater. I have got to say, it seems really cheap and have some doubts as to how long it will last.

Duraheat 5K heater did a nice job with this heater, like the remote control so don't have to get up on ladder to change settings. I live in AR so will not get lots of use but have is shop for the times where temp drop below freezing and now don't have to put items I don't wat to freeze in a warm place. Heater was not to bad to install, got the bracket up, then ready to install the heater, goes below the bracket and you have to hold up and install a bolt to hang heater and that is a job for 2 people as holding the heater up with one hand and installing a bolt with nut hard- finally used a clamp to hold up to install the bolt. OK now time to wire being an electrician is easy 30 amp 2 pole breaker in panel wire up to heater few staples to hold wire then open plate on bottom of heater, get wire in and then the hard part small space for #10 wire in tight small space, took some time to get it wired and tight connections. Then just turn on breaker and you have power then use the remote (follow instructions to set temps, etc.) I set temp for 45 deg. had to wait till tonight when temps were to be in the low 50's to try it out. Worked great but only left on for like 10 min. then turn off as don't need for now. But all good and works great, now see how it goes over the winter and can even just leave off till we are getting a freeze then just use remote to turn on, is going to same me lots of space in the house not storing paint, liquids, etc.

Thank you for your comments. For larger areas the EWH9600 model may be the better choice. It provides 2X the heat output of the EWH5500 and includes built in energy management that cycles your heater from high to low output as the room nears the set temperature.

Pretty good little heater nice with remote control. A little small for my 30x40 shop but it does keep it above freezing when its below zero outside cycles on and off at 45 degrees.
I would recommend this heater.

Install was not difficult as it was a replacement unit. The heater heats well and the remote works as expected. Only used it for 2 weeks and am hoping it will still be operating a number of years down the line.
